Yes, I do get made fun of, but I just say, "Hey, at least I have a better vocabuarly, than you with all your slang." I love making them feel illiterate.

I'm always getting made fun of... Only one of my friends reads as much as I do and we both get made fun of for it because everyone else is obsessed with sports, and I kind of find them rather dull -no offense to anyone who likes them- sweatdrop The only sport I like is Figure Skating... but I don't like to watch it, I just like to do it 3nodding
Anyways, I've never been beaten up or anything for reading, I've just been made fun of by my friends and people in my grade 3nodding It's hard to talk to a lot of people in my grade because I have to dumb myself down to their level because they don't know what a lot words mean sweatdrop For example: parchment, primitive, spectacles, ect. When I talk about a book to my friend, she'll use words that are somewhat large as well and so whenever one of our other friends listens in on our convorsation they're like, "What in the world are you talking about?" It's kind of hillarious because me and my friend can have an intelligent convorsation, but when we get around our other friends, we have to use small words like "dummy and idiot" and say things like "OMG! Did you hear what happened to So and so today? They were like 'blah blah blah' and she was like 'blah blah blah' It was sooooo funny!" rolleyes Most of our convorsations are based around fights.. Student v.s. teacher, student v.s. student, and all the rumors that are going around our school gonk

I read a lot during class and I don't really pay attention to anything else I'm reading.

My friends fully support my readability so they defend me from the book haters.

We had an end-of-the-year party in like 6th grade and I read through the entire thing. I STILL get teased about that by my friends. I also still always reply, "It was a good book!" and it was, Wildmage by Tamora Pierce.

Yes I can recognise my self in it but I usuly don't care I don't get disturbed by noise and things like that but when someone really disturbed me I usully hit them in the head whit the book. biggrin Last time I did it I read a book that was about 800 pages that must have hurt!

Oh Yes, definitely! Although I think it has more to do with my tastes in books than the fact that I like to read a lot. smile

same thing happens to me all the time, when ever im reading a book my friends keeps saying why dont you put the thing down and i lie and say 'well i have a bookreport thats due' but in truth i just cant stop reading, i have a collge reading level since 6 grade by just reading so much i just cant stop, even my teachers are worried about me cause i read so much

I go to a magnet school so everyone reads books. You should have seen the day that the most recent Harry potter book came out. There wasn't a single person on campus without one of those books for a week!
