Charon nodded. "Good. Now, see the shore on our left? Keep your eyes ahead. In a little while you're going to see another river. That'll be the Phlegethon. That's where we're heading next."Charon kept himself busy by steering his boat and figuring out how to possibly avoid what was waiting for them at Phelgethon...

"Forgive me if I'm wrong," she started, looking towards the area he had pointed out. "But you don't seem to like the idea of us going to the Phlegethon. Is there something you aren't telling me?"

"Oh, there's nothing there that'll hurt you," Charon assured her hurriedly. "It's just... not my favorite river, that's all."Charon wasn't sure how to tell her about Tiresias. The guy didn't hurt you, but he was a bit... off."Do you see it yet?"

Myrtle, who had looked back at him as he spoke, turned her attention back towards the river. "There!" She pointed, excited for some reason. "Why are you worried then?" Hm. . . so he does have emotion. She chuckled to herself.

"I'm not worried," Charon said truthfully as he steered the boat into the mouth of the river. He had to use his pole to maneuver around a few rocks, but other than that it was a smooth entrance into the river. Now all he had to worry about was punting against the current."Like I said," he continued. "This just isn't my favorite river."He looked upstream, then back at Myrtle. "I know of one good point on this river where we can fish safely and easily. Start looking for a little hut. It'll be up straight ahead."

Myrtle nodded, admittedly a bit disappointed as she looked forward for the hut. "For a second there I thought you were showing a bit of emotion." She told him, keeping her eyes scanning the horizon.

Charon looked at her in amazement. "Begging your pardon. I have emotion, you realize. I just don't express the same emotions as you do in the same situations. And I usually feel indifference. That's not the same thing as having no emotion."Shaking his head, he continued punting.

Myrtle held her hands up in defeat. "Just saying, you could have fooled me and probably any other soul that's encountered you." She glanced over at him, giving him an apologetic look. "Indifference is probably worse than having no emotion."
