Layla laughed. "If I didn't know, I wouldn't have asked," she said, twisting the question further; it was like a one question-fight. She just looked at him as he complemented her, not flinching as she touched her. "Merci," she smiled, but side stepped and walked around him, stopping as she looked straight ahead. She wondered why they hadn't seen the belltower yet; it couldn't be that short, could it?

She hoped they wouldn't get lost, seeing as it was his first time. Layla had started walking again, when she heard his questiong. Stopping, she looked over her shoulder at him; what shoudl she say? After a few moments of silence, she lowered her eyes, turning her head. "I-I'm sorry, Kuro-san, but..." she started, not sure how to say it. "I can't," she said softly; she didn't turn around, hoping she hadn't wounded him with her rejection.

Kuro sighed and lowered his eyes."Alright...But one thing...Why not?"He asked quietly.Damn...Kuro thought.Oh cheer up already....Listen Casanova...You have plenty of other chances with different girls so don't wake me with your sad thoughts!

Layla closed her eyes for a few moments, hearing his question. "I'd rather not say; it's too complecated of a story," she sighed softly. She, again, really didn't want to explain the whole reason; it was too long to explain and it brought back bad memories for her. She ran her right hand along her left arm, trying to get rid of the little goosflesh that had risen on it.

She doesn't like me...Kuro thought."Alright...Well...Let's just get to the belltower..."He said quietly almost in a whisper.HELLO!!!???KIRA TO KURO!!!DO YOU DAMN READ ME?!Kira screamed inside Kuro's head.You can snap out of it at any moment y'know....Kira added.

Layla felt really bad for what she did, but it was the truth; she couldn't. He must seriously hate me right now, she thought, glancing over at him through the corner of her eye for a moment before looking back down at the floor. They had once again started in the direction they thought the belltower was in, not at all sure if it was going to be their destination.

Kuro noticed the entrance to the belltower."Here we are..."He said quietly.He opened the door."Ladies first..."He said trying to be polite and sound cheerful despite the sadness overflowing him.Kuro...Calm down...Don't be so upset...Kira tried to tell him.

Layla looked up, to see the belltower right in front of them. She narrowed her eyes; it was so tall, but it didn't show over the trees- how unusual. She looked at Kuro and nodded, walking past him and starting up the stairs; she was a little uneasy now, because of what had transpired. The stairs creeked under their feet as they started upwards, towards the trapdoor.

Kuro limped along behind her quietly, the cane making the only noise other than the creak of the stairs.He continued following not really caring much about what happened in his dismal mindset.I said for you to cheer up already...Kira ordered.

Layla put a hand against the trapdoor before pushing upwards, the door swinging. It landed with a soft 'thump' against the floor, dust flying everywhere; how long had it been since the last person was here? She stepped through the opening before turning around and holding a hand out for Kuro. "It's a little dusty," she said softly, still bent down with her hand extended towards him.

Kuro took her hand letting her to lift him up.He couldn't climb with a broken leg even if it was wrapped."Thanks..."He said as he sat with his broken leg outstretched.I hate ladders and broken legs...Kuro thought quietly.

Layla nodded her head, looking at him for a moment. She shifted her gaze to the large bell near them, her eyes shinning even more, anticipation and excitment running rapidly through her veins. That bell... she thought, I-I want to ring it so much! She took a step, looking up at it, her hand running against its rope.
