Sasuke furrowed his brow in annoyance, running one hand through his hair, a nervous gesture. "No, I'm not. You could have just asked." At least now he knew his brother hadn't been trying to feel him up.

Itachi stared at him for a moment then shrugged. "I left to take care of myself. That isn't a sin, the last time I checked. I figured you'd be taken care of, I didn't know the old fart wouldn't adopt you."

Itachi sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Sasuke, wait." He might need an ally, and Itachi was firmly aware just how few he had. Rising to the top made more enemies than it gained friends. A cop on his side, that was even better than some Yakuza punk.

Sasuke considered leaving, but in the end, still couldn't bring himself to disobey a direct order from his brother. He glanced back. "What do you want?"

"I don't know," Sasuke snapped, turning around. "Maybe care enough to check and make sure that the little brother that you SUPPOSEDLY loved was alright, instead of trusting the words of virtual strangers?"

Itachi flicked the cigerette butt away from him then considered Sasuke's words. He held no regrets for what he did, and lived by that. "I'm not perfect, Sasuke. Didn't you figure that out by now? Besides, as far as I knew at the time, you were some place better."

Sasuke rolled his eyes, throwing up his hands. "Fine. You murdered my entire family and left me to the "care" of the foster care system, didn't even bother to so much as check on me, all so that you could kill people and make money, but no, you didn't do anything wrong."

"What are you more upset at? That I didn't check up on you enough, or that I didn't come to your rescue?" All this arguing was making him want another smoke. He wondered if he could bribe Kisame into bringing him a new pack later.

Deal with it, if you can, and move on." Itachi paused, eyes narrowing once more. "Who exactly was this foster father of yours?" That might be public record, and if he were still alive, Itachi would fix that.

Sasuke's anger welled up again at Itachi's first words. He basically bares his soul to his brother, and that's what he gets? Fine, then. Screw him. "His name is Orochimaru." He was done with this. He didn't need to dwell on things that didn't matter anymore. Hopefully, Itachi would be convicted and go to prison. If not, fine. Sasuke was through with him. He turned and walked back to the cell door, stepping out of the cell.
