'Go socialize,' his dad had said. 'Try to make new friends,' he said. What a load of bull, as usual. Kyogen had convinced (harassed was more like it, in his opinion) his son, Tatsu to go to this 'party' some Winiko was throwing. While a trip to the wild InBetween sounded like a good idea, standing around chatting with stuffy Winiko did not. This wasn't how demons were supposed to behave! The only time he even neared the crowds was to look and see if there was any good food. He nabbed a roast beef sandwich and to his surprise, found bowls of 'Ems! Well, at least whoever was running this thing had good taste. Figuring he was entitled to them for having to endure this stupid thing, he swiped an entire bowl and retreated to the edge of the clearing by some trees, somewhat near the beach, flopping down and munching. He'd watch from back here. If his dad came by, he'd figure out some excuse as to why he wasn't 'mingling'.
Wolfing down the sandwich and starting on his 'dessert', Tatsu heard a nearby roar and blinked, slightly startled. Swiveling his head towards the sound, he saw a rather colorful koi who looked rather pissed off. Maybe he was forced to come 'socialize' as well. Either way, he looked to be a kindred spirit. Tucking his bowl of ems safely in a bush to hide them for later, Tatsu got up and headed towards Algae.

"Pretty"? That was a word Asgard had not been called before. "Large", "clumsy", and "boring", yes, but not "pretty", and the large demon found himself...he wasn't quite sure what to call it. Flustered, maybe? Whatever the odd emotion was, it was a first for him. "C-Compliment...appreciated," he stammered in a fit of embarrassment. "Sparkle ball?" He shifted to watch her as she pranced around him, keeping a close watch so he would not accidentally step on or otherwise hit her with his big feet, and as he turned, the crystals adjusted accordingly to compensate for the shift in his weight, making the reflected sunlight dance over the grass.
Perhonen blinked in surprise when the beaked little one reached for him, at first not certain what she meant until it clicked. "My antennae," he answered, and they twitched as if to emphasize what they were. "I use them to smell."

Loki continued to study his familiar for a moment. "You know..." He said thoughtfully. "I really need to pay more attention to my constant companion... I still haven't worked out what to CALL the little ghostlike fellow..." He blinked, then refocused on Umber. "I suppose we all have some talent. I just have no idea what I'm good at. What can I say, I've never found anything I am good at." He glanced at Sepia, and his own. "No sugar helps? Hmmm interesting..." He noted the way his familiar looked horrified at the idea.
Auri smiled a little. "I'm trying to work on my temper... I tend towards irritable, often..." She half frowned, a flash of green catching her attention, and she turned her head. She frowned more, studying a green male that was approaching one of the koi winiko. He looked familiar, and it triggered a feeling of 'dislike'. She studied the green male, then shook herself and turned back to 'Riki, putting a smile back on, forcing her attention off Tatsu. At his answer to her question, she smiled more, a real smile. "AH I thought you might be that one. She's mentioned you, of course." She nodded. "We're both bound to the same two-legger, as is your son Acid Dusk. I was just curious if I had guessed a'right about this." She nodded. "Dusk's a lovely boy, you must be proud of him."
Erudite listened to her request, and pulled out a napkin, then settled some of the sausage pastries on it, and placed it in front of Dream Shade. "Here we go! I've had similar to these before, they are quite delicious. I do enhoy them." He paused, and looked embarressed at her question. "I appreciate that I do not look like one... But I feel an idiot for not thinking to grab any plates. Napkins work but... Plates are neater. I should have thought of them, and like an idiot, did not." He shrugged, still feeling stupid, but accepting of his idiocy.
He then glanced at Shroom and, noting the wine bottle, looked pleased. "AH! Excellent choice, Shroom! Looks like a good year, too. I do love Italian wines, they tend to be a bit sweeter." He snagged three wine glasses, and tilted his head. "Do you wish to do the honors, Miss Shroom, or shall I?"

 ((Thanks Cap XD)) CRUNCHHHH the terrain went. Full of ire, Algae looked. And looked again with as much dignity he could muster up for a double-take. Split pea soup humans called the color. Or slime. The other winiko was very much green but it was the face that commanded interest. In the short span it took for the other winiko to close in on the distance, Algae’s coat bristled as he inwardly roared. Manifesting a roar took too much anger and energy, Wrapping it around him like a comfortable furr y blanket of seaweed, he reveled in the crimson feeling. That green giant! He was hoarding sweets and not sharing as evident by his empty claws. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, the mother ******** was gloating about it. Algae wanted to swat the intruding fool aside the head but may be if he played nice, the other demon would tell him where to get more. Aha! Plan finalized—the ********? Enemy winiko was at home base. He didn't even notice the dirty look another winiko threw the green winiko. “YOU GOT CHOCOLATE ON YOUR FACE,” he blurted out. Erk, good thing kois don’t sweat, eh?

 In her meanderings around the Winis and food tables, Linraku spotted a purple gift bag with violet and blue paper peeking out. She knew immediately that this bag was meant for her. It had to be, it matched her coloring. And just to make sure it stayed hers, she picked it up and hid it for later perusal.

