 ╔══════════════╗ ♫ ℒacey ℋancock ♫ ╚══════════════╝
Lacey stared at Christoph for a while. He was being confusing. First, he warned her not to get involved with Wells because he is a ladies man. Now he's basically trying to encourage her to go talk to him. Would he make up his mind? Not to mention the fact that there is no way he could know how good of a bass player she was, so using that as an excuse to start a conversation wouldn't work if Wells thought she was horrible at playing. "Weirdo...," she uttered under her breath.
Lacey turned her stool just enough to make it easier for her to look at the two band members sitting at the table. If Wells was the guitarist, what did that guy play? Why would he threaten her like that? She swiveled back around to look at Christoph again. "I'm not going over there," she responded in her normal tone. She took the last sip of her drink and set it gently on the counter. There was no way she was about to strike up a conversation with mister friendly. First, she was threatened and doesn't want to put herself in a bad situation. Second, she never goes up to talk to someone she doesn't know unless she somehow got forced into it. Third, she didn't particularly care about befriending anyone in the bar. If it happened then cool, but she wasn't about to go out of her way. She just wanted to check it out. Why was it turning out to be so complicated?

▪ × × × × × ▪ Was... was he smiling? Maybe it was the play of shadows over Gavin's face, but something about the upwards tilt of the man's lips gave Daniel the feeling of... a sort of, maybe, might be smile. Just why, he couldn't name, but it was nice to think that the male was feeling something other than irritation. In return, Daniel couldn't help staring, unable to help himself. During his semi-trance, Gavin at some point decided enough was enough. The light touch of fingers against the skin of his wrist startled the coy blond straight out of his curious musing.
His palm tingled and the soft feel of a napkin drew his attention. "What...?" He whispered, uncertain what the small patch of white paper was for. Confused, he lifted it closer and touched it to his mouth. Pulling it away, he found a tiny round of red staining its surface. Taken aback, he quickly replaced it against his mouth. Bewildered eyes lifted to Gavin's. When had he managed to cut his lip - only the faintest tang of iron against his tongue told him that the cut was on the outside of his lip, not the inside. Then it dawned on him that, perhaps, he had once again driven his emotions to the brink. A bad habit, needless to say. He lived so dependently on his sentiments that sometimes they controlled him.
Holding the napkin to his lip to make sure it didn't bleed more, his head tilted to peer self-consciously up at the solemn drummer. It was all so mysterious, especially thinking of when all this had began. Several weeks ago, actually, but Daniel could hardly begin to say how... happy it made him, when Gavin announced that they could be friends. His anticipation and worry had made him tremble in place, faintly, his breath held in his throat. Now it whooshed out, relief and joy blatant upon his cherubic features. "R-really? Can we? I... I... Thank you." Daniel breathed, half whispering, eyes gleaming bright in the low glow of the bar's dimmed interior. A chance, this was a chance for him and for Gavin. He wanted to know more about this mysterious male, whom, despite seeming dissatisfied half the time, expertly played while his band was performing.
A light flush of exuberance rushed into his cheeks: his thoughts came to a bone-shattering halt, like a train coming off the tracks. He hadn't expected anything when he had first decided to confront the black-haired male, but to hear those three words from Gavin was like a dream being realized. That flush deepened until his entire face had gone red, cheek to cheek, the napkin forgotten in his right hand. "Umm... Well, I..." What could he say to that?! Another thank you seemed redundant, but he had to respond with something... anything!! Thus, his head bowed as he a sheepish smile flooded his expression with understated delight. Gavin liked his singing. What a revelation.
"I prefer writing, really... But I'm glad you enjoyed t-the... performance." Daniel murmured. As for talking later, his head nodded, eyes still on his feet. "I'd like that... You... you probably want to get back to... your, um... friends." He replied haltingly, gaze lifting to stare for a moment at Elijah and the unnamed bassist just behind Gavin. Brows furrowing, he mentally corrected himself. Gavin's other friends. He could consider himself among them now, right? Even so, it was slightly embarrassing. Licking his lower, swollen lip, Daniel looked up finally. "Will... you be playing today?" That seemed safe enough of a topic. ▪ × × × × × ▪

◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘ ┌─────────────────────────────┐Daniel's reactions were so animated. In a way, they reminded him of Elijah. Both emotional when provoked. The main difference lay in their core personalities. After all, Elijah was outgoing and would get emotional in an angry type of way. Whereas Daniel was quiet and seemed to get emotional in a totally different manner. Would it be weird if his only friends ended up being emotional; which was the opposite of him.
Then there was the difference between the ways Gavin reacted to them both. The way he reacted when first interacting with them. After all, he is used to how Elijah is now. Elijah's actions shocked him back then, but Daniel's actions have made him want to laugh or smile. He wasn't quite sure why that was. That doesn't mean he has never smiled around Elijah though. Of course, even if he was shocked or wanted to laugh: Gavin would hold it back most of the time, especially at the beginning of a relationship. Wait, why was he comparing the two in the first place?
Gavin didn't respond to the silly questions, but smiled inwardly at the redness of Daniel's cheeks. It was good that he relaxed a bit, but he seemed extremely...happy now. It still baffled him why his opinion meant so much to the blond. Now that he thought about, the song he wrote was for him right? It seemed odd that anyone would find him interesting enough to spur a song. Most people don't really pay attention to him, or if they do, it is not the pleasant kind. He still doesn't really understand why Elijah kept trying.
"No," was his response to the last question. Gavin glanced back at his band members. "I'd prefer not to go back," he said simply. It was slightly amusing that Daniel put um before he said friends; as if he had to debate whether they were friends or not. Of course he wouldn't know how close Gavin was to his band members, but the fact that he actually disliked one was what made the words interesting.______________ 【I am not a click track】

