Calarneth

Having been recently hired as a teacher, Cal was busy curiously exploring the school grounds. One thing that caught her attention was the playground. There was never anything like this in the Fey Realm. She trotted around the various jungle gyms, slides, and such not really sure what to make of it. 'What purpose could these possibly serve? Some kind of strange monuments? What could it all mean?' In the name of science she picked the slide at random and climbed the ladder. Standing upright at the top Cal poked the decline a few times with her foot to ensure it was safe before finally putting some weight on it. Of course as she did so it just slipped and she flew down the ramp with a slightly bored look on her face. 'Well that was weird. Could this be some form of primitive transportation?' It might work a bit better if it was larger, but either way climbing the ladder took longer than just walking the few yards. Contemplating all this she stood back with a hand on her chin.

Calarneth

As the girl coo'd at Cal's ears they both twitched a little at the unexpected noise. "Eh?" she said turning to see the girl run up to her. Her question was so strange Cal honestly wasn't sure how to respond. Might as well just be straight forward. That's always worked well in the past. "I'm a gnole and these are my ears." she explained in an unenthusiastic tone. After that the new teacher wasn't really sure what to say. She never was the best at socializing after all.

'Gnoles were creepy?' Cal had to pause and think about this for a second. She'd never really considered it but maybe they were. "We can be. Mostly just the feral ones though." She explained. It was a pretty fair point. Sentient as they may be they were still sort of animals, so some had come a bit further than others. Feral gnoles could be quite viscous. Moving right along in the conversation she continued. "Don't worry about it, and thank you?" Cal was a little taken aback at the girl's 'compliment'. In her tribe commenting like that on someone's ears would be similar to walking up to a human girl and saying 'nice breasts'. It was clear she didn't mean anything bad about it though so Cal decided not to correct her. "So you a humin?" She asked changing the subject a little. Was kind of a redundant question but her knowledge of earth creatures was very limited. Not to mention her pronunciation was a bit off.

"Very nice." Cal commented still not really sure what to say. "Why were you hiding them under your hood though? Doesn't that make it hard to hear?" The gnole continued cocking her head slightly at the thought. Although she described herself as a neko, Cal wasn't quite sure what that was. "So... half cat? What's a cat?" the girl asked looking a little puzzled. She had a much more thorough knowledge of fey creatures, and even the animals she knew were mostly self named.

"Ah yes. You mean 'claws'. I know about them." she said in the same slightly dull tone. In her early career as a summoner she'd managed to bring one to the fey realm at one point. "They're cute but very mean yes? When I summoned one it scratched me lots. Very cruel yes." Cal explained still not breaking her monotone. Of course the cat in question was probably just scared out of its mind, having been spontaneously ripped from its dimension. Reconsidering what she just said, Cal turned back to the neko and continued. "You seem pretty nice though."

Cal blushed a bit at her thanks. "No problem." she said in same unemotional tone, the only visible sign of embarrassment being her flushed face. "So you appear to be a native. What purpose do these serve." Cal asked gesturing towards the playground. With magical beasts roaming the fey realm no one had much time for things like this in her home land.

Calarneth

"Strict might not be the right word." Cal explained trying to find the right words. "I'm a member of the Chintamari Tribe. We're a bunch of hunters and gatherers and there isn't much time for fun. Also being nomadic we don't have any buildings that we can't pick up and carry." she said rambling just a little. As soon as one was old enough they'd have to start working to support the tribe. It was a tough but simple life for the gnoles apparently. "Even when I had some time I'd normally practice my magic." Cal continued examining the playground more thoroughly.
