According to it's stats, the Akula actually has medium shielding. You'd think it'd have less armor and more shields.
Thou didn't Nelo say we can change stats?

It can be modified. But the ship actually has a redundant shield generator to kick in after the first, which is why its great.

So I guess this means we've decided to do the exploration story thing, since we've moved on to ship types.
I like the idea of recycling the Ruusan. It'd be a good ship, and let us use it so the work involved with coming up with it doesn't go to waste after being barely used.

Hmm.
Aw, hell, why not. Change the name of the ship, and the names of the owner and droids, and it'll do.
Of course... whose permission do I need to use it?

I like the idea of using the Akula again. It was a damned fine ship and we have it with great schematics, so why not use it. But I think we should dull down the armament just a little bit. I don't think we want to be flying around just completely owning the skies. That kinda takes the challenge and fun out of it.
EDIT: Actually... I think we should dull down that armament quite a bit. Probably lose that fighter and the swoop in the bay too. If we have to have a fighter, it should be something that would be cheap and easily available.

Or old and mostly useless, like a Z-95. Pretty much everything flies circles around them, by the rp's time (30 ABY)
I'll leave it up to Nelo and Stellar to worry about the ship's armamant. I'd like it to still be well armed, but it doesn't have to be an obvious military vessel. Also, considering we'll be going into dangerous reasons with little to no help, having the extra weapons might be needed and a god send

Yeah, if it's exploration based, we can't be expecting to have everything we need for encounters we can't possibly see coming.
I imagine a random pirate attack would be a decent challenge to deal with, maybe being just armed enough for that, but not much else.

Not digging the choices, really. The Transports are okay, but eh, being on a combat ship just doesn't make sense. But that's just me. Having large amounts of guns and shields with things like the CR90 and the Akula would be nice, but 1) they don't really fit the theme and 2) make us really lazy as we'll be able to take on anything that is thrown at us.
Plus, Considering the Akula in particular, the biggest excuse is "Because it'd be a waste to let the stats not be used."
If you're going to be using the Akula, though, we shouldn't limit what people have on board. It makes no sense why the crew would have a state of the art ship, but a crew with next to nothing in their name. If you get a state of the art ship, give the crew the state of the art supplies and everything they need..

Hmm.
The biggest problems with the Akula are it's newness and armamant.
CR90's considerably older, but still a pretty hefty threat
YZ-2500, though I think it looks pretty cool, is a model that's at least 70 or so years in the future.
The only one that leaves us is the Action VI.

Okay, I did a quick survery of corvette-sized vessels on Wookiee. Not many. Most of them are military models between 125 and 350 meters. The only non-military models are CR70s, CR90s, and the decrepit Consular-class (the ship that got blown to pieces in Episode 1's first few minutes)
Military models included Crusaders and Assassins, Tartan Patrol Cruisers, and even Carracks. Also a couple of missle cruisers, as well as Sienar's patrol cruiser.
Though on the flipside, I feel anything smaller than Corvette/Heavy Freighter size is too small, which gets rid of most of the popular ships like the YT-series and most of the YZ-series.
So, here's what our real choices are:
- A CR90, which are alreayd pretty customizable - Using the Akula, but severely editing it's stats and armament - The Action VI, and make it a military model

The plot's not really Empire vs Rebs. I set it to 30 ABY, which is after the Vong Wars. Everyone's at peace now, for the most part.
Though if you guys want a change in era, we can do that too. We can bump it up 30 years, and the the Akula will no longer be so fancy.
