'Irene'

Iren finished at the healers place; she'd told her that it may take weeks to heal though the herbs she gave her would speed up the process.
Looking down at the simple bottles and then back at the main building,
"I think it’s been long enough" she said filled with dread for the next turn of events.

Iren grabbed onto Calico's mane and flung herself onto his back, tapping his side quickly as to make him gallop fast. She weaved in and out of the people easily, though to their disapproval. Iren looked up at the quickly approaching building, its decorations sparkling in the sunlight. It made it look beautiful, like a cheesy 'beacon of hope'.

She ran Calico to the side stable, a different one to before, quickening running in as he followed close behind. She stopped at a pen and motioned for him to move in; he did as he was told.
"Thank you again" she grinned at her horse, stroking his nose softly before leaving him.

Iren walked round to the front and walked up the charcoal white stair case, leading to the massive doors that entered into its interior.
The guards obviously recognised her straight away, apparently being a female Handler was rare so she was seen as even more 'different' than the rest.
One of the men came to her side and bent down to her height, scanning her face and the bruise that stained her skin.

"What did you do?" he asked her frowning, obviously showing that the elders wouldn't approve of her 'damaging' herself again.
"I fell" she lied moving back and away from him frowning, "You know I’m late. Just let me through and the elders will deal with me. Apparently there’s a Vestec who’s trying out all the Handlers today, and I should be there" she said firmly to him, knowing he couldn't stop her now. Unwillingly he let her through with a cold look; she watched his face and then turned and walked into the building.
Iren immediately closed her eyes, re-sighting the layout of the base.
"Left, 2 rights, staircase and to the ... left" she said out loud making sure she got it right before running in the directions she just said. She skilfully ran round corners trying not to slip and damage her cheek more.
Reaching the door, Iren stopped moving slowly to the door listening. No one was talking apart from occasional comments. 'Shoot, its started' she panicked outside the door, stepping backwards so they couldn't hear her. 'I have to walk in, but they'll shout.... but what if this Vestecs 'the one'' she argued in her head, doubting that it would be, though she still had hopes.

Finally gathering herself, Iren walked forward pushing the door open with a suprisingly loud screech. The door hit the wall behind it, making everyone turn and look at her.
'I knew he'd be furious' she told herself avoiding the elders eyes,
"I'm sorry i'm late. Things happend" she said quickly, bowing to him. At least she could use the almost purple bruise as an excuse of her absency.
Iren raised her head and looked at the elder, he waved his hand in dismissle and for the event to contiue. She akwardly made her way to the end of the line next to one of her 'friends' who was her age.

"Idiot" he aimed at her, not turning to bother to look at her 'scarred' face. Iren scruched her nose up childishly at him, though he didn't look at her. It was unlikely he saw since he was much taller than her, like the others. Iren was almost the smallest since she was a girl, even though she was the same age as the newest Handlers. Well she was a year older now, though she hasn't been for long.
She waited silently, this was the 3rd time. She hated it. As much as she'd love to have her own Vestec partner, she hated the stress it put her under. She felt constantly sick everytime she was made to do this, Iren didn't even know why that was. 'Its only a kiss' she'd tell herself, laughing at how stupid she sounded

Shalrien and Shade
Guard and unofficial guard of Squad 4

User ImageShalrien and Shade had awoken a little later, the two seeming very confused by the room they were in. "God I hate places like these." She murmured as she rolled out of bed and walked over to the bathroom. Shalrien took a quick bath, at least feeling cleaner as she then got dressed and towel dried her hair a little. Satisfied with her appearance, even though she still looked as though she were raised in the wild, Shalrien and Shade headed down to the bar to get breakfast, already seeing Lux at the bar. "Good morning." Shalrien yawned as she sat down next to Lux, Shade plopping down behind the two. Shalrien ordered two pounds of raw meat, and then a glass of water, the woman throwing the meat to Shade once it arrived, only drinking the water herself. "So you never did tell me, what were you keeping from me?" She asked, still remembering that day when they were sure Mal was dead, and she had yelled at Lux, only to find out that Mal had loved her.

