"Are you okay?" Siddie asked, concerned. That didn't sound good at all, and while Sammy might not actually need her lungs, the gurgling definitely didn't seem comfortable. "I met Carthusia on my way here," she offered, nodding towards the pride demon. "The fog was really messing with us ... did it give you problems?"

While she did let Sammy go enough that the other ghoul could move around, Siddie wasn't going far. She was thoroughly unsettled by this island and this place and everything that had happened so far, and now that Sammy had turned up okay, or relatively okay, she wasn't going to lose her friend again. She had told herself no more elevators, but given a choice between a ladder and a gaping hole, and also given that Sammy was going that way, she tagged along towards the elevator. "There was some kind of experiment going on here," she explained. "Some Dr. H was trying to recover something, but the note said that experiment 413 was lost." She glanced at the chamber. "Actually, I'm pretty sure it made its own way out. I hope it's gone elsewhere."

"Oh, yes, that's err, very nice," He said, accepting the part the way one might accept something from a dog that had found a really fabulous thing in the bushes.

Then he gave it a more thorough look.

"Hm," he said, "you know, that is interesting. It doesn't look like a part of the consoles. Transformation, it said on the door?" he turned the thing over idly, "Ah, here's the output coupler. Not usable any more, is it."

The gathering of students around and in the chamber wasn't seeming like such a good thing anymore. "What ever it is, I.." Blue eyes saw the stains, they did not comfort him in the slightest.
"I don't want to end up in some kind of fog making machine. I'm going to look for another way down."
Walking away, the sounds of the student bodies filled the lab while Israfel's feet carried him towards the pried open doors of the elevator. Shining his flashlight down and then up-

It seemed like a bad idea. A VERY bad idea.

But given the choice of a testing chamber that for all he knew things might have died in? He'd prefer getting hurt quickly rather then a slow one brought on by fog of all things.
That thought in mind, Israfel took the ladder in the elevator.

stage 2 results
Climbing down through the dark went relatively well, all things considered. The elevator didn't come crashing down upon those in the shaft, and the students climbing down through the chamber floor found several very sturdy handholds. Then came the thunderous rumble of an explosion above, and the short moment of "things working out nicely" was over. The entire building shook and shuddered, and with the squealing squeal of twisting metal, the ladder in the shaft bent and broke loose, taking the students down with it. The drop turned out to be painfully, rather than fatally, far. Those climbing down through the chamber faired better, their fall happened to be cushioned by a nicely padded floor. Too bad it belonged to an equally padded, very much locked, cell.

- elevator shaft: the hard landing cost you 3 hp
- chamber floor: the padded landing only cost you 1 hp
- no choice: -4hp

Stage 3 start

According to the map, you now find yourselves within the containment area. And several of you find yourself very much contained, as well.

Tybalt greeted the hell hound as she made her way over; relieved to see that she made the fall jump in one piece. Though now that she was here, it was time to keep moving and as he climbed down, he was thankful to find that there were many foot and handholds for them to use and climb down safely. In fact, it was rather easy. Or was up until the explosion. Yeah. That kind of screwed things up...

"Sonuva---" Was all he could get out before falling the remainder of the way and landing on something... soft? Did he land on a pillow or something? He shook his head slightly; feeling around in the dark blindly until his vision adjusted. Only rather than just feeling one pillow... there were several. What kind of room did he land in exactly?

"Everyone okay...?" He asked; slowly getting to his feet so he could look for a way out.

Locked.

Okay... It's locked. Locked? Locked... s**t!

"It won't open!" He snapped; kicking the door out of frustration.

The ground started to rumble, and the hunchback's eyes widened. What was...? With a groan of churning metal and a heave of the ground, Christof dropped the device to grab Barth by the jacket and Calder by the arm, heaving back to leap through the hole next to them in the Chamber- it was their best bet for protection for what ever was going on, and instinct grabbed him.

As he hit the soft padded floor beneath the hole, he gave a groan, reaching to make sure his head did not pop off again. Blearily, he looked around, wobbling to his feet. Where...? What..? With an anxious whine he rushed to the bars of their cage, hammering wildly with his pipe. What was going on?? They were stuck! Why had he had to be distracted by the lab? Why couldn't they have stayed in that nice lab? He glanced around to the others, making sure they were okay... they'd have to figure out some way out of here!

(( Tset's HP: 24 - 1 = 23 ))

Tsetsiliya was nervous to begin her descent into the chamber alone. The others seemed to still be examining the area around the room. Instead, she leaned forward from her vantage point on the edge of the giant hole and squinted down into the darkness. In the dimming light, she saw the craggy, ripped walls towards the top of the hole, picking out a few good hand- and footholds. The descent shouldn't be too much of a challenge, which was some good news after what this island has been throwing at them.

