This was all so pointless. She was now staring at her foot in contemplation- staring at her hands, she often imagined there was somehow blood there, staining her hands from the times she had slaughtered people in the name of good or justice or whatever excuse she had made.

Plus she was still bloody confused from the whole notion of some people-bird-animals walking around and talking and acting more normal than she usually did. Which wasn't saying much, but still.

Alyosha walked over to Sy slowly, not wishing to 'pounce' upon her.

"Hey.." he said quietly, dipping his head a little so that his long purple-black hair fell over his face and eyes. He stood there quietly, still, unsure what to do or say. It had seemed like he had to see her or talk to her only moments ago and now.. he didn't have a clue why.

She waited for him to say something more, and on the startling revelation he wasn't going to say more (leaving a long pause of silence) she wondered if somehow she had become more intimidating than usual. I mean, he knew she was a hanyou, but he was as well.

"I'm surprised... last time you seemed like you had a lot of questions." She paused a moment and tilted her head to the side, thinking for a second. "Or are you quiet because this was unexpected? I could go, if you like."

Errand accomplished, Rahujo left Alyosha's apartments. Seeing Alyosha engaged in what looked like a fairly intense discussion in the centre of the main room, she quietly skirted around the edges, leaving the two alone, and headed out of the centre. It was still late afternoon outside as she strode towards her forge: plenty of light left in the day for work.

Alyosha shook his head. "Don't go on my account... I guess it's been so long since I even thought of these sorts of things.."

He tilted his head the other way, his mass of hair making this almost comical. "How.. if you don't mind me asking... how... you" he didn't want to blurt it all out.. Not here, in the middle of the centre. "Why.. don't you come to my apartments for tea or.. you don't drink that? er.. a beverage of your choice, they're just along the corridor... that's if DFly doesn't mind me stealing you away...?"

She stared at the man for a moment. Having an incubus in your head made your mind twist everything into a perverted fashion... this shy man probably wasn't used to talking to another half-breed. She at least had her sisters, strange and strained as their relationships were.

"I really came to see you, actually. Tea? Not my sort, a little too pale for these times... but no worries, I always bring myself something to drink if I get lost traveling." She bowed and excused herself to the other woman, who had known she was coming here for Aly. Actually, she grinned at it, so it made her wonder if DFly found this... comical in some way, or amusing.

Alyosha led the way, wondering if he had given her the right impression, asking her to his apartments. He certainly hadn't meant it in any sort of sleazy manner, he had left that past behind. Sometimes he missed the old days but his dedication to his new work had kept his mind from it.

He opened the door, glad he had tidied away all of his papers and reflected on the fact that he hadn't stretched his legs all that much. Oh well. He motioned for Sy to come in. "Excuse me a moment... I think I need some tea." He walked into the kitchen, allowing Syrenrei to make herself.. well he couldn't quite imagine her being comfortable but.. at least less uncomfortable. Boiling himself up some te, he remembered that she had mentioned bringing a drink with her. He grabbed up a glass and walked back through to the living room.

Despite his impression, she was sprawled on an arm-chair, portaying perhaps her more feline manner. She sat on it crooked, her back in the corner, and both legs over the chair's arm, one bent inwards. In consideration of his furniture, she had taken off her boots that made her look a lot bigger than she was- in reality, she had small legs and feet.

"I'm jealous. You seem quite acclimated to a human lifestyle... you must not be too eccentric of a half-breed. I spend at least two to six days a month locked in my home to protect myself and others... from the people I have seen here, they very easily gauge you as a human, so you must not be pestered by too many hanyou issues."

She pulled a few lemons out of a pouch and waited for him to hand her a glass before she squeezed them into a glass, intending to drink the lemon juice straight.

((XD btw, Aly doesn't have any chairs in his living room, only rugs and beanbag-type-things))

Alyosha handed her the glass, settling himself on a rug to one side of the small table in the centre of the room. He placed his tea down, running his fingers around the rim.

"Acclimatised..." he thought this over, wondering how best to explain. "Perhaps.. I have been in the company of humans for quite some time now. I haven't been with many others of my own kind, except the passing few for most of my life. I left my .. family..." he struggled to say the word, it catching in his throat " when I was still young... I've had to learn to be close to humans, enough like them that they do not suspect.." he paused a moment.