No. No. No. No.... None of the boys had any effect. The younger ones seemed to blush a bit when they kissed her, causing her to guess that she had just stolen their first kiss or something. Hearing the door open, she glanced up and noticed a girl walk in, cocking her head to the side. She noticed the bruise and how she seemed disheveled, but she didn't really care or mind. That was an interesting development though. I've only kissed a couple of girls, and it was in a situation like this.... She blushed a little despite herself, almost at the girl at this point.

No... no... and no..... Mayu now stood face to face with the girl, standing almost as tall as her, feeling a small smile rise to her lips as if to ease the awkwardness of this situation. As with the others, one hand rose up to gently touch the girls neck around the side of her jaw, leaning forward as she did so. Then she kissed her softly. And then she felt the familiar jolt, her eyes flying open as she pulled back slowly. Her eyes were glowing wit a white light that wasn't blinding, a swirling rising in her stomach. Yes. Feeling a little dizzy, she started to fall back, catching herself before she lost balance.

Her cheeks flushed, finally blinking once, the glow beginning to fade as she looked again at the girl in front of her, her hand now at her side. She took another deep breath to settle herself further, the elder drawing her gaze as he spoke.

"Well thats that. Iren, you are now Squad 4's Handler. You need to receive their insignia. The guards will lead you there. As for the rest, you are dismissed. Perhaps another day." He spoke, narrowing his eyes at the troublesome handler, at least glad that now she had a squad. He wouldn't have to worry about her slipping out anymore.

Mayu glanced to the boys as they began to leave, though her gaze was soon drawn to the girl. Iren. "Er.. Welcome to the team. I'm Mayu Nikita, I'm glad to be working with you." She said politely, offering her hand with a warm, friendly smile.

Iren waited, staring at the ground. She already felt dizzy, holding her hands behind her back, digging her nails into her fingers.

When Mayu finally stood before her, she almost jolted backwards away from Mayu's hand. She'd never kissed a girl before though it wasn't that she minded kissing her, Iren leaned inwards, letting Mayu kiss her since that way usually the way it worked.
Iren automatically flinched away when Mayu pulled back, she didn't understand that they where a match. When the elder spoke, she turned and looked at him confused then turning back to Mayu who introduced herself to her.
'She’s a match' she repeated in her head in slight disbelieve yet Mayu seemed to understand it well.
Iren took her hand in an slightly unsure way, though she smiled back also,
"I'm Irene Loun, though I’d rather be called Iren" she said awkwardly, not wanting to lie and say her name was Iren when it wasn't, "I'm looking forward to it" she said in confusion. It was something she'd heard the other Handlers say once picked. Iren was bad with formal moments though she did try.

The two guards came up behind Mayu, signalling in the direction to go. The walk to the room was short yet awkwardly quiet, Iren hadn't really thought about what happens after she’s picked. All she knew was they kill the Deathwalkers and that seemed about it.
They reached the room, opening the door that lead into a small yet brightly lit room.

(( Oh btw~ I thought Iren would be smaller than Mayu since shes younger and naturally small? D:

FFF. I have 2 questions o u o'''
1. When they kiss does it have any affect on the Handler, like loss of stregth?
2. Can you decribe the room since i'm not sure whats meant to be happerning with the insignia thiggy~? ))

Mayu exhaled slowly as the moment passed, her smile softening a bit since this was Irene's first time with this event. "Alright Iren." Now that the room had decided it was good to stop spinning, she straightened up a bit further, noticing that she was, in fact, taller than Irene. That was a first since Shalrien was always taller than her.

Glancing up at the guards approach, she nodded to them, letting her hand slip from Iren's. She did her best to ignore the awkward silence, but it was still there.... the elephant in the room. Once they arrived to the insignia room, for lack of a better title, she stepped in with Irene, nodding to the guards so they would go.

The room wasn't too large, all it needed to fit were a few chairs, a couple of people inside with them. They had strange pens of sorts lying about, different colored inks at the different stations. A woman glanced between the two of them and smirked.