✯✯✯I drink liquid music, so that I may sing to quench the thirst of the world✯✯✯ Elijah glanced over at Gavin; who was still talking to that blond. The one that probably caused him to get up and leave so suddenly. It was weird: the whole situation. Why'd he get like that and why do they seem to be having an actual conversation? Both things are out of character for him. Then again, knowing what happened when he kept trying to talk to Gavin: it wasn't that strange. Elijah tightened the grip on his glass before taking his last gulp. Everything seemed okay now right? So why did he have this unsettling feeling?
"Well?" the bassist paused a moment, "Wells!"
"Uh yea..." Elijah snapped out of his trance. He was obviously not paying complete attention to the other guy. "I'm gonna get another one," Elijah announced with his usual smile.
"I'll get it," the bassist replied as he got up quickly while finishing his beer. Before Elijah could protest, the guy walked over to the bar to get them both some more.
Elijah watched the bassist go to the bar. What is going on? He never does something nice like that. His eyes shifted to look at the band playing, but he wasn't really paying attention to the music. Why was everyone acting so different? A big smile appeared on his face when he caught a glimpse of a certain girl out of the corner of his eye. Not bothering to wait for his bassist to return, he hopped out of the chair and slid up to her. "Hello there pretty lady," he paused to give her a kiss on the back of her hand, "would you like to dance?" He smiled at her while still holding her hand. The girl giggled in a girlish manner and nodded. No use thinking about something he couldn't figure out at the moment. Better to distracted himself, and what better way to do that.
✯✯✯Cage me, but you will never cage my songs.✯✯✯

When Lacey looked down at the people sitting at the bar, she saw him: he guy that threatened her in the hallway. He just walked up to the bar and ordered two more drinks. That was when the guys eyes shifted to look at her through strands of light blue hair. She gasped softly to herself as he gave her a look, before focusing her attention to her empty glass.
Maybe it was a good time to drink another drink. Thinking about what to order relaxed her. Her mind was not wondering about the guy that was a few feet away anymore. As she pondered, she lifted her one hand from the counter and placed her elbow on it instead. Her chin fell into the palm of her hand. Most of her fingers curled to push gently on her cheek, while her pinkie rested on the corner of her mouth. Her eyes looked up from the glass and toward the back of the bar. She wasn't really looking at any of the bottles; she was just thinking. Trying to decide what she wanted next.

"Weirdo? I've been wounded!" Christoph dramatically put his hand to his forehead and pretended to swoon. Another customer came up right next to Lacey, and Christoph became serious again. He filled the order and noticed something odd. The guy was glaring at Lacey, and she seemed to be nervous around him. Christoph handed him the drink, and the guy left.
"Hey, Lacey, you look a little pale. Was that guy an ex- of yours or something?"
Christoph always sounded nosy, but it was because he really cared about the people who came into the Haunted Music Box. As owner, it was his duty to make sure all his customers had a good experience and were happy. When they weren't, he tried to do his best to change that.

Lacey chuckled at his little act. It was official. He was a weirdo. She could see how someone might fall for him even though it probably wasn't a good idea. Wait, why would it be a bad thing? If two people felt the same way then it should be fine right? Or even if someone fell for someone that didn't like him or her: they'd survive. Then why did she feel like it would be bad for someone to fall in love with Christoph. Like it would be more of a heartache and more complicated than normal. What weird thoughts. She just chalked it up as her overactive imagination and continued staring at nothing.
When Christoph asked the question, she looked up at him as her eyes widened. Her hand fell to the table with a loud thump. "WHAAAAT!?" she asked in shock. She hasn't ever really dated before. What makes him think that guy was an ex? Come to think of it, why did he seem to think she was a guy magnet? He really is a weirdo. "No, not at all," she replied with an actual answer this time. She smiled and let out a soft chuckle. "Do you want to surprise me with another good drink?" It wasn't that she was trying to avoid talking about the guy that glared at her, but she kind of gave up on picking a drink for herself.

