I love amélie (like almost everyone else who has seen that movie biggrin )
I also love Anime (especially the studio Ghibli movies) and a lot of other japanese and chinese movies like: Azumi and the house of the flying daggers and I enjoyed Pan's labyrint very much (actually it was my first spanish movie.)

I've seen Amélie too, and I loved it. It's so funny and uplifting. whee

I just saw 'Blackbook' last night, and loved most of it.
"Das Leben Der Anderen" is fantastic but dark, and got best foreign picture.

Oo, I really wanted to see Blackbook. And it was playing at one of the theaters nearby too, but I missed it. sad Loved Das Leben Der Anderen. The last line of the film was so sweet but sad.

My other favorite foreign films are M, Kontroll, and Les quatre cents coups. Oo, and Emir Kusturica's stuff is always interesting.

I really enjoyed run lola run and goodbye lenin. Has anyone see Die Blechttrommel? If you haven't, done. It was sick and wrong and has scarred me for life.
Das Experiment was also a bit wrong but really interesting.

I haven't seen alot of foreign movies but the ones I liked (and remembered whee ) are:
"Battle Royale II" (Japanese) Which I did not see from the beginning and also did not finish. But I loved it.
"Nobody Knows" (Japanese) I don't know if that was the name, but I think it was. The movie was about 2 brothers, a sister and a niece, I believe. Their mother left them and the oldest brother (Who's only 12 years old) has to take care of them. I just cried at the end. So sad.
"Zwartboek" (Blackbook - Dutch) It's not foreign to me, because I am Dutch myself, but I loved it anyway. biggrin
"Cyrano de Bergerac" heart heart heart

I almost only watch foreign movies ^^

There was this great movie on das Erste few weeks ago, called die Wolke. Then there was this danish comedy about a fake count Axel, but I can't remember the name...

Casino Royale! A very good film! I never thought you Americans could actually make good movies (j/k).

Shaolin Soccer (not sure about the name, though) is also worth watching. It's Chinese and I saw it last saturday^^

Wow, lots of good movies mentioned and a bunch I want to see. The Official Story/La Historia Oficial is worth seeing. It's kind of old at this point (1985), so I don't know about the availability of it... It's not a happy movie, though.

At the moment, our French coursework for A2 is to write about the two French films, 'Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain' and 'Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles'. Both very good.
