I should say undecided considering the fact that I'm new to Buddhism, but it looks like I'm leaning towards the Tendai sect.

Vajrayana. Used to be an exclusive Pure Lander but got interested in esoteric Buddhism. I still pray to Amitabha though and I've vowed to be reborn in his western Pure Land.

oO2bored2careOo I'm a shin buddhist, but i'm a little confused. is that the same as zen and ch'an, or is that pure land. any helP??? Hello there smile Yes you are correct. Zen and Ch'an are the same , but they do not belong to the Pure Land school. Ch'an buddhism developed in China. and when it came to Japan it formed into the Zen sect. Shin in japanese refers to the Pure Land. I am also a shin buddhist. Please to meet you :3

My family and I practice Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism smile . I was born into it. My parents had a buddhist marriage ceremony. I had a Buddhist Priest hit me over the head with a scroll as part of my "Ablution" (some might say), but I was only 1 month old when this occurred 4laugh .

A mixture of all. I follow the teachings of Buddha and I'll know if I should come back when I'm enlightened.

I've been practicing Theravada Buddhism, however, like Zen Buddhists, I believe meditation is the way to Enlightenment. Mostly because I have had my awakening during one of my recent sessions. ^-^ So please, I'm looking for other Buddhists to talk to about our "religion" and want to teach anyone I can about the ways of peace and enlightenment.

I am practicing zen. I like the idea of enjoying present moment and seeing world perfect in a way it is.

I follow the Zen path of Buddhism, but I also like Friedrich Nietzsche's idea of casting off old values and creating new ones. I have not discarded all past values though; I've merely combined many into my belief system. Essentially, I still believe in a higher power (that's from being raised Christian. It's not necessarily "God" though), most of the teachings of Buddha (I say most because Zen doesn't focus on scriptures all that much), and instead of Naraka, I prefer Dante's version of Hell (but you're still only there until your negative karma's gone).
I like Zen because it focuses on meditation, and not necessarily lifestyle. Looking inward for enlightenment, not outward.
卍 May you achieve enlightenment. 卍

Do you subscribe to a specific Zen school or tradition? Or are you a sort of catch-all Zen?

Byaggha Do you subscribe to a specific Zen school or tradition? Or are you a sort of catch-all Zen? Catch-all sums it up nicely. Goes with my belief of creating new values by combining old ones.