At the same time, the ease made her leery. Were they about to wander into a trap, with no way out? Again she glanced at some of the other students milling about, her eye drawn to Barth (as he was the one talking at the moment) when the building gave a resounding rumble. Her precarious position led to her tumbling into the hole, and she grabbed at the edge to stop herself, only to smash her hand too hard against the serrated edge of the ripped-up floorboards and slip away. She braced for the painful landing, but.. was this something soft she had landed on?

Tsetsiliya sat up dazedly, patting her hand on the floor just to be sure. Pain coursed through her and she gasped, immediately pulling her hand back. The palm was badly scratched, with a rather deep cut formed in the center. The padded floor next to her had a sizable blood stain from her exploration. She frowned; perhaps this is what Ren felt like. Setting to work quickly, she ripped a part of her dress's hem into two strips, one she used to wipe the excess away and the other she used to quickly bind her hand. It would be more of an inconvenience than anything, and should heal nicely once they got back to the school.. if they got back, anyway.

Her gaze followed Tybalt across the room as he tugged at the door, kicking it when he couldn't get it open, before her eyes landed on Christof, whom she confided with a worried look.

"A-are we being stuck here.. ?" She glanced back up through the ceiling. Was there any way to scale the walls again should they need to?

Sammy turned to follow Siddie eying Carthusia slowly as she did giving a stiff nod to the demon. She wasn't sure who that demon was, but something about her just added to the shivers on her spine. Or maybe it was the chamber they were moving away from, you know, the one covered in blood and claw marks, yeah that one. "It kept telling me I would die, I kept seeing stuff jumping out and around me, ended up macing a tree that I thought was trying to get me."

Turning back to the chamber again she started to move a bit quicker for the elevator, "Yeah I saw a note about something like that earlier, you don't think Dr. H would be Hyde from the school would it? I don't think he's crazy enough to do something like." She paused for a moment waving her hand to the room they were all in. "Well, like this." When they finally arrived at the elevator she peered down watching other student's climb. With a shrug she grabbed the ladder and started on her way down. "It's this or going towards a room with blood and claw marks, I think this might be the safe-"

s**t, spoke too soon. Just as she mentioned safer path the metal twisted screeched and ultimately broke loose around them. Grabbing at ladder rungs Sammy tried her best to keep from falling, but only managed to slow her fall before hitting the ground with a rather wet thud and another hacking cough full of water.

Well at least it helped cleared her of some more lung water right?

"Oh for Jack's sake..." she groaned while trying to roll over and get a look around, "Where the frak are we now?"

After the softest fall they'd had so far, Barth watched, dazed, as Christof and Tybalt tried the door.

Locked.

Apparently.

They were locked in a giant well-cushioned room with no ability to go on long hikes, fight dangerous foes, or find more things to carry.

"Darn," Barth said cheerily, arranging himself in an extremely comfortable corner.

Christof glanced over his shoulder to Tsetsi, brows furrowed in a desperate expression before shaking his head. The door wouldn't budge. TRAPPED. Panic started to build up in his stomach- trapped in an abandoned laboratory... if the owners were still around, that also did not sound pleasant. He knew what Mad Scientists liked to do with people they found casually trapped in their labs... With an anxious whine, he began pacing the parameter of their padded cell before looking up at the hole they had fallen through. Maybe... maybe they could still climb out? It was so high up, though... Since Barth seemed comfortable enough, he moved to shove him into a more supportable position before once again using the Sloth Demon as a step-ladder, reaching with his pipe to see if he could snag the edge of the hole, despite the debris.

"Hrk, Christof would you get-" his voice fumbled the command, embarrassed, as if remembering something, "um, err, get down, I mean, pleassse."

Christof's shoes were not clean, and Barth was not a rug. Or a very good ladder. Not that he could really do anything about it. He didn't see why everyone was so desperate to get out. This was the first break they'd had since they'd gotten on this silly island. So far, Barth had kept moving because previous levels offered danger. Fog, smoke, reapers, fire. And he couldn't resist a good elevator (or even a bad one). But now they were well out of the way of the fire, and in a room practically built out of pillows.

...Pillows that didn't smell like kerosene.

A large portion of the group is trapped in a cell, the rest are trying to recover from a terrible fall outside. There's no keys in sight. And now....something is coming. A long shadow and hooded head appear at the stairwell, Another attack? Or...no wait. It's just Emily looking a bit flustered as she reaches the top. "I'm so s-sorry! I went ahead a-and didn't warn you!" The small figure slumps a bit, "I-I'm so sorry..."

