Guiding the Souls Girl's Name: Ilana, of Greek origin meaning "Torch; bright light" Girl's Personality: Ilana was drawn to the peace and protection offered by the pride and to the fact that they honor each and every deity out there. Her mother hadn't been one to really pay much mind to the Gods, but Ilana had always believed they should be given the respect due to them, no matter how small or specific a domain. The role of guide drew her interest in that she would be able to assist those who sought to pay homage to the Gods get to where they needed to go. She draws great joy from helping others.
That being said, there are a few deities that the lioness honors personally. Her main two are the God of Reflection and the Goddess of the Lost. She believes that sometimes the greatest truths can be discovered by looking inward and that no one should be left unguided in their lives, be it physically when they are in unfamiliar places, or emotionally through troubled or trying times. She also pays homage to the Goddess of Love, for what greater thing is there to enjoy than love? (Plus, she's secretly a total hopeless romantic.)
Ilana takes her task very seriously and has made sure to memorize every possible route there is to take to and fro throughout the territory. When escorting visitors to their destination, she doesn't put on any big show of importance, but she does lay down some simple, easy to follow rules. 'No defacing the Shrines. Do not blaspheme against the Gods. If lost, seek out either herself or one of her counterparts who will be more than happy to help steer you where you need to go. And finally, to enjoy and make the most of their visit.'
She has progressive hearing loss and has known about it since her adolescent days. (She's not getting on in years. In fact, she's in her prime. It's just something that came up as a result from a seemingly minor sickness that she had for a short time when she was a juvenile.) Ilana, at present, can still hear fairly well, but softer voices can go unnoticed if she isn't looking directly at the speaker. She's been learning how to read lips in preparation for when her hearing goes completely and is quite skilled at it now. It should be noted that she has picked up a habit of staring intently at those who speak to her. While she still can hear them, she watches their features, mostly their mouths, when they’re talking so that she can read them loud and clear when her world goes silent. For those that don’t know about her looming deafness, her intense staring might be mistaken for a scowl or a leer, for which she would profusely apologize for if someone pointed it out. Ilana hates making folks feel unduly uncomfortable or feel like they’ve slighted her somehow when she’s in fact memorizing the movements of words.
Knowing of the silence that is to come, she has a love of listening to almost everything. The rain, laughing, singing, the voices of children, and other assorted happy noises are among her favorites.

Hunting for All Blue WD's Name: Azul'lua (Blue Moon in Glacian) Blue WD's Owner: Fea Line Tidbit: Azul'lua is a rather immature young dog as he's constantly cracking perverse jokes. Though he's probably the fastest runner and the stealthiest of the three, it takes a lot to put him in line and make him concentrate. That's where Kaz comes in. Azul'lua respects the man, but wishes he'd just lighten up a little. What's he so grouchy about, anyway? When it comes to Liba, Azul'lua finds himself unable to restrain his manly instincts, and tosses several playful, yet ineffective, pick-up lines at her every day. She's a beautiful girl, and at times suspects that she and Kaz have a thing, which makes him rage and sparks his competitive drive.
Female WD's Name: Liba'Shulami (Peaceful Heart in Hebrew) Female WD's Owner: oo DeD Tidbit: Liba is intelligent and kind. She loves to learn, and is exceptionally skilled when it comes to reading the weather patterns, and tracking the behavior of prey. Liba views Azul'lua like a little brother who refuses to grow up and stop being a kid. She never takes his pick-up lines seriously, brushing him off with a scoff or the roll of her eyes. Kaz, however, is brave and strong, protective and gentle when he needs to be. Kaz is everything she desires in a mate, and often finds herself desperately trying to get him to notice her.
Black WD's Name: Kaskazini'askari (North Soldier in Swahili) Kaz for short. Black WD's Owner: Quiftan Tidbit: Kaz is rough and tough, barking orders and enforcing discipline like some sort of drill Sargent. He's definitely the most powerful and the oldest of the three, and naturally takes the leading roll because of his age and his assertive attitude. But Kaz has a dirty little secret. Ever since that blue dog, Azul'lua, became his pack member, he couldn't help but feel feelings that turn him from his loud commanding self into a befuddled puppy. He's never had feelings for another male in his past, and is only beginning to realize what these feelings mean.... and he doesn't like it at all.
