Marlene "Sadness was the price to see it end." "So many times when the city seems to be Without a friendly face A lonely place It's nice to know that you'll be there if I need you And you'll always smile It's all worthwhile." "Aww... okay!" Marlene swiftly hopped off Zola's chest, therefore landing on the floorboard away from the flowers. She didn't want to step on any, in fear that Aerith would yell at her. The fact that Zola was on the flowers made a pout escape her lips. "Well, you won't get one until you get off the flowers!" She yelled, pretending to be angry when she was actually delighted to see her winged friend alive and well.

"What's the point of these anyway?" He carefully got away from the flower patch. "...Never mind. If it's Important to you, then it's obviously something I wouldn't understand." he sighed, glancing out to them.

Marlene "Sadness was the price to see it end." "So many times when the city seems to be Without a friendly face A lonely place It's nice to know that you'll be there if I need you And you'll always smile It's all worthwhile." Marlene handed him a flower, staring up at him with gleaming, brown eyes that contained a melancholy essence. "Aww... why don't I teach you? Hee-hee, come on, sit by me!" She attempted to do a 360 degree spin but only ended up falling on her bottom. Where she sat, she held out the daffodil in her hand near the daffodil she handed to Zola. "See? They're friends... just like us! So... they should be treated just like us! Just like you didn't like me jumping on you... they wouldn't like you jumping on them, get it?" She lowered her head, seeing a faint image of Tifa in the beauty of the flower. Tears began to erupt in her eyes, though she quickly wiped them away with her sleeve. Her head rose so her eyes could see Zola, a big smile across her features as usual. "...they don't have very long to live... sadly. But the fact that they don't live as long, means we should treat them even better! So they'll be happy when they go bye bye... "

"...I see..." Zola looked down apologetically, gently taking the offered daffodil. "...I've been...Rather lonely... I don't know why..." Zola didn't know why he was even saying this, but he wouldn't stop. "I feel like I'm more than what I thought myself to be... But I keep going back to doing these bad things... Chemists have the worst lives, I guess..."

"...I'm... Not as emotionless as I act..." Zola sighed.

"So many times when the city seems to be Without a friendly face A lonely place It's nice to know that you'll be there if I need you And you'll always smile It's all worthwhile." Marlene tilted her head, unable to understand his words, but still determined to remove the frown from his face. She mocked him jokingly by releasing a sigh then poked him on the cheek. "I can tell you're not emotionless. You keep sighing... that's a sign of sadness! Her feet carried her off to the aisle of the church where she came to a grinding halt. She turned to give a big smile to Zola while at the same time hopping up and down consecutively. "You're only lonely because you're frowning. If you smile you won't be alone anymore!"

"...Smile..." Zola thought. "If I smiled more, I wouldn't be this lonely?...No... I bet it'd take more than that... I bet I'll have to forgive myself...For what I've done with my life." He looked up, trying to understand. "Marlene... Maybe you'll understand someday..." He finally smiled, thanks to her.
Then, a loud thud came from the doors, as well as a shout of pain.

Then, the purple-clad one himself came through the doors, followed by his Black Chocobo. He was growling with pain and anger. He turned to said chocobo. "Hydra you idiot! I told you to wait until I said jump!" he yelled. The chocobo chirped."Just because we know where he is doesn't mean ya just freefall off of a church! I don't have feathers!" Chiirrrp."Not in this form I don't!" Zola just ducked his head down. He knew something like this would happen...

( Sorry, I had horrible connection last night! ^^" ) Marlene "Sadness was the price to see it end." "So many times when the city seems to be Without a friendly face A lonely place It's nice to know that you'll be there if I need you And you'll always smile It's all worthwhile." Hurriedly, Marlene ran behind a bench in one of the many church aisles when a sudden noise caused her to react so dramatically. Her body coward in fear until what sounded to be a Chocobo made her think twice of her action. From what she can tell with only half of her face revealed above the bench, the man was being strict to the Black Chocobo. It seemed as if it was having fun disrespecting it's owner. A chuckle retreated from her mouth, but then it immediately stopped. She tip toed over to Zola and stayed close behind him. "Is he a bad guy?"

"Uhm... Actually..." Zola was dead embarassed, only showing it with his eyes. How was she supposed to tell her about his 'mission'?
"...Zola?" Gauntila walked up to them, evidently riled by the green-haired boy. "Why're you here?"
"Gauntila..." Zola seemed to choke up. "I-I was just... Brooding... Marlene, this is Gauntila Kingsworth... A person I've hurt many times..."
"What was that?" Gaun was a bit confused. "Why'd you say that? Don't you have something agains-"
"I'm sorry..." That stopped Gaun from talking. "For all the things I've done... I'm...I want to apologize. For the pain, the experiments, everything. I thought I was doing the world a favor, but I'm no different from the monsters I've tried to end. I apologize fully for everything!"
That was the first time since he was little that he'd ever exclaimed anything or felt so badly.
A minute later, they both told Marlene their stories and of their rivalry up until now.
(just go to Claw/Chemist/Soldier/Turk--Maru-s RPCs for their stories.)

"...I must leave as well..." Zola looked up at the glass window of the church roof. "...Marlene, I promise we'll meet again. I swear it on my green hair." he smirked jokingly before leaving, tucking the daffodil in his jacket.
He'd be going after Hojo once again.
