“No,” The companion countered with a welcoming smile, “I merely require the extra space to perform my rituals. Surely the trip will take more than a day. More like a week minimum. I must be able to perform my special exercises.” Was she insinuating something? The way those words melted out of her mouth like milk chocolate it might have been understood as some kind of insinuation. “I hope you can understand.”

The captain figured as much and pointed towards one of the shuttle hatches "Then why not we set you up with one of those? They're bigger than a standard room and can leave the ship when needed. That way you can go about your business and when you're done we pick you put and keep on going." He headed over to the hatch of the shuttle and popped it open before motioning for her to enter and check it out "It aint nothing pretty mind you but far as I understand, whores don't need pretty surroundings to make their clients sweaty and compliant. Isn't that right?"

A shuttle? Now that was a much greater improvement on living conditions. Ariel followed the captain up and with the added instruction she passed over the threshold and found herself inside a steely shell. There was more than enough space for her to make it her own. The only draw back of the whole thing was that she didn’t know how to control such a craft? Perhaps lessons could also be purchased? ”If you’re charging me the same that you would for two dorm rooms, well I’d say I’m sold,” she smiled back toward him.
"It aint nothing pretty mind you but far as I understand, whores don't need pretty surroundings to make their clients sweaty and compliant. Isn't that right?"
His vulgar tongue did little to phase her though his words were rather offensive. She could imagine him on a slab in one of the many ugly places she would set up shop. Drills would growl off somewhere in the dark, rotary saws slashing the air, and a pool of blood growing around her feet. It felt warm and sticky between her toes. The gentle companion laughed lyrically at the Captains comment, ”well I’m not familiar with your brand of whores I’m afraid. A companion of my standing is much more respectful and discrete,” That warm welcoming smile of hers never faltered framed by her smooth brunette wig, ”perhaps we can talk about this another time. So that you may have a better understanding about how a companion helps others.” She allowed her eyes to wander once she said that, perhaps another insinuation? Ariel would never tell. The woman laughed lyrically once again and helped herself back onto the catwalk.
”If someone will help bring my trunks in there I may begin unpacking.”

At that moment Shell came bounding up the ramp carrying a large crate on his shoulders. "Sounds like a job for me! That's what the cap pays me for after all. That n' bein' so gorram pretty." He hauled the crate down and lowered it to the floor with care. Despite the shortness of the drop when he released it, it still made a resounding thud. "Mostly bein' pretty." He glanced around the cargo bay to locate what was new, as this would be the luggage, and once he had he noted, askance, the state it was in - the clothing hanging out - he gave those assembled a curious look. "Someone was in an awful hurry to get offworld. No complaints though, no complaints. Transport's good money." He lifted as much as he could make it up the stairs with and set off to hustle right up.

Nat was still ruminating about what Erin had called Ariel."She's not a whore you know... At one point when I was twelve, I wanted to go to the academy."
"I don't mean it to be derogatory, that's her job, saying companion is just a way of trying to make it look like it should be a respected occupation... Think of it like these braces. Just cause you're painting them doesn't change them."
"An onion isn't a pumpkin."
"Huh?"
"They're both vegetables, but you definitely don't cook them the same, very little about them is even similar."
"Listen, I'm not saying that I don't like her, Even if I didn't like onions when I was a kid, it doesn't mean I won't like them now. I think this crew is the embodiment of second chances. You for example are the daughter of a bunch of Alliance friendly pricks... no offense. But I like you as an individual. Shell is an ex-purple belly, but he's still cool as far as I'm concerned. I'm a lame pilot, but the captain still has me flying this ship. Yuri was a stowaway, and trust me, I don't like stowaways, but he's an alright kid.
I'm giving her a chance, just don't call an apple an orange."
"Great now I'm hungry." Nat was trying to end the conversation, while she was more than ready to go back to her Socratic dialogues, she knew that it would just cause conflict, she was as firm in her beliefs as Erin was in her own.
"You can eat after we get the bird in the air... Remember the protein bars?"
"Hey, it was like my second time taking off, and I wasn't expecting the turbulence. You can't hold that over my head forever."
Erin laughed lightly as she exited Nat's room, and headed up to the bridge to check on the fuel's status. On the way to the helm, she found shell loading the woman's luggage into one of the shuttles. She spoke quietly."So, who's watching our guest while Stephan gives us info on our mission?"

