Donavon smiled and asked, "You couldn't even change you're appearance? You mean you were like the rest of us average people? That's awful." He shook his head sadly and laughed before grinning at her, showing he was only teasing. "Why would that happen though?" He asked, now truly wondering. He couldn't change his appearance at will so he didn't know too much about how it worked. He didn't know she'd been as upset as she was, plus he had heard in Rooster's letter how Jess and Roxx had told her about him being completely fine. He knew she didn't buy it eventually, but had figured since he read that, that she'd spent most of her summer in peace.

Ayamae rested her head on his shoulder and looked down at the grounds. She hated to bring her up, but she wasn't going to lie to him.
"I thought you'd run off with Emily...I thought that until I got here and saw that Paravion was here without you. I was depressed, went on an eating binge to end all eating binges...."

Donny' face turned even paler than usual, like it had when Kyle walked in, and he looked ghostly for a moment. When he found his voice a minute later he said; "Never!" Indignantly. "I would never, never leave you." He held her close as if she was going to disappear. A tiny part of him was amazed she cared about him that much, enough to lose her powers, enough to change completely. He never knew he meant this much to her. Still... "I would never leave you." He repeated firmly as if contradicting someone in a debate. "You've never given up on me when I've seemed hopeless, it wouldn't be right for me to leave someone who's done so much for me and who I love more than anything. When I slept in the woods, I thought of you. When I was in jail, I thought of you. When I was in an alley, I thought of you. It was your patronus that forced me back here, it was your voice. Not Emily's. I won't lie and say I never thought of her once, but she didn't get me here. She's gone, I saw her die. She was my best friend and never anything more, no matter what she thought of me. It's sad that she had to go, and I'll miss her. But not the way I'd miss you."
He said it all with an air of being obvious, being something that he'd known for years and the one thing he was sure of. He turned a bit pink because he knew he'd rambled, but he felt like he needed to say it.

Ayamae couldn't help herself. He was so cute when he was embarassed. She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him hard on the mouth. She couldn't believe how much she meant to this man, had never realized how he really truly felt...she'd never been more happy to be with someone.

Donny wasn't expecting it and nearly lost his balance at first but put his arms around her and kissed her, feeling like he'd just been shot from a cannon, the swooping sensation that he'd just missed a step going down the stairs, but he didn't fall, he was floating in mid-air and Ayamae was the only thing that mattered. He pulled her in close to him so it was like a tight embrace with their lips locked. Not only had he forgotten her beauty, but the way she kissed him as well.

Ayamae broke apart from Donny and wrapped her arms around him to cuddle his chest.
"It's getting late."

His heart sank a little bit, he didn't want her to leave. But she was probably right. "Yeah, you're right." He sighed. "I'll see you tomorrow, I love you." He kissed her gently on the lips for a few moments, then broke apart. He walked down the steps to where he slept and waved goodbye.
He honestly had never felt so grateful to see her, it had been so long.

Ayamae watched him leave with a sinking feeling in her chest, but she knew that she'd get to see him in the morning. After staring at the night sky for a little longer, she followed suit and went to her office to sleep.

Donavon found himself on the astronomy tower again, gazing at the stars. Not for any cheesy reasons anymore, not trying to reach them, not because they meant something to him, but just because. It was just relaxing, and he often wished Ayamae were here with him. He felt much better concerning his weight, he was now about the weight of the skinnier female Professors, so he was at least the right weight for his age, though not his gender and height quite yet. But he was getting there. His eyes had lost that deadened look, and the scars were now just scars, they were done healing. They were faded, but just visible if he flexed the skin. His skin was still a bit sensitive and flaky, especially by his ribs, but it was healing. But best of all was that he didn't feel anymore pain. When he was lifting heavy things or running for a while he did, but otherwise he felt pretty normal. He sat down in a plush chair he conjured and continued staring up at the sky. It was gorgeous...the moon was almost full tonight, it had been full the night before. He wondered for a moment about how Lucas was doing. And was it his imagination, or had the moon seemed brighter than usual? He could've seen ever crater on the moon's surface. Perhaps everything was just brighter now that he was back at Hogwarts, everything was getting better. He was still writing letters to Rooster every so often, though Rooster is a terrible writer and takes a few days at least to reply. He leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes, shaking himself awake once of twice, but feeling too lazy to actually go down the tower and sleep, it was so beautiful here.