Backstory for the group:
Before the meeting, before the series of disasters that would twine their lives together, that would make a knit pack of three strangers, they were just that; strangers with lost and broken lives each seeking a purpose. --- Azul’lua was born to a normal family of wild dogs just like any other. He had a mother who loved him, a father who cared for him, and a sister who looked just like him, only reverse in color. Life was well and they grew up happily… Until his father found out about his mother’s dirty little secret. She was cheating on him. Zoren was known to have a temper, but when he found out about his mate’s secret life he went on a full out rampage. Not even certain their children were his due to obvious traits and features that was never in his blood line; he sought revenge not only on his once mate, but these young dogs that were no longer his as well. Petrified for her life as well as her pups, Ahliaka’lai ushered her playing children out of their cave and deep into the forest. Telling them to stay put, she ran back to distract her mate from finding them. Azul’lua, always being the timid one, had stayed put but his younger sister had run after her mother in sheer panic. That was the last he would ever see of his family again. Two days he waited for their return, and on the third day, weak and exhausted, he traveled back to his home, only to find the slaughtered bodies of his mother, sister, and fellow pack mates lying in pools of their own blood. His father was no where to be seen, but his stench hung heavily on the air. Frightened and left without a clue as to what had happened, for his mother had not explained, he followed the scent of his father until he found the broken heap of fur that used to be his dad, tossed against a tree like he was nothing but a small mammal. Utterly alone and without a single soul to keep him company, Azul’lua wandered in fear while he aged. Once in his prime, on a fateful day, the wild dog stumbled into a cave to shelter from an incoming rain, and wound up in a moment of time that would change his life forever. --- Liba'Shulami—Liba, or Lib, as she was affectionately called by her mate and his family—was a creature with a heart as full as the one she wore on her chest and only outgrown by her mind. She had lived the average life; grown with a group that consisted of a tight knit few with whom she grew, hunted, slept peacefully, and eventually fell in love. Her mate was a soft-spoken male with strict and loving parents who were also the leaders of their small pack. They were accepting—if not somewhat hesitant—in their son's choice of a mate, but took Liba in nonetheless. Liba and her mate lived happily for a long time, a happiness that only grew during a joyous realization; Liba was with young. She was pregnant with not only the children of her dearest love, but with the children that would become the leaders of the now growing pack. The future of the group rested upon her shoulders. She was, though, undeterred by the pressure in the group around her… Until a foul feeling began to resonate from her being. Liba's father passed away, killed during a hunt. The remorse in the pack soon turned towards expectancy towards the future; all eyes turned to Liba, carrying the only hope for the continuation of the pack. It was a clear night with a bright moon when Liba was to give birth. The entire pack watched from the entrance of the den in which she lay, their long shadows falling upon the female. When born, her children were cold. Their bodies were still, their voices silent. Their hearts were as motionless as the markings on their backs. "Witch." The pack members murmured, their voices echoed, slowly growing louder and louder. As Liba wept, they moved in towards her. A curse, they would say. It was a curse placed upon the pack, in the form of this deathful witch. As they scratched at her, lunged at her in hate, Liba lept and attempted to flee. Her mate, even, swiped a furious paw across her face. The wild dog freed herself from the group and ran, blinded by tears. Above her, the clouds began to crowd the sky above, and raindrops followed her steps as the lone, weak figure ducked into a cave to escape the storm, and to fall into yet another event in the series that could only be called her fate. --- Kaz was the only remaining dog in his pack fit enough to hunt. It was his responsibility to go out everyday and come back with enough food to feed his entire family. The others were too old or too young to assist him. Occasionally Kaz came back with empty paws, and the disappointment his family expressed took a direct hit to his heart. One fateful year Kaz had found himself coming back every single day... With empty paws. The famine was apparent as the grass had withered away, the local water source dried up, and the prey... Vanished. Kaz was witnessing his friends and family die of starvation. He urged them that they needed to move on and find a new place to live just as the prey has. But even if they weren't weak with hunger, they were in no physical condition to travel. It became apparent the pack wasn't going to last much longer, yet Kaz was still determined to feed them. He traveled outside of the pack boarders in search of food. He went on and on, and before he knew it, an entire month had passed. He hadn't found anything but insects and starving hares. With a heavy heart, Kaz knew he couldn't return to his pride. He didn't want to see their corpses scattered across his home, picked to the bone from vultures. It's all my fault...
