Eh, I don't care to preach against scanlations. Music pirating is just as bad, but not as easy to take down. XD
How much does it take to write, draw, and ink a manga anyway? Compared to studio time, songwriting, and instruments?

You know what I love?
I love it when people condemn things like scanlations, video game piracy, and music piracy and praise the people cracking down on it, but a lot of them are also the same people who read said scanlations, use emulators, and also download a song or two off Torrent.
Crazy, huh? Not really calling anyone out or anything, just speaking my mind here.

Weasel-chan Afterthought to both of my posts: I understand that a lot of people don't buy when it's released, and I understand why the publishers want them taken down. That's the main problem right there. Remember that OM is one of the 1,000 most-visited sites on the internet. You could add up worldwide sales for a popular series like Naruto, and it's not going to compare to that. Especially considering the industry's past actions, if the entire fandom (or even a majority of it) followed the 'buy it when it's released' mentality, the publishers wouldn't have cracked down on scanlations nearly as hard as they have. Lord of Armageddon You know what I love? Crazy, huh? Not really calling anyone out or anything, just speaking my mind here. Honestly? I've seen scanlators who disliked OM, and at least one who was glad to see the site completely gone. And I seem to recall making a comment about having a problem with sites like OM posting series that are available for purchase and making a profit off of piracy. How weird. It's like there's a spectrum to what people consider acceptable in regards to piracy that you've completely ignored or something. That said, I realized a long time ago that I never get through stuff I download. Try again.

That said, I realized a long time ago that I never get through stuff I download. Try again. I said "a lot" not "all." That should pretty much say I acknowledge that there's a spectrum. And I also said I wasn't really calling out anyone in this guild. Mostly people I've encountered on scanlation sites who go "OMG, SCANLATIONS R WRONG, PIRACY IS EBIL," and yet fail to realize they've admitted earlier to reading these said scanlations. If these people say it's so wrong, why were they even doing it in the first place or in some cases, are continuing to do it? Also, the only scanlation I'm reading right now is Pokemon Special, and I'd TOTALLY buy it if ViZ didn't censor the s**t out of it and/or the Chuang Yi translations were available in the states.

I know, I know... But then again, I don't think banning them will stop illegal translations, just like with downloading music. It might make it alittle harder to get them, but not impossible.
