The Master quirked on of his brows. "Trust me, it's unnecessary." Lifting his chin to the sky, he turned on his paw and started loping back towards the island with Terrance hard on his heels. The two didn't flinch nor did they falter off course when an explosion took out half of the deck on their left, even if it did cause Quintessa to jump.
A small, tiny blue light bounced up into the air above them. It zipped to the right, then swerved around and finally thumped down on the ground infront of Gabriel, revealing a tiny key.
Quintessa hadn't seen a thing. She'd had her eyes closed, and now, yawning into her hand, realized exactly how tired and hungry she really was. She couldn't let her guard down! She couldn't drift off, even if sleep would be nice...with a nice warm cup of milk and something alcoholic... "Well, that was a success." She smiled.

Watching the two cattaurs mosey off, the shock of the explosion made Gabriel duck and turn. Eh, things probably exploded all the time on this island. Looking toward the source of the explosion, his eyes immediately caught sight of the blue flying light.
Though suspicious of the glowing key that seemed aimed specifically for him, he impulsively picked it up. Tessa told that satyr it was a small key she needed for the manacles, right? Maybe this one would work in its place?
Continuing to be impulsive, he held the key tightly in his free hand and kept silent. Not that he really had anyplace else on him to hide it at the moment. Maybe he'd tell her when they reached the main land. One of the main reasons he wasn't dead yet was because these manacles were on. He could handle being chained to her a little longer....
"Success? Uh, yeah, seems so." He gave her a half smile, still intimidated by their surroundings and the encounter. "We should get back and find that idiot- ..and something to eat." He flicked his ears, glancing hopefully at the cattaur. The more time that passed, the hungier he got, and he really didn't want to eat here...

Quintessa's smile dimmed. She was still getting used to the fact that Gabriel wasn't used to the island, and hopefully, never would be. If he died, it would be a blessing compared to being kept as a slave to the Master. "Agreed. I could go for a drink. A couple, actually." She brushed past him as far as the manacles would allow, and started to amble back down into the boat.
The assassin stood in the midst of the tiny boat, one arm extended out to him, whether out of circumstance because of the manacle or rare politeness, it wasn't clear. "Just because we're going back, don't think for a second that you can escape and go home to mommy," she growled. "I'll be keeping an eye on your a**. Take it how you want."

With his mind slowly working back up to normal speed, he tucked the key up into his mouth between his cheek and teeth for safe keeping. He could talk with a key in his mouth better than he could use his hand while holding the key. He practiced a wide smile while her back was turned. Yeah, the key was small enough to stay hidden. Now he just had to remember to not accidently swallow it.
With one paw resting lightly on the rim of the boat, he stared at the female's hand while she talked, thinking back to when he had offered then yanked back. They were manacled together though; surely that was the only reason her hand would be out like that toward him?
Flicking his ears, feeling the pressure of the island on his back, he grabbed her hand anyway and pulled himself in. "For one thing, I haven't had a 'mommy' in years. And for another-" He smirked and placed a light kiss to the back of her hand before letting it go and winking. "I'll take full advantage of that offer and take your warning a great compliment." His face fell into a forced smirk as he sat down, eyes looking off to the open ocean. "After that charming visit, it'll take more than a little growling from you to scare me now."

Quintessa pulled her hand back like it was on fire, shaking it out with enough force to send it flying. Despite all of that, her cheeks were flushed. No one had dared do that to her. Ever. And...it was kind of sweet. Not that she liked sweet, mind you, oh no. No no no no no.
"I'll have to remember that," she murmured, tossing a kick to the dock to cast them off. Instead of letting the sail do all the work, Quintessa picked up an oar and started to stroke.

The shaking chain made Gabriel look up in alarm, though a small smirk replaced it and he looked out to their path again. Quintessa was in intriguing creature. Intriguing indeed.
Though his ears flicked at the sound of the oar stroking the water, his mind was already wandering on to other things. What was the key and should he even trust it? When should he try the key on the manacles? Should he even let the cattaur know about thekey? Where would that idiot who got him into this mess be? How could he search without running into any family? What would Tessa be like with a drink to loosen her skin?
His ears flicked again as his mind returned to the present. "How long a trip back to land? The same, more or less?" As the island fell behind, he could feel a weight lifting from his shoulders. Relief rinsed through, cleansing his spirit like a fresh rain, and his optimism began showing it's old shining face again.

Quintessa stroked the oar into the water, digging the claws of her forepaw into the boat to steady herself. "More or less." Her tipped ears flicked upwards, little tufts of fur streaming in the breeze. Even she had to admit that it was freeing being away from the island.
"I could go for a drink," she said bluntly, tossing her hair into the wind. "The biggest, stiffest drink this side of the ocean!" Quintessa pumped her fist into the air with a triumphant shout. She was soooo ready for some down time, at least a night, anyway. With a warm bed, gobs of food, and maybe a little play time on the side.