But in the distance, Kaz spotted a black storm. Water was a good sign. Water meant plants and plants meant prey. The rain came down relentlessly. Kaz had never before experienced such a harsh downpour, his body moving instinctively towards a mountainside where he spotted a dark cave he could take shelter. --- The water had washed the dogs' scents away, and the rain was deafening. Perhaps it was these factors, or perhaps it was simply because the minds of the dogs were purely… in a different place, but the three didn't realize the flood had force them all to take refuge in the same den. It took a long silence for the dogs to notice the presence of the other two, but when they did the air was tense. They were hesitant to speak to each other, all still stuck in their heads and wary from their previous experiences, but still reluctant to go back outside to the rain. After time, though, as the distance between the three grew smaller and smaller, they began to open up. One by one, they shared their stories, the ears of the others silent and their hearts aching at each of the tales.
"We're all cursed." The youngest dog whimpered after the eldest had finished his story. Azu'lua's blue muzzle dripped with moisture, Whether the drops were tears or rain, it was hard to tell. Kaz and Liba only glanced at each other, then at the third in response. There was nothing more that could be said.
It was that night the dogs decided to travel together to seek forgiveness from the gods. They wished a fulfilling life, full of happiness and beauty. No more gore, blood, or death of their loved ones. As they hunted together, they discovered how well their various skills and strengths combine with one another. They never went hungry, and certainly had enough left over to leave for the scavengers. When they stumbled upon the Shrine Keepers, it came so clear to them that this is where they were supposed to be. They would combine their talents and feed the shrine keepers, hoping to obtain the answers and forgiveness they've been seeking for so long.

Keeper of Somewhere Girl's Name: Tilifika ("be lost") Girl's Assignment Location: Jungle Why does she want to be there?: As an adolescent, Tilifika's family resided in the jungle and she had a large handful of siblings and other close family. All of the young ones used to play in the jungle a lot and somehow get into mischief whether they wanted to or not. The jungle is a dangerous place for young cubs and her parents always kept a watchful eye. One day, Tilifika and her siblings were playing tag in the jungle and somehow Tilifika got separated from the rest of her siblings. She had no sense of direction and as any young cub would, she panicked and began wandering around aimlessly not knowing where she was going. She ended up wandering around for hours and she sat down underneath a large tree feeling that all hope was lost. All of a sudden, Tilifika saw something in the distance approaching her and it so happened to be the god of Jungles right before her eyes. (Not sure if she actually saw him or was just delusional at this point.) Speaking to her, the god told her how to find her way back to her family and until this day, Tilifika never forgot about him and how he saved her life. When she heard that she could be the keeper to his shrine, she gladly took the position knowing that if it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t be around right now.

Guiding the Souls Boy's Name: May'abang ("Proud" or "Arrogant" in Tagalog) Boy's Personality: May'abang has always been extremely devoted to the gods. His parents raised him to honor the gods in everything he did, and he tries to still. May'abang is a model worshiper. He's also fully aware of how pious he is, and he's not going to play it down. He has a holier then thou attitude, and it sometimes gets in the way of his duties - especially when he's guiding someone that he doesn't feel worthy to worship the gods. Sometimes he even tries to re-educate "unworthies" when asked to guide them to the shrine, and tries to teach them the "proper" way to worship. May'abang defines unworthies as anyone who he doesn't think pious enough, leeches, annoying folks, ugly folks, hyenas that don't wash, anyone with blood in their teeth or claws, and males that he thinks might be prettier then him. Quiet, pretty females are almost never unworthy.
Yeah, he's not really a nice lion. Very pious, though.