"Who needs what." She asked the pair, her gaze drawn to the taller girl as she stepped forward.

Moving forward she turned so her back faced the woman, pointing to the phoenix tattoo on the back of her shoulder. "Iren here needs our squads insignia." She told her, letting the woman shift her top so she could see the marking better. As she did though, the tip of a scar could just barely be seen, quickly falling out of view as her shirt readjusted back into place.

"Ok! Where would you like it placed?" The woman asked Iren, turning to look at the blonde girl, a hand resting on her hip as she tilted her head.

(( Ah, ok. Sure thing.

1. No, it shouldn't affect the handler like it does the Vestec. I mean, they might feel weird once we actually do work and then the handler has to project the images to the guards, but not like the Vestec no.
2. Sure. ))

Iren moved forward slightly in an attempt to see the insignia mark. Staring at it, she realised the beauty in the marks, the way they bond and mark the members within a squad.
Iren refocused on the woman as she spoke, asking of the place she wanted it to be. Iren went blank minded thinking quickly, she'd almost forgot about the insignia. She hadn’t got a clue where she wanted it. Iren stared at the table for a moment in silence before moving forward to the woman and pulling her left sleeve up.
Iren turned her arm on its side so her thumb was facing upwards, pointing to the side of her arm in-between her rist and elbow,
"Is there okay?" she asked half rhetorical and the other as if it’s only possible in certain places. The woman took her arm carefully pulling it forward, as if to inspect the skin and to see if there were wounds near. The woman looked up and smiled,

"Sure i can, it may take awhile though" the woman said as she walked over to the table where the inks and instruments lay. Picking up the same colours as various sizes of brushes to imprint it.
The woman nodded for Iren to come forward, taking her arm again and begun. The woman had to quickly ask Mayu to show her the mark again one time, but the rest of time was in silence as she worked.

Once finished, the woman lent upwards bringing Iren’s arm to Mayu's back and comparing them together.

"Perfect" she said, admiring her work with a soft smile to both Mayu and Iren.
After that they both left, thanking the woman.
Once outside in the hot sun again, Iren rolled her sleeve down, covering the mark. She looked up at Mayu and finally spoke,
"Are we going to meet with the other members of your group now?" she asked making sure there wasn't anything else she had forgotten, if so she defiantly wanted to collect Calico. She wouldn't leave him behind ever, he was hers now.

(( Ah, thankyou >u <

Mayu observed where she wanted her insignia to be, picturing the phoenix wrapping around her arm. It would look pretty awesome once it was done. When she was asked to show her back again, she turned and allowed her to observe her insignia for as long as she needed to, stepping off to the side while the woman worked on her new handler.

New.... She looked at Irene as the woman worked, unable to not compare her to Mal who had come before, now wondering how her team mates would react since they now had a girl as their handler. I don't think they'd be any different about it.... would they? She drifted off into thought, eventually coming out when she saw the woman move to compare the two tattoos.

As they both headed out, Mayu started to head for the stables, wanting Marianne back as soon as possible. "Yep! We are staying at an inn in the upper class section. It's a little weird there for me, I've never seen such grand buildings and whatnot." She admitted, glancing to Iren's arm as she covered the new tat with her sleeve. It would probably be sore for a while, but it shouldn't affect anything in terms of ability. Soon they were inside the stables, Marianne and Calico already standing apart from the others. Her mare trotted forward and nudged her shoulder gently, making her giggle as she stroked her nose lightly. "Hey... I hope you didn't miss me. I wasn't gone for too long." She smiled, swinging up easily onto the horses back.

Looking over to Calico, she examined parts of him, finding him to be in excellent shape from what she could tell. "He's very handsome." She told Irene, Marianne already walking towards the edge of the stables to head back. Aiya... I hope Shalrien and Lux are almost done talking about whatever it was....

