the issue of waking up is good, but the issue of unraveling one's self is bad. Killing yourself can be good or bad, depending on which self you are speaking of. The Sufi have a saying about the internal struggle, similar to the neoplatonic concept of daemon and eidolon. Alice in wonderland references originate with Theosophy and Madam Blavatsky.
