"It's not your fault," he said more firmly as he closed his eyes, "The way you feel or don't feel about someone isn't something you can control.."
"I can't.. and I won't blame you because of how you feel about him... The only thing I can really blame is life itself..." Shun continued. He was starting to have a hard time speaking again, but it wasn't due to anything physical. It hurt to talk about this, but he wanted to try and make her understand.
"..If... if he makes you happy.. then I really have no right to even try and spite you for it... You deserve to be happy Mitsu... to have a good life and love and all that... If a part of that means b-being with D-Desmond.. so be it.."
There was no bitterness in his tone. No sense of coldness either for that matter. It was soft, and filled with sorrow instead.
"You're a sweet girl.. with a sort of beauty I hadn't seen in anyone else.."
She was far more than what he personally deserved. But all this knowledge didn't do much to ease the strong ache that had developed within him.

As his voice began to waver Mitsu could tell she was only making the situation worse by continuing with this subject. She didn't want him to be upset, she wanted him to be happy but there was really no way for her to make him so. At least none that she knew of. She was just going to have to deal with the fact that there was no quick fix to this problem. But he hadn't turned away from her, hadn't told her to go away, so there was still hope that things would eventually be okay. She hadn't lost his friendship...as far as she knew.
"You deserve to be happy too Shun, I want you to remember that." Mitsu said softly venturing to look up toward his face. "And I want you to be happy."

For a moment, Shun's eyes met with Mitsu's, but slowly they drifted away and towards the ground once more. His soup had been finished, so he set the container aside for the time being and took one of the slices of apple, taking a moment to just stare at it.
"Pretty much my only purpose in life as far as I know.. is to end others. Does someone like that really deserve happiness?" he asked quietly.
"Happiness was never really something that came by me anyway."

"That's not your choice..." Mitsu continued, "I think you deserve to be happy.." Her eyes were suddenly sad as she turned away from him again. So...had he never really been happy? Was she that bad of a friend that she had never noticed before? "I'm sorry..." Was all she could manage. From there she was silent, quietly fiddling with the bag in her hand unwilling to eat any of the food within.

Eyes softening at her words, Shun took a nibble of the apple and just kept staring off into nothingness. He didn't look up again until she apologized, in which his eyes settled onto hers once more.
"Why...are you apologizing?" he asked, "I already told you... this isn't your fault."

"You've...apparently not been happy all along...and I never noticed. I..really am a bad friend." Bag in hand Mitsu started to push her way off the bed, eyes still focused on the floor. "I'll....have Bent-tail come up to check on you. I'm sure he's still worried." Clutching the bag close Mitsu could feel the knife poking through it ever so slightly. She needed to return it but didn't know if she would... "I...hope you feel better soon."

"You're not... And I wouldn't expect you to notice.. I.. feel more at ease when you're around. I might not be.. happy but I feel.. content in the least," he said softly before letting out a sigh.
"Some of my best moments have been with you.." he uttered before shaking his head, "If anything it's probably me that's weighing you down with these sorts of thoughts."
Perhaps he should have never spoken how he felt that day. Then again, Shun never really said much of how he felt before then. This seemed to be a bad thing..
Lowering his head, he just gripped onto the piece of apple in silence.

"And if it wasn't because of me...you wouldn't be like you are now.." Mitsu replied softly. "I guess I should be happy to know...I was a little comfort to you. At least until now." Shaking her head lightly she headed toward the door.
"It's not your fault what I think....I-" Her words seemed to escape her as a massive headache took over. Nearly dropping the bag Mitsu clung to it with one arm while her other hand went to her head. "I...I should.." She started to mutter something else but it didn't seem to be of any normal language. "I..need my m..m..medicine." She hated to take it so early but mentally she felt like she was skating on thin ice and it was already starting to break through...and whatever laid underneath was something she didn't want to set free.

"...You still are.."
It was strange. It hurt and comforted him at the same time to be around her, though he wasn't about to bring up the conflicting emotions. Looking up at her as she seemed to struggle, he looked rather concerned with what was happening to her.
"Do.. you have it with you..?" he asked. That reminded him that he still needed to try and find some way he could help her with this issue. Shun didn't understand it completely, but he knew it was important for her sake that she had the medicine.

Mitsu shook her head. "No..back..at the dorm." She couldn't seem to speak clearly her words coming with great effort. Turning she reached for the door handle but missed it on the first few times like she couldn't see straight. When she finally grabbed hold of it she pulled the door open too hard and managed to pull the handle somewhat free from the wooden casing. "S..sorry." She couldn't control it, she needed to leave before something else was broken or worse....she hurt someone.

Standing up now, Shun furrowed his brow and stared as she damaged the door. He didn't really care about that, but she seemed on the brink of something and that had him worried. The assassin wasn't sure what could happen, but he wanted to be around to make sure everything was alright.
"..Let me go with you.." he pleaded while taking a step towards her.

"No!" Mitsu had almost yelled out as she stumbled into the hallway. "J..just stay here..where its safe. Y..you followed me before...and were hurt. I..it..would be no different now. I..it would be no different." She continued to mutter.
Starting down the hall without even closing the door, Mitsu clung to the paper bag effectively crushing her sandwich. Her walking was unsteady as she continued to move but she suddenly froze in her path when she heard people heading in her direction. That's right, school was out. The students were out and about now. What was she going to do?

As she left, Shun stepped out to watch her go, conflicted in what to do. There were other people in the hall, which made sense as others were likely headed to their rooms after their classes and after-school activities. With a grimace, he quietly stepped out to follow her, though he kept his distance to try and avoid being noticed.
All he wanted was to make sure she would be alright..

Still frozen where she stood Mitsu could hear the students getting closer. She was so zoned into that she had no idea Shun had followed her into the hallway. In a moment of confusion Mitsu looked down at the knife poking out of the paper bag in her arms. Slowly she reached up and grabbed the blade in her hand and pulled it the rest of the way free. What did she have in mind? She really had no idea but it seemed like a good idea to have something sharp to defend herself with.
When the students stepped into the hallway they barely seemed to notice a female student in their path. They were more focused on chatting amongst themselves. As they approached though one of the boys finally took note and seemed to realize who was there. It wasn't a boy Mitsu knew well, just a random classmate but he seemed to stop all the same seeing the confused and bewildered look in her eyes. "Hey...uhh...Mitsu? What are you-" His words were cut short seeing the knife in her hands. She was still holding the blade and in a death grip no less, but that didn't keep him from looking concerned. "W..what's with the knife?"
Shifting nervously in place, Mitsu clutched the knife until she could feel the blade boring into her hand. Drawing it back it looked like she was ready to stab the boy with it, though she would do little more than hit him with the hilt since it was still turned the wrong way.

Shun wasn't too far behind when he saw her take out the knife from her bag. Furrowing his brow, he soon had a clear idea of what she had in mind. As quickly as his worn body could take him, he rushed to close the gap. Something must have been going on with her like when she had snapped in the basement.
He was still rather weary and drained from everything, but the pain from the thing Suto gave him had gone by now. The food did help a little too.
Reaching out once he was nearby, he went to grab a hold of her wrist to keep her from striking anyone. Regardless if she was going to smack the guy with the hilt of the knife, he didn't think her hitting anyone would be a good thing.