(( It's cool. Um, its more of a tattoo actually, but yeah. xP Also, I'm sorry, but I got some school work to get done so I'm going to head off. I'll be on tomorrow probably around.... 11:45 or so? Anyways, sorry again, I'll catch you guys later! ><))

Iren smiled as Mayu seemed to have a close bond with her horse like she did. Calico snorted, pushing her head with his nuzzles as a greeting. Iren grinned at him before walking back into the stables,
"I just have to get his saddle quick" she shouted back at Mayu so she knew. Before grabbing his saddle she looked across and saw her sword she trains with. 'I guess I’ll be using it for real now' she thought actually finding her leaving sad since she was attached to this place, even though she always talked about when she would leave.
She reached over and took and the silver blade, pushing it into its silver casing that she then strapped to her back so she could reach it if needed. Though she had her Tonfa's in closer range and was more likely to use them. Iren clicked her tongue as a calling for Calico was came trotting to her from outside. She saddled him, pulling it tight under his stomach since they might be riding fast which was what he was best at.
Just before leaving Iren grabbed a bow and arrows,
"I guess you can never be too safe" she smiled to the horse as she attached them both to his saddle since it'd be awkward her trying to carry 3 weapons at one time, though it was doable. Iren touched her cheek again; though most of it was numb the main bone just below her eye had swelled slightly. 'He must have hit their' she thought carefully as she touched it perimeter trying not to push down hard.

Iren walked to Mayu's side again and smiled,
"Upper class? I heard its nice there" she said slightly excited though Mayu seemed to be thinking of something that Iren did not get. She didn't want to hider there new found relationship so instead she didn't question as she pulled herself onto Calico, Mayu doing the same with her horse. "Calico is beautiful" she said laughing slightly, "though so is yours" she said reaching out to gently pat his neck.

They road normal pace back to the Inn, Mayu leading the way there. 'I guess it may take awhile to get used to her' she thought trying to ignore the silence and pretend to be busy with thoughts and observations. 'What about if the rest of the squad doesn't approve of me' she suddenly thought, bring back the feeling of sickness in her stomach as they approached the Inn.
Getting off the horses they lead both of them into the stables, not bothering to tie or unsaddle them since they would be leaving shortly and anyway, Iren couldn't see Calico or Mayu's horse running anywhere too fast without their riders.
They both walked into the cool Inn, squinting in the change of brightness to sudden shade. Iren looked ahead to see two characters sitting together, as Mayu walked towards them she assumed who they were which was the rest of the squad.
Iren inspected them quickly, they both looked older than herself and in deep convosation together which she felt she was intruding on. The female also seemed to have a pet pather or somesort, which scared Iren slightly as she'd never seen one before and didn't know what it was.

(( Kay, i'm heading to bed anyway xD
I'll be on tomorrow around 6pm English time, which i'm guessing is 1pm your time? So i might come on later since you wont be on xD ))

~Senel Krusis~
User Image

Pulling away from Amaya, Senel momentarily kneeled on the floor as the images began to kick in. He felt his eyes shinning brightly for a split second, a feeling he hadn't yet grown accustomed to. After the images were done he quickly reached for his katana and unsheathed it.

"Kill everyone!" He shouted towards Rosa and Gondin before turning towards Amaya. "Stay close," he mumbled before turning around slicing one of the deathwalkers who had managed to near him. There was no doubt they were aiming for Amaya but, there was no way in heaven or hell that they were getting near her.

Amaya
Squad 12's Vestec

User ImageAmaya just nodded quietly to what Senel had said, really more focused on keeping her power going. Vestec could only use their power for so long, then it would start to weaken until they just weren't able to use it. While visions were able to be held longer as they became more accustomed to their power, it took getting used to and a lot of concentration to do so. Still, Amaya was pretty good with her power, but it took lots of energy to keep it going. She could probably hold it for an hour, but after that, it would fade unless Senel kissed her again.

Gondin
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Gondin had been prepared for things to go south, and as soon as the party started both swords were in his hands, nearly weightless with the use of his power.

This was the kind of fight Gondin liked with the deathwalkers. Not that he liked any fight with deathwalkers at all, but this kind was better than most. Out in the open, with the civilians running, and therefore out of the way. While wielding long swords in either hand proved absurdly effective for killing, they weren't so good when he had to worry about specific targets.