Without looking back at the cattaur, Gabriel let out a loud laugh. "You and me both. Something to heat me up going all the way down." He made a small groan of longing, leaning against the edge of the boat. Something stronger than ale, certainly. Spying the shelf he had broken earlier, he suddenly couldn't decide which would be more satisfying; the good, stiff drink, or pounding that coward's face into the ground... Both would suit him fine.
With the island at their back, he felt himself grow very tired suddenly. It had definitely been a long day, with far more excitement than he was used to. His eyelids were heavy, and his head bobbed, but he gave a shake and raised his head. Sleeping in this little boat... He didn't think Quintessa would try to kill him now, not yet anyway, but he wasn't used to boats. He'd rather wait for a nice, soft mattress, with a nice, soft body next to him... Well, that would be awkward with Tessa still chai...... He chuckled to himself, going back to leaning mindlessly against the boat rim. He muttered out loud to himself lazily. "With a large drink and a little sleep, we'll be ready hunt down that sorry excuse for a taur."

Quintessa jumped, already in battle position when she realized that the low, angry growling she heard was coming from her stomach. She flushed, and laughed. "Somethin' to eat doesn'a sound too bad either."
She slipped the wooden oar back into the murky water, and sallied forth with a yawn. The cattaur put a little hip into it, giving her an added burst of speed, as well as keeping her from drifting off. "We should start off in the tavern, see if anyone has heard any gossip that might be useful."

Gabriel automatically jumped into a crouch when he felt Quintessa jump behind him. ....It was hard to hold back the laugh, but he managed. Pressing his lips together, he quickly sat back down. He should have been the one on edge, not her. Though, not realizing it was your own belly that was growling...
"Tavern sounds good. Hit three birds with one stone." Food, drink, information. He wasn't sure how well they'd do at getting others to open up to them when they were handcuffed together... The tip of his tongue played with the key tucked against his cheek. Maybe he should bring it out sooner rather than later...?

"Mmm." Quintessa licked her lips with a sensual moan. "I can already taste it now. A big piece of juicy, warm meat in my mouth." The cattaur shivered, sighing with the cold breeze that blew over her fur.
The longer she stroked, the more she teased Gabriel. Not like she could help it; everything came off so easily! Every couple of minutes or so she was coming off with some sexual innuendo, or a jab at something else. All in the hopes of getting him so riled up he wouldn't want to sleep when they got to shore and out of her measily funds, she would get the one bed they could afford.
"Oh, look! Land!" The assasin leapt up into the boat, wrapping one arm around Gabriel's shoulder with her breasts pressed into his back. She pointed to the lights with her extended hand. "But I'm so tired, I don't think I can get us there..." She pouted. "Maybe we'll just have to sit out here all night...together...all alone..."

Ears obviously perking, it took what he could to not turn and stare at the source of that lush moan. Did she have to do that?! It didn't seem long until the shore reappeared along with another enticement. Groaning, he put a hand to his face and rubbed his eyes as she leaned against him with her most tantalizing feature. "I see it." He grumbled sourly, wanting to see the mountains of her chest rather than those of the land before them.
Ears flipping back, he turned his head to look over. Well... she had paddled both there and back.. Shaking his head, he simply grabbed the oar from her and started rowing. "What do you take me for?" He asked in a mock offended tone, the idea of sleeping snuggly with Tessa far too desirable, forced to cover with a tease. "If you want to be alone with me for the night, I expect to be someplace comfortable." And someplace that couldn't tip over and drown him without warning. That would be a comfort as well.

Quintessa's fingers skimmed along the skin of his broad shoulders before she pulled away with a little purr. Flirting with decent folk was one of the few joys in her life, and Gabriel was no exception. Still, she had to ponder her situation. Would she be able to forget him, regardless of the outcome? And had she grown too attached? He hadn't even been proven innocent yet, and she was playing with him!
Quintessa laughed outloud, and shoved his side playfully. "Just row. I'd like to get there sometime before morning, if at all possible." Tucking her leonine paws underneath her spotted body, Tessa started to clean off the tip of her spear the best she could with her bare hands.

Pressing his lips together as his shoulder was stroked, feeling the warmth leave his back, he sighed slowly through his nose. Those very hands seemed as willing to caress his neck as they would be to strangle him. Feeling the shove, he automatically looked over his shoulder and grinned playfully. "By morning. Got it." He couldn't help the playful banter, caught between being nervous and being attracted. A terribly enticing and thrilling combination.
Refreshed by the sight of land, he made quick work of the rowing. Instead of heading for the docks though, he aimed for the woods just outside of town. At this point the docks were bustling, and their hands cuffed together would be harder to hide. A few small boats like theirs lined the shore, so they wouldn't be drawing any particular attention. "Tavern time!" He announced, leaping from the boat and pulling it onto dry land.

Quintessa could only grin and salute him. She was walking a tight rope, and she knew it. The more time she spent around Gabriel, the less she was thinking of him as a target and more of another conquest entirely. No male should ever be as tempting as this fox.
The cattaur quickly helped her companion pull the boat ashore, and anchor it, ever so carefully hiding a wad of gold under one of the benches. After all, when you borrowed something, you paid interest, right? "Lead the way, Captain. I'm sure you know this land better than I."