 Razuku's pale eyes watched with fascination at the twitching antennae. It was like a new toy teasing to be played with. She was about to swat at them when Perhonen said, "I use them to smell."
The icing covered claw stopped in mid air. "For smelling?" Razuku slowly drew her claw back. "It has goobers?"
Rinraku thought about her mother always admonishing her to keep her nose beak clean and not get goobers in her food. She didn't think her mother would approve of her eating butterfly goobers with cupcakes either.

"Goobers?" Perhonen blinked, confused at first, but after a brief moment, he thought he knew what she meant. "No - they aren't like a nose or anything. It's hard to describe." He picked up another cookie and demonstrated by lifting it high enough for him to lightly touch the slightly rounded tips of his antennae to it, the black feelers just barely dabbing over the cookie's surface. "I touch what I want to smell, and I get a better idea of what it is. I can smell the sugar and pick out some of the other ingredients in this."

 Dream Shade noticed Erudite's discomfort and berated herself silently for an obvious blunder of words. "No, no, no, I didn't mean that.. I mean.. I.. uh..," she tried to assure him. "Napkins are fine," she finished lamely. Dream Shade didn't understand why he was fussing over plates and napkins anyway. She breathed a sigh of relief when Shroom arrived to take the attention off her.
 "Oh, thank you," said Shroom. "I think your name suits you just fine. You certainly know more about wine than I do. I'm afraid I picked it just because of the pretty bottle."
Shroom glanced down at her friend and noticed the black demon looking a little dejected. The mini demon hoped her friend would eventually be glad that she came. It was so hard getting the skull-faced demon out to socialize.
Turning her attention back to Erudite, she said, "Why don't you open it. You're stronger than I am," Shroom added, smiling at the colorful demon. "The party would be over by the time I managed to get it open."
Seeing Erudite's attention turned to Shroom, Dream Shade finally gave in to the tempting smell of the sausages. Placing a red hoof on the corner of the napkin, she grabbed a sausage and cheese pastry in her teeth and flipped it into her mouth. Luckily, the lack of musculature only affected the front of her face. Tongue and salivary glands still existed to savor the taste of the yummy meat and cheese. Not having lips though, Dream Shade was unaware of the sausage juice and melted cheese oozing through her teeth.

 After strutting about the party for a few minutes, Calypso had realized that she had a stalker. About time. Tail and fins twisting and swishing enticingly, she pretended not to notice at first, letting the handsome male get a good look at her while she let him catch up with her. She had to admit, he wasn't so bad to look at either. Not as beautiful as she, of course, but while it was more difficult to behold her own beauty, she'd take something lesser in the meantime.
Believing the red koi had come close enough, she smiled seductively over her shoulder, winking one of her deep blue eyes as she called out, "How about you join me instead of just watching from a distance, love?"

 "I didn't even know of Sepia's interests until he decided to help me out one day, on his own when I wasn't looking. I started to scold him, but realized he'd added some nice accents to the piece. I let him continue helping, after that, under my watchful eye, of course." He winked, as he glanced over at Sepia briefly, who was still perched on the CD player."Names are hard sometimes, yes. It was easy enough for me, with his color, but perhaps you should just introduce yours to new things, and see what grabs his attention. That might help."  Noticing her frown, Riki followed her gaze, and whereas she only thought the green Winiko was familiar, he recognized Tatsu immediately. He was going to comment, but then looked back at Auri as she mentioned having the same bond as Love-a-Lot, and complimenting Dusk. He blushed a little at that, and smiled. "Thanks.. I don't get to see him as much as Dawn, but I'm glad he's doing well." Tatsu's presence still making him curious, he finally did comment about it, nodding at the green demon's direction. Not knowing of any animosities between them, he piped up, "You know Tatsu? Speaking of having the same two-legger, he belongs to my bond as well. I wonder what he's doing here, though? He's not really the social type." He got a thoughtful look on his face, tilting his head. "I wonder if his dad made him come by and make new friends...Kyogen is ever trying to tame that child of his, even though he's all grown up now."

 Tatsu could see the ire enveloping that demon. Not that he cared; in his eyes this was a proper demon, not like these pansies gossiping like little old church ladies. He was too cocky to even notice the ire was focused at him, after he was spotted. He was prepared to introduce himself when the koi blurted out his ...'greeting'? Well, whatever. Tatsu blinked, momentarily taken off guard, and ran his tongue around his mouth before shrugging and replying back. "Yeah so? Been eatin' 'Ems. They may not melt in your paw but they melt in your mouth AND on your face. I got a stash back there," he pointed to where he had been,"so I can avoid all the gossiping over there." He pointed to the main throngs of demons. "Anyway, I'm Tatsu, who are you?" he asked, his normal way of addressing others. Well, sort of, typically he added a 'the hell' after the 'who' and before the 'are you'.

 And get a good look he did, so much so that he had a hard time even doing the rehearsal he wanted as to choosing his words. He was surprised when she noticed him and looked over her shoulder with that oh-so-seductive look. He about melted into a puddle right there, to run back into the red sea behind him. Trying to hide the frantic look in his emerald eyes, he attempted to steel himself as he approached, but was obviously very shy, still not managing anything to say as he caught up to her.