Everyone in the party seemed to have their own style. Amaya's was to collapse on the ground. Which wasn't really a style he supposed, but it was just how things always went. Giving them vision taxed her to her limits. Senel stuck by her side and acted as a last defense for her against the monsters. Rosa was offense, but she played defense too. Throwing needles to blind the enemy, kicking them around, and in general just punishing them for making even the slightest tactical mistake.

Gondin wasn't particularly great for defense. Sure, he made a great meat shield, but in a situation like this, his fighting style would put them just as much at risk as any deathwalker. He watched as the monsters started trying to form groups to attack in a more organized fashion. The results of Rosa's tactics. Gondin just grinned. He and Rosa were a fantastic team really.

He hurled himself in to a group of the deathwalkers, taking them by surprise with his recklessness. Both long swords whirled about him, practically a sphere of death as he moved. His fantastic natural agility combined with the weight reduction of his swords allowed him to swing them at such speeds he had cut through solid wood supports in a building before. Limbs flew, heads rolled, and only one of the beasts managed to escape to try and form ranks with another group. Which Gondin then threw himself at with abandon.

He didn't consider it berserking. Berserkers disregarded their health entirely. Gondin wasn't that insane, and he did pay close attention to his vital points. But he totally ignored any sort of attack that wouldn't cripple him or mortally wound him. He had almost died of blood loss once. But it had only been once. And he had made it through just fine.

The second cluster fell to pieces around him, and he roared a battle cry that ended in deep thundering laughter as the few stragglers tried to regroup once more. He could already see blood slicking his arms from numerous wounds. Once the adrenaline subsided he was going to be in a world of hurt. But until then, there was vengeance to be played out.

Gondin hurled himself in to battle once more. The others could play some defense and keep Amaya safe. He would play offense.

Rosa Zabójca
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Rosa didn't need to be told twice as Senel took over keeping an eye on Amaya. The minute he was there, she was off like an arrow, flying through the storm of people on the opposing side to the group that Gondin took on. Her spears blades glinted as she spun and sliced through her enemies, ducking and dodging on occasion when it called for it.

Wielding her spear with one hand, she threw a few more needles at the rest of the group she just sliced through, the rest going down with a poof of smoke. Then there was the little girl ahead of her. She had this grin on her lips as she devoured the rest of her form, rising into it's full form. It was like the Deathwalker was made of liquid shadow, your eyes just sort of gliding off of it. It stood out in the sun, almost as if it really did absorb the light around it.

She had noticed Senel seeming conflicted about killing a child, but this was no child anymore. Feinting to the right, she dodged an attack as it's fingers extended forward to shoot at her, continuing to move forward. It was obviously an older Deathwalker, maybe it was the first one that had attacked this poor town.

What was eerie was now it giggled. Yes, this big creature of death and fear giggled like a little girl, the sound still distorted but clear in it's imitation. Finally she was in range, stabbing forward with her spear as she threw a needle towards it's molten eyes. It laughed and blocked the attack, it's entire arm coming around like a whip with a sharp tip. Darting around to the back, she spun her spear a few times in an attack, each one blocked. This is going nowhere fast. She brought up her spear and parried a few blows the creature sent her way, now getting to the point where she was debating using her element.

"Whats the matter miss? Are you growing tired of our game? I would hope not, I want to have some more fun!" The thing laughed, the voice still that of a distorted little girl.

"Shut the hell up you изверг!" She snapped, disgusted at how it tried futily to appeal to her emotions. Gathering up her strength, she spun her spear and attacked, her body moving as if in a dance. Her mind was focused on something else entirely, her blood growing hot as she thought of what she wanted to do. She kicked off of the creatures chest suddenly, launching herself into the air with a slash upward, cutting the creatures arm. It let out a roar of frustration and pain, surprised as she suddenly held her hand forward, a fireball shooting into it's face.

