Bunsen scurried away from the whisk and hid around some counter. He stuck his butt in the air and wagged his tail from side to side, the front of his body pressed down to the ground, and then he pounced!
"Vrrreee!" He jumped on the whisk and fell over onto his back, then pawed furiously at the tricky kitchen utensil.

"I hope these cookies get done before she calls us back..."

(time warp with wonky order XD)

DING! "You two. Report to my office." WOAH! Nyx was startled and lost her balance, fell off the counter, but landed on her feet. Oh well they made it just in time! Nyx grabbed a shallow bowl and dumped the two sheets of cookies onto it, covered it with a towl, and returned all her pokemon to their balls.
"Ok... Hope this goes well..." And they were off towards Nadja's office.

The door was half-cracked when the two grunts got there, perhaps in invitation to enter.

As the scent of fresh-baked cookies wafted down the hall there was a loud snort, a large black nose wedged itself into the gap, and Nadja's Arcanine stuck his head out the door. He whuffed at the two grunts and started to push his way out into the hall.

Jen was about to approach the door when a large wet nose greeted the two grunts. Jumping back a little, Jen slipped a hand into the bowl and pulled out a cookie.

"Easy boy. Calm down for a sec." She smiled and tossed the cookie at the fire pokemon. "Here ya go. There's more where that came from if you let us through, yes?"

Oh hey. The Arcanine was still gigantic... At least they had peace offerings! Nyx smiled a little. It was cute, for a giant fire-breathing dog.

Nyx would have entered Nadja's office... but the door wasn't big enough to hold that pokemon AND a person.

The Arcanine whipped his head forward and caught the cookie in his massive jaws, briefly revealing pink gums and fangs the size of a hand.

"Moloch!" The Pokemon froze.

Carefully, he lowered his head. The slightly damp cookie dropped on the floor and the giant dog backpedaled into the office, looking chagrined.

When they entered he was by Nadja's desk, ears at half-mast.

Yikes, them was some big-un jaws. Jen had a bad mental flashback of a movie with the same name as she stepped into the office after the Arcanine cleared the way.

"Ma'am?" She bowed. "Is there something you wished to say to us further?"

Nyx gulped as those huge teeth grabbed up the cookie. Hoooooly crap. Books never did a good job of really giving you an idea of how crazily big something was.

Again, they entered the office. Nyx stood rigid and held the bowl of cookies in her hands. "Ma'am" She said in a voice that would have been accompanied by a salute, if not for cookies.

Nadja raised a brow at the bowl of cookies. Ah. Her eyes cut to Jen.

"While I understand the impulse, he's on a controlled diet. Ask first."

She gestured to the chairs again. "Have a seat. And shut the door if you please."

Moloch's nostrils flared as the cookies came closer, but although he looked very interested, he didn't budge. His tail thumped against the floor a few times.

"I apologize, Ma'am."

Plopping down in the seat she had sat in earlier, Jen cast a small wave and a smile at the Arcanine before turning back to Nadja with a serious expression.

Nyx shut the door with her foot as gently as she could and took a seat. Here they were... Back in the dragon's den. Hopefully this dragon liked cookies. Boy did they smell good... Nyx just wished they would have gotten to eat one before they were called back up here.

Her attention quickly turned from cookies and focused on Nadja, though. It was serious non-cookie time.

Clearly the cookies - and the dog - were going to be distractions. Nadja reached underneath her desk; there was a click and the Arcanine disappeared mid-sniff.

The elite folded her hands before her and looked at the two grunts. "Well. Now that we've all calmed down," she began matter-of-factly. The redhead's manner was straightforward, but the fiery intensity in her expression had ebbed.

"I've spoken with the outpost; they ran a second search and confirmed your report. The sample is irretrievably lost."

Nyx nodded. There was no way she was going to say something and interrupt Nadja. At least they weren't in trouble for not finding it when it was still there.
Man... those cookies smelled good. And they were nice and warm on Nyx's lap. This'd be a good place for a nap if it weren't Nadja's office and they weren't being talked to. Maybe she should stop talking in her head so much... But she rambled when she was nervous. Well, and most of the time anyway... Since she couldn't ramble out-loud, that only left her head.

At least when Nyx was lost on a tangent in her head, she was still mostly paying attention.

Jen, too, nodded but vouched not to interuppt.

They were both treading on frail ice, despite the fact that it looked like Nadja had cooled down since their last encounter.

"The loss has been attributed to human error." Nadja's murmured tones were even, almost mellow, but still carried an air of business. "Your attempts to correct the mistake have been taken into account, as well as your acceptance of responsibility." The grey-eyed woman looked first at Jen, then at Nyx, and continued on.

"It would be a waste to dispose of those willing to dig through broken glass and who learn from their mistakes. Those traits may make you worthy operatives yet."

There were two folders on Nadja's desk, each containing a few sheets of paper; she passed one to each of the grunts, extending her arm elegantly over the polished wooden surface.

"There's a mission scheduled to take place soon. These are your briefings. Consider this a second chance."

Jen blinked at the mellow words coming from the elite infront of them. What she had said...it was probably as close to praise for what they did as they were going to get around here.

With a small smile, Jen carefully picked up the folder after Nadja had pulled away and opened it; she skimmed over the words before looking up at the elite with surprised eyes.

"A raid, Ma'am?" She gave a small whistle and looked back at the paper. "That must be some catch coming in."