The captain was a little impressed, normally that remark either gets a gasp of outrage and a slap across the face or an out right departure of the deal. Which meant that her destination was far more important to her than her dignity... either that or she just didn't let people get her mad. Either way, she was willing to deal and Shelly as always was more than willing to help and make a general fool of himself. "Well... looks like you have a volunteer. So I'll leave you to your unpacking while I tend to things else where."
With that he took his leave of the shuttle and as he crossed paths with Shell he said in a hushed voice "Don't go workin' that crush too hard, you might make a fool of yourself." He then past by him and headed down the stairs to where he had heard Carin calling for him "Well aint I the popular one?" His cocky smile on, he stopped but a few feet from her and asked "What can I do you for Carin?"

"Thank you captain," Ariel nodded, switching her attention onto the new face. It was probably the first male besides the captain she had seen so far. He seemed eager to help, and she was more than happy to accept his aid. He must have been very strong to carry her trunks like that, especially given the amount of stuff stuffed inside them. Her eyes crossed his form and took note of the sweat and dirt lightly grazing his skin. Shaking hands would be rather unsanitary for the time being, so the would-be companion merely bowed her head in friendly greeting, "thank you, kind sir, for helping me. My name is Ariel Sol, and who might you be?"
She heard the comment regarding her rush packing job and merely shrugged it off. The man was right, transport was good money.

Shell froze at the captain's words, eyes glazing over as if he were an animal that had been cornered. As the captain passed though and his mind began to work, it became clearer to what the captain was referring and he let out a sigh of relief. He even let out a little laugh, but he broke it off quickly. The lady was speaking to him now, and he was obliged to answer. "My pleasure, ma'am. Truth be known, it really is my job. We don't take on space hands, so general loading and unloading falls to everyone, but I'm naturally most suited so I try to take the brunt of it. My name is Shelly Graham, but I prefer to be called by Shell. Pleasure to meet you."

“That comes as no surprise that you would be doing most of the heavy lifting,” Ariel replied casually, “given the number of women on this ship and their professions.” The comment might have come across as a sexist one. But she herself was rather weak when it came to such things, so it was easier for her to grasp that men were just better when it came to physical work. Women were better at many other things. Ariel moved toward the hatch, watching Shell place the two trunks side by side in the middle of the floor. Suddenly a obvious issue sprung up in her minds eye. If she was to stay here, just where would she sleep? She saw no bed within the tiny shuttle, perhaps the captain intended to bring one from the dorms?
“Thank you Shell,” Ariel nodded her head toward him, still wearing that mask of absolute respect, “But I must ask another favor of you. I will need a bed if I’m expected to stay in here. Are there any kicking around the ship?” The woman’s head tilted to the side as she gave the purdy male an inquisitive stare. “I shall begin to unpack in the meantime.” Ariel would cross the floor back to her trunks, popping only one open to reveal the stacks of clothing and fabrics within. She had built up a sizeable collection of beautiful fashions that caught the eye, hopefully it would all fit within one of the storage closets in the shuttle.

Carin arched a brow as she closed the distance between herself and the captain. An oddly smug look graced her face as she quickly hid a small box behind her back before she bounced back and forth on the balls of her feet. "Well Captain.. You are indeed quite a hot comodity." She teased as she fidgeted for a moment before presenting him with a small box that fit in the grip of two hands together. "I had to barder quite a bit for this.. I hoped to offer it to you as a kindness." She added her eyes darting off to the side as she felt slightly embarassed. "I know they are hard to find but.. I couldn't resist since I know how much your fond of the berry." She added waiting for him to grab the box from her hands. Inside were not one but four fresh ripe strawberries.