Was he jealous? That couldn't be it... But what else would explain why he had said that so... tersely. Daniel's blush accentuated the flustered expression on his face, his water-green eyes troubled. Peering back towards Elijah and the bassist boy again, he found a pair of similarly green eyes staring back at him. Blinking, Daniel's shoulders hunched as he fought off a wave of discomfort. Was he bothering Elijah now too?
His gaze darted back to Gavin when a short "no" was given. No? No to what? That he and the band in he was in wasn't going to be playing? No that... Oh. Eyes widening, he lightly touched his lower lip once, relieved when he found the bleeding had stopped. "Wha...- uh, I mean, no? Were you leaving soon? Or... did you want... to get a drink? Some... tea?" He asked quietly, rubbing his knuckles over his cheek before clasping his hands behind his back. Awkward! So awkward! But what else could he say? They weren't close... really. But... they could talk... a little? ▪ × × × × × ▪

"Great!" The boy chirped, his mood picking up as a plan was founded in his mind. He liked it when he had something to do with his hands when talking with other people. It was usually why most individuals would spot him holding a book or a pen or even a music player. He didn't have an iPod like most seemed to, but his old c.d. player worked just fine for him. There was a richness to c.d.'s that he liked, although he'd heard record players were much the same.
"M-my treat. Since I've... been a bother... and all..." He continued, indicating towards the bar. Walking over to it, he found two seats side-by-side and took one. Eying Christoph's busy form, he waited until the light-haired male was looking his way before asking for another round of tea. In a few short minutes, two steaming cups of water and Christoph's fine selection of tea bags were between the two of them, with enough honey and sugar and cream to satisfy any tea-drinker's preferences. ▪ × × × × × ▪

When the tea arrived, Gavin peered at the array of flavors. He wasn't quite sure what he wanted for some reason, definitely not something as sweet as before. Maybe he should try something new. "What kind do you like?" he asked after a while of debating. Daniel might be able to help him decide. Why was he being so indecisive anyway?______________ 【I am not a click track】

▪ × × × × × ▪ Collecting his empty china cup, Daniel glanced to his left and found Gavin's hand situated near by. His lashes lowered as his eyes focused on the relaxed appendage, noting the solid palm and long fingers. He wondered if Gavin got calluses from playing the drum; any musical instruments required constant practice, and many times he would suffer from a bruise or cut or even a sprain. Blisters were common enough.
Lifting his gaze, he felt his head tilt as he considered Gavin's question. Glancing down at the flavors arranged for them, Daniel lightly slid his fingers over a glossy tea packet. Jasmine, Darjeeling, Oolong, Chai... Green, herbal, milk and black. Smiling faintly, he picked up Darjeeling, letting it sway between his fingers. "I'm... happy to try out new ones if Christoph finds something interesting. But most of the time I stick to black teas or chai. Sweeter teas are nice in the evening... Do you have a preference?" ▪ × × × × × ▪

The way he swayed it between is smaller fingers made him want to pluck it out of his hands like a ninja. A barely there smile appeared on his face instead of a chuckle. Sometimes he thought of weird things. "It depends," he paused for a moment before continuing, "Chai is one of my favorites though." Now he really wanted a Darjeeling. Why he didn't realize that before one was separated from the others; who knows. Without pondering anymore about it, he picked up his own matching packet. ▪ × × × × × ▪ Busy with his packet of tea, Daniel didn't notice Gavin's wandering gaze or the smile that began to flux the usual solemness of his mien. Instead, he lightly dunked the teabag into the steaming cup of water he'd poured and set it aside to steep for a number of minutes. Darjeeling was light and golden colored, semi-spicy and over-all a lovely tea. Nothing could imitate it's "muscatel" flavor or floral aroma. He liked having it with a bit of whole milk and a few drops of honey, which made it richer and easier to drink.
A crackle of waxy paper brought his attention up again; his eyes glanced from Gavin's face to the identical packet now lying open on the bar counter. "I had no idea you liked tea so much. I mostly know people who prefer coffee or iced beverages... I do love Chai, though. Iced or hot." Daniel replied, picking up a tiny mixing spoon to swirl around in the slowly coloring water. Inhaling silently, he 'hmmed' a little, a throaty purr of delight. Darjeeling was well known for its wonderful smell too.
"...Do you have any plans this week? You and Elijah Wells seem to be here pretty often..." Daniel asked slowly, peering down at his cup. It was a legitimate piece of curiosity that made him ask this. Their group sometimes played - he wished they would more often - but what was their goal? To become famous? Sign a contract? See the world? They had the potential, surely... ▪ × × × × × ▪

╔═≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎═╗♫ Gavin & Wells ♫ ╚═≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎═╝ Elijah looked like he was focused on his dancing partner. Dancing wasn't something he loved, but he was pretty good at it. He did notice the two walk over to the bar out of the corner of his eye. Was Gavin really going to get a new friend after all this time? He was starting to get the feeling that the guy didn't like the bassist, but he would never talk about it. He had no idea why he got that feeling all of the sudden. He flashed a warm smile at the lovely lady in front of him, trying to return his thoughts to her. This will be good for them...right?
"I don't like coffee," Gavin replied as he dunk the teabag again. He had a problem with fiddling with it sometimes, while watching the swirl of color seep into the clear water. That's were his eyes were focused at the moment. "But I do like ice tea." He said almost as an afterthought. His grayish blue orbs glanced over when the blond made a little purr sound. How interesting.
"Besides practicing? Not really." He replied as he finally left the teabag alone. "We might play here soon," he added a moment later. He didn't feel the need to add why he thought that. Normally he wouldn't offer up information that wasn't completely decided yet, but they played here before and could probably be fit in sometime in the near future.