Landing lightly several feet away, Rosa panted slightly, a little drained from using that once. But it was worth it as the Deathwalker flailed it's arms, the flames licking from the face now to the shoulders. Summoning up her speed, she ran forward, stabbing the monster in the chest before turning the spear and bringing it out to the side so one of the side blades slashed through the rest of it's chest. With a scream, it let out a cloud of smoke as it collapsed, the flames still licking at it as the pile of ashes formed.

Now the other Deathwalkers seemed more on alert, forming still tighter groups in an attempt to change their tactics. She winced as she suddenly felt a Deathwalker's fingers stab through her arm, spinning about with a throwing knife that flew into the creatures skull. Ignoring the wound for now, she rejoined the fray, knowing this would end soon considering the rate at which they were killing these things.

Mayu Nikita
Squad 4's Vestec

User Image

Mayu waited patiently for her, honestly not in too huge of a rush considering. She felt a little awkward though since she watched Iren grab all of those weapons, and she was reminded of how useless she was in a fight. She wanted to work on it, she really did, but what could she do? Archery might work.... Maybe... It was such a stretch since she had no idea how long she'd have to use her abilities for, or how tired she'd end up afterwards.

"It is. I'm just not used to it is all." She answered, a nervous chuckle following since most seemed to enjoy it. It was just...... different. Really, really different. Blushing slightly, she ran a hand through Marianne's mane, looking at the white streak and black spots. "Thank you. She's been my one constant friend since I left my home." She spoke softly, now starting to move since Iren was ready.

They fell into silence again, but Mayu didn't find it too awkward. As they passed the market, she touched the hair clip just above her right ear, a small smile on her lips. Maybe she should look for some things for the villagers.... Sighing, she wondered how everyone was doing. I hope they are alright.... Her expression became hard to read, her brown eyes staring ahead distantly.

Soon they reached the inn, snapping out of her thoughts since she hated looking down around her two guards, and now around Iren. Sliding off, she led Marianne to the stables, a boy running forward to take them for them. Walking in with their new handler, she waved to Shalrien and Lux, still sensing a heavy weight in the air. She smiled as Shade raised his great head, walking over to him to pet his silky fur. Straightening up, she made sure that there was a lull in the conversation since she didn't want to interrupt, gesturing to Iren with a smile. "We have a new Handler. Iren, this is Shalrien, Shade, and Lux," she gestured to each when she said their name respectively, now doing the same for Iren. "And this is Irene, or Iren as she prefers to be called." She finished with the introductions, offering a bright smile to her team mates to keep things hopefully a little less awkward.

Iren moved forwards as Mayu did, though she moved away and out of reach of the strange Black Panther creature. It seemed to be friendly but those kinds of creatures where apparently famous for the sudden mood changes, attacking without though.
Iren looked forwards at the both after Mayu finished, and smiled not needing to say anymore. She bowed forwards slightly, assuming that was also there custom as respect since its meaning had spread over many clans and races, making it of high respect if bowed low.
"Nice to meet you" she said unsure if it sounded wrong in this context, though she was sure at least Mayu would tell her so.

Shalrien and Shade
Guard and unofficial guard of Squad 4

User ImageAs Shalrien waited for Lux to respond, their conversation was interrupted by Mayu, who had a new woman following her. Shade picked her head up and purred softly when Mayu pet her, though the cat seemed a little wary of the newcomer. After the girl was introduced, Shalrien nodded lightly, sliding off her chair and stepping over Shade to shake Irene's hand. "Nice to meet you." She said calmly, her thought's still seeming elsewhere. However, Shalrien could tell that the girl was nervous about Shade, most people were when they first met the cat, but once Shade warmed up to you, she was usually a gentle kitten. Smiling lightly, she looked down at Shade and gave her a light kick in the side, making the cat jump up in surprise. "Shade won't hurt you, she's bigger than an normal panther, but she's alright." Shalrien said as she patted the cat's side. Shade circled Irene for a moment, before rubbing her head on the girl's shoulder, a soft purr escaping before she walked back over to Shalrien's side and plopped back on the floor to finish her breakfast.