The captain could tell right off the bat she was up to something, she didn't have that kind of look and excited movement without reason after all. He kept a straight face for the most part, taking the box he looked inside and there was a moments consideration taken of the spectacle he was bearing witness to. "Huh..." he said with a surprised tone before closing the box and stashing it under his arm were she couldn't take it back from easily as he asked with a slight of suspicious tease "Alright... what's the catch? Not that I'm not appreciating the gesture but... these aint something one just seeks as a kindness."

Carin gave him a look of reproach. “You would honestly think I had an ulterior motive to my kindness? For shame Stephen..” She said before crossing her arms in front of her chest as her body quickly took a defensive posture. “I remembered how fond of them you were so I choose to buy them for you..” She said in a slight huff she should have figured her Captain would be suspicious of a random act of kindness especially from a member of the crew who did her best to remain out of sight a ninety eight percent of the time.

"Don't see how gender has much to do with it," he replied, then he leaned in almost conspiratorially. "Between you and me, I'm really quite big and strong. It's cuz I eat my space vegetables." He stood straight up again and laughed. "Naw, haven't seen a vegetable in years actually." When the trunks were delivered and he was just about to go, she called on him to obtain a bed. Shell, being Shell, was only too willing to oblige. "Well, I wouldn't know about all that.... But I'll ask around for you, ma'am. See if I can't find you something," he said. "I'll return shortly."
With that he began stalking about the ship, searching for the captain, but also checking around where he would for a bed that wasn't bolted down. He found the captain with Carin soon enough and approached them. "Hey, captain, the new transportee needs a bed in the shuttle, apparently. Every one I know of's bolted down. Are we smuggling beds in here somewhere by chance?" He stopped and looked from one to the other. "Bad time? Should I come back?"

The captain was touched by her consideration, he might have even shown a tad more appreciation had Shelly not interrupted. Looking to the bronze of the ship, he said "No, shiny." and considered what had been mentioned before quickly coming up with a plan. "No, we're not Shell but I imagine our guest will require furnishings for her rented shuttle considering her line of work... so perhaps it best we let her take a few hours to shop around town and find what she desired while the rest of us attend to our meeting with Siouxsie. We can have Ariel's purchases delivered to the ship and loaded on when we return from dinner." Looking between Shell and Carin he added "That way none of us miss out on our dinner or payment. Sound good? Good, cuz I wasn't asking."
Pointing up to the shuttle hatch he said "Shell, fill her in on the details and give her 10 to get moving. Times a wasting and if I have to hear your stomach growl louder than Carin's I'm going to be tempted to buy fuzzy ear muffs the likes of which probably will make a statement none too complimentary to my character." With that he motioned for Shell to get a move on as though every second really did matter.
Looking to Carin again he tapped the top of the box with a nod and then changed the subject "Best to get yourself ready Carin, if so far is any sign of what's to come... Siouxsie is going to have a hell of a meal for us." That was probably the best thank you she was going to get out of him with other ears around, he did after all have to maintain a level of professionalism even when presented with such a rare and wonderous gift.

"Sounds.. good." She said as she darted a look at Shelly before deciding the Engine room needed much more of her attention. Carin gave the Captain a look before silently turning around on the balls of her feet. She now planned on remaining silent until she found something that needed fixin' in that ol' engine room of her's she glanced at Shell again almost as if thinking of what she could have done ta' him but alas she did enjoy his friendship so the poor gal wasn't gonna mop the floor with him for ruining a moment of kindness for her. She made a beeline for the engine room to begin some work replacing some of the parts she managed to snatch up for low prices before the Captain or Shell asked her what was up.
A good thing too.. She needed to replace several vital parts before this Lady of a ship could take flight without harmin' herself.