"It's amazing what humans will disregard if you make even the slightest pretense... they will usually ignore even things such as my golden eyes and pale skin.. extraordinary.. really.. I used to have a lot of contempt for them but now.. I think i've come to understand them somewhat."

He looked over at the very feline Sy, his eyes meeting hers somewhat more strongly than before. He didn't have anything to hide around her and his confidence had returned a little ways. "You.. haven't had much contact with humans?"

"Oh... well, at least once a month I become completely feral, a youkai, and I am afraid that has kept me from having too much human contact. Gaia has been my only permanant home since the death of my parents." She struggled not to let her face darken at this fact, and concentrated on squeezing the life out of the lemons and stuffing their empty husks with the seeds in her pouch.

"And we both know Gaia has all sorts of people. My sons have helped me to try to keep myself in line... although I've had the unfortunate luck to have twice escaped myself. You're not a cat demon half-breed, are you?"

She plucked a little piece of pulp out of her glass and then took a swig of the strong lemon nectar. It made her tongue and cheeks pucker all on their own and kept her mind and body vividly awake.

No choice in turning feral? he could see the difficulty this would pose to her. He could see the darkness in her eyes when she spoke of her parents and could, to an extent, sympathise. His parents were not dead but they might as well be for he was unlikely to ever see them again.

Gaia was indeed diverse, his reason for settling here. It had seemed to him that the people here asked no questions and were a little more accepting than your general human population. As a result Gaia was very diverse, species wise.

"No.. I'm not a cat by any means. I'm half kitsune, a fox demon half-breed." he used her term, not sure wether he liked it or not. His childhood memories seemed to reel from it but his older self almost revelled at the crassness of it. "kitsune are experienced 'shifters. I have no trouble in controlling my form and even changing back and forth between them, not that I like to much, it can be ... disturbing"

He watched with amusement as she drank her lemonjuice, picking up his own tea and gulping down a mouthful of the hot liquid. It felt good, cleansing.

"That must be nice... I think it's just the orientation of the animal, really. When I become youkai, I am essentially like a cat in heat... thus why I must be locked away. I become more aggressive than is desired. Being human for a day... is... quite pleasant." She paused to lick her lips a moment, trying to get some of the bitterness off her tongue so she could speak more easily.

"Disturbing? Why is shifting disturbing? Is it painful? Do you lose some control like me?" She was admittedly intrugued and shifted around in the beanbag chair so that she was sitting with her legs in a yoga-like position that made a split look painless.

"Not incredibly painful, no.. I do lose... some not control but perhaps part of my reasoning. What is normal for a human is, afterall, not normal for a youkai. " He took another gulp of his tea, enjoying it's warmth.

He sat still, quiet for a moment. "Why once a month? does it come on at the same time, or just randomly?" he asked.

"Best I can understand is that it has something to do with orientation of the moon and stars... it is usually during a quarter moon... although recently I think this has been affected..." She shrugs after a moment's thought. It wasn't unthinkable that dying could somehow alter someone besides just mentally.

"Don't you sometimes yearn to just be an animal, though? To lose all reasoning... and to live simply...? Imagine that all you worried about was where your next meal was, where'd you sleep... all you'd worry about was surviving, living, not whether something was right or wrong." She sighed a little bit and took a sip of her lemon juice, staring into space... although she was staring in his direction, so it might appear she was more or less staring at him. She shook it off after a moment.

"My mother was the youkai. She was beautiful... simple. All she worried about was living, surviving, protecting us. Father was more troubled, but we lived away from everyone, so even he relaxed. He was the one with the mental powers, psionics they're called. He was a stranger among other humans, I suppose. Gaia would have suited him." Despite her earlier slip into a darker tone, she now spoke lightly of her parents.

"Oh dear, I'm rambling."

"Not at all" he assured her, enjoying finding out more about this strange creature.

"I used to be.. shall we say... more carnal. But I found that it didn't satisfy me in the end. One can live daily with animalistic urges but you cannot.. thrive. Our brains are as big as humans and thus are our capacities for culture and expression, something more than just animalistic tendancies. I guess that's why I learned to do archaeology. It was a rocky road but it's given me far more that most of my life up until now has. "
he sats back after this monologue and drunk down the last of his now cooling tea with a gulp. The late evening sun was now washing over his face from one o the small windows, putting Sy in sillhouette.