You hear the soft jingle of keys and is it too much to hope that...? "I h-have the keys right here though!" She takes a step forward, fumbling with them, "T-they were by the door...it's still active...there' really a lot of them tho-oh?" A small line of red appears at the corner of her mouth, and she gets a confused look on her face.

She glances down just in time to see the tip of the sword through her chest. "Oh." The sword slides back out and Emily looks up toward the cell one last time as she begins to crumple to the ground, "S-sor-" But she never finishes, he body has dissipated before it even reaches the ground. The keys hit the floor with a jarring clatter and then...

"Now that...that was downright satisfying. This area has been unbearable for the last three months because of that constant. ********. Sobbing." The cloaked figure flicks the blood off off his sword with a practiced twist, "I don't know how or why the fog hid her for that long, but she's gone now and won't be respawning anytime soon!" He sounded pretty cheerful, even more so when he noticed the pride demon in the cell. "413! Glad to see you came back! For a total and utter abomination, I always felt you were pretty hot."

Stage 3 Choices

While the cell is locked, those outside have two choices:
- attack (you may attack once)
- try to grab the keys sitting at the figure's feet (roll 1 20-sided dice. If the result is 2, 12, or 20 you have successfully grabbed the keys)

While the cell is locked, those outside have two choices:
- attack (if you have not already, you may attack once)
- hang back

Whisper fell just like the others into the room. At least the landing was a little nicer, but still. She had never fallen this much in her life. Now there seemed to be a even bigger issue; they were all locked in. "Can't we ever win? I mean really."

She began to pace back in forth, contemplating how to get out, but nothing came to mind. "I don't suppose you could just go through it and let us out on the other side, could you Tybalt?"

She knew it was a long shot, but hey, it was worth a try. If it worked they would be out. If not, well, it was a good effort.

While Barth might have been at ease in such a place, Calder had sat up to a very, very, VERY, bad situation. He was trapped in a cell. Trapped, meaning not free, meaning captured, meaning never to roam the open woods and to be kept in a little box, FOREVER! To say that Calder was on panic mode was an understatement. He was flipping out!

Despite what soft, plush surroundings made up their cell, it was contained and the very fact it was a prison made the kelpie rise up and look about before bolting to the door. He couldn't be captured! HE COULDN'T! His kind were meant to be free. It was their whole culture! An essential element making up his very being! He wasn't about to turn into one of those cautionary tails that they told young scarlings to make sure they were waring of others and minded their elders.

Heart hammering, he yanked on the door with as much effort (which was a lot) as he could, but it did not move. He couldn't be in here. He needed out.

Gripping his chest, Calder more than paced. He was moving about in a quick panic, looking around for a way out. When he saw Christof move to the hole, he went over. "Can we get out?" He called, his voice higher than normal and clearly stressed.

It was then that the sound of keys came and nervous, Calder moved over to see... "EMILY!" OH, he knew she was a good person. "I'm SO sorry I dropped you. I never meant to leave you behind!" He felt horrible to think he just dropped her in the cornfield, but he was happy to see she made it, and she had KEYS!

Oh, he would kiss that little ghoul when he was out! That was, until he noticed something, and with Emily, looked down at her now torn chest. "Emily...?" And with that, the little ghoul dropped and disappeared. "EMILY!"

What was before them was another reaper, and Calder had no doubt this one was very real. It....It stabbed her! IT MADE HER DISAPPEAR!

Turning about, Calder rushed to where his knapsack dropped and grabbed his book, turning over and going to fling the book as hard as he could through what little space the door provided for seeing. Too bad his eyes were a little blind from tears and frustration.

Christof shifted, loosing his balance as Barth unhappily squirmed- the hole was too high unless they piled more students up? He couldn't tell if debris had fallen over the top of it in any case.

The appearence of Emily made him perk up, eyes widening hopefully at the jingle of keys- but unfortunately that option was short lived.... brows knit, he watched as she was rendered Spare Parts. They might be able to fix her still, if they could get to some working equipment and get some good lightening going... although he wasn't entirely sure HOW. It involved straps, and metal connections, right? Something like that... his brain whirled, trying to rationalize why he shouldn't be panicking.

Then he saw the crackle of fire. That deeply instilled Undead loathing of that element took a hold, and immediately he scrambled to his feet, heart racing. He was more concerned about the glimmering sword approaching than their trapped state at that moment... maybe the containment chamber would offer some protection?

But no. No he wouldn't let them all get burned alive. He was an Igor and that meant things beyond himself- right. He nodded. There is no Me in Igor. Besides, his Mistress had told him specifically not to let anyone get hurt. Or at least to keep Barth alive. The contradictions from the past however long lost in the corn and fog made his brain ache. Trembling with terror, he hefted his pipe, charging to try to take a swing between the bars of their cage...
