Well marks on the neck with no blood implies either strangulation or exsanguination, most likely involving a vampire. Strangulation is definitely the more likely cause, though. Unless, of course, the marks are related to the murder but not the actual cause of death, which also opens the possibilities of blunt force trauma, poison, suffocation, and drowning. Though drowning is unlikely given that she was probably killed in her office, but it is theoretically possible.

Long story short: cause of death would be helpful in narrowing down possible weapons and murderers.

Also, I'm totally innocent, I'm too nice to kill people, right? Right?

Anything could have happenned, a combination of several methods to harm, torture and/or kill her. If she was killed in her office, and there >was< no blood, strangulation is most likely and the probable cause of death. It would be helpful if we knew what the marks were/looked like-bruises, fang marks, etc.

"Also, I'm totally innocent, I'm too nice to kill people, right? Right?"
Right. biggrin
As I said, the possibility of said marks being related but to the crime as a whole, not necessarily to the cause of death.

And we haven't ruled out supernatural and extraterrestrial causes yet. I, for one, would like to point out that Mulder was often right.

Do we actually know anything apart from the fact that LMF is pushing up the daisies?

Sorry, you're not getting the exact cause of death. In order to solve the murder, you must list the killer, his/her/its motive, and have at least 5 correct methods he/she/it used to kill his/hers/its victims . Some methods will be more obvious than others, and some will be more mysterious.

But yeah, the marks could me pretty much anything, there wasn't even a description of what KIND of marks. Were they scratches (you can have scratches without blood)? were they bruises? were they a blister of some sort? tentacle raep hickey? burns?

Tabi...we should totally dress our avis and Mulder and Scully for Halloween ninja

Oh, great... so there are going to be more bodies?

At least our Necromancers will earn their keep.

Is the body still around? I think I read somewhere that if you press a cross to or pour holy water over a vampire-bitten body, there's a reaction.

Yeah, I know. But my logic centers keep going "butbut... The cause of death is almost always known, if not necessarily how it was caused." Like there's medical evidence of suffocation, but you're not sure how they suffocated. Though I guess from an event standpoint...

Also, after reading Mav's clue, I'm more confused. The change of pronoun in the middle got me wondering if every "it" was even the same thing, or if the pronouns are being used to intentionally obfuscate things.

Apparently the guild lacks a good medical doctor and we can't get an autopsy stare

@Ane: Lol, what do you think I plan on doing after my 0800 class tomorrow? Definitely changing to a Scullyriffic avatar. 8D I'd do it now if I were on a computer instead of my phone.

I love mysteries!!!! if only it wasn't fortune!!!!! *puts on thinking cap* maybe the "it" is an object used to hit her and not someone. Think about it.

Well, it's only natural that someone wouldn't be able to know how many bodies were involved in a murder case. It's not like this is some pre-planned event in some twisted online game, miss.

Wait...how do you know about my donuts? scream

"Tune in next time and find out what flavour donuts are kept within the dark confines of the briefcase of Chattercop!"

I bet it will be a big hit.