Ayamae wandered up to the astronomy tower with a bottle of wine. She had been hoping to share it with Donny, but upon a search of the castle, she'd been unable to find him. As she came to the top of the stairs, a figure came into view, sitting in a chair. Excitement filled her as she realized who it was.
She waved her wand and a second chair appeared next to his. She sat down in it and looked over at him to greet him. She closed her mouth tightly. He was dozing. He looked so peaceful...and so much more healthy. He wasn't quite where he should be yet, she knew, but he was certainly making progress.
Despite her not wanting to wake him, she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek.

When Ayamae kissed him on the cheek he jerked awake, "Wha? Who...Ayamae!" He beamed brighter than the moon, his eyes dancing in the starlight. "It's great to see you, how are you!?" All fatigue was gone, his eyes were wide open, staring at hers. She was gorgeous, he had known it well by now, but he still couldn't help but notice it each time he saw her. He gave a small smile at the wine and chuckled a bit. He knew her pretty well by now to know that she tended to drink a bit more than any other women he knew. His mind was brought back to the trailer park and Roxxie gulping down wine and smiled a bit, Ayamae would give Roxxie a run for her money. He'd heard in Rooster's last letter that both of them were already cast as small roles in movies, and they were working together. He loved the news, but he felt even more in debt to Ayamae now.
He kissed her on the cheek too, he wanted nothing more than to sit with her all his life and just stare up at the night sky, her in his arms. He knew t wasn't realistic...but how amazing would that be?....

Ayamae looked down at her lap guiltily, yet with a bashful smile on her face.
"I'm great. I didn't mean to wake you up."
She blushed like crazy when he smiled and kissed her. He looked so much better than he had when he first got to the castle. She could scarecely believe he was the same person.
She wiggled the bottle in front of his face playfully.
"Care to have a drink?"

Donny shook his head, "No. It was worth waking up. And of course I do!" He laughed, "You know me, don't you?" smiled, and took the bottle she was waving in front of his face. He conjured up two wine glasses perfectly, his magic was fine now, no flaws. He poured the wine in the two glasses, handed one to her and couldn't help but smile. He wanted to make a toast to something...but he really didn't know what to. They were on the top of a castle, under a star-filled sky, an almost-full moon, alone...it was a perfect moment. And yet...damnit! He had no idea what to say! He was pretty talkative, but around Ayamae he found himself a bit lost for things to say, since he felt no words could describe how he felt around her, or could be important enough to say how much he cared for her, loved her. "A toast." He said, thinking wildly, "to our relationship, that'll last through anything." It had indeed gone through much already...a knife being stuck in his chest, a beer bottle smashed on his face, then him splinching himself as he got to her house where she helped him out and gave him food because he admitted having lied and really only living in a trailer park...Emily getting in the way, though he couldn't hold a grudge against her now, her thinking he was a stalker in Diagon alley, then a tornado...that car crash that he would remember the rest of his life, the cops beating him up, a tree falling on him, two ribs being broken and his lung punctured, his head split open, and Ayamae helping him again...her visiting his own trailer park and thinking he was dead, then believing a fake tale about him only to find him all wounded...he doubted it was normal for a couple to go through that much in just one summer, but he felt like it had made them stronger. He wanted to stay with her through no matter what, knowing she'd be there, and he wanted to repay her as well, to be there for her now, if she ever needed him like he'd needed her.

Ayamae chuckled at the toast. It really was perfect. They'd been through an insane amount of things that no new couple should ever have to go through, but they'd survived, and grown stronger through it. A thought occurred to her, and she giggled a little.
"I wonder if it'd survive marriage....?" she winked at Donny playfully as she took a sip of her wine. She wasn't completely serious, though there was a little hint of it in the question. She wouldn't mind being married to him, that was sure. He was handsome, funny, caring, and employed. Employed was always good.
