Nick would never admit to it, but she was happy to be called 'captain' again. It brought back memories of before the organoid incident...

A small amount of steam hissed from her palm as she cooled the palm slightly. The palm had to be hot, but not incredibly hot.
She reached out and placed her hand on the wound. one... two... she removed her hand.

"Get back to base... have it cleaned..." She glanced at the wound making sure it was closed properly. There were no clean utensils for the job, which still made the puncture dangerous. She than looked back at Shun. Her skin had become more pale than it was before. She looked almost albino now.

"Get out now... don't come back here... don't send others..." She took a deep breath. "That thing... is merciless. You and your zoid will... be crushed..."

She let her hand flop on the floor as she slumped forward.
"Keep away from... black fog...it is poison..." She growled. The breaking point was close.

Shun clenched his fists and grunted as she placed her hand on the wound. Once she moved, he slowly relaxed as the pain died down. He took in a few deep breaths and looked down at the cut, which had now been sealed. As Nick said, it would need to be cleaned, but this would do for now.

Getting up to his feet now, he kept most of his weight onto his right leg. The cadet narrowed his eyes at Nick, who looked incredibly ill or something along those lines. Had she inhaled some of the black fog back there?

"You need help," he growled back. Taking her back to the military base was a bad idea, but he figured he might be able to drop her off to a doctor in the nearest town, or even somewhere in the freelands. She had saved and helped him a few times now, so he wasn't so keen on just leaving her here.

Though the fact that she seemed to know what was going on here was a bit suspicious, he put that thought aside for now.

"Come on, I can get you to town or something," he offered, hoping Bent-Tail had reached his zoid by now.

In fact, the organoid had. It took him some time of running around, but he eventually found the Saber Fang and had fused with it to bring it over by the other entrance. It hadn't arrived just yet, but it wouldn't be much longer before he was all set to pick up his pilot.

Before Nick could answer the migraine grew unbearable. She let out a scream and gripped her head with her left hand. Her right hand begun to rattle as it shook violently.

Chords about, four inches in diameter, burst through the walls and begun to attach themselves to Nick's arm, neck and face.

Black fog begun to slowly seep in between the strange chords.

Another shriek from the Jury rattled the walls. Nick gasped. Her eyes widened, yet the glow in her right eye started to dim. Nick wanted to struggle free, but could not muster enough energy to do so.

She had only been this disobedient to the Judge once, and that was when she had seen Kai back in the temple a while ago. The only way it got her to submit was to shut her down completely than force her to obey.

Eyes wide, Shun jumped back slightly as thick chords burst through the wall to grab onto Nick. He didn't know what the hell was going on but there was no way this was a good thing. Trying to think fast, he thought of shooting the chords, but they were too close to her that he'd risk shooting her instead.

So, hesitantly, he grabbed onto his twin daggers to try and cut her free. His blades were sharp, but he didn't know if they'd be enough. He had to try in any case.

The cadet cursed lowly as he attempted this and tried to hold his breath to avoid inhaling any of the fog. It was this sort of thing that was one reason why he disliked having to work with others. If he were on his own, he would only need to worry about himself. But once another is thrown into the equation.. things became considerably more complicated. If one person fell, the others had to work harder to bring them back up and to succeed in general.

Why wasn't he running? Why was he trying to save someone whom he had been lead to believe to be a murderous convict? Nick managed to glance as he moved to cut into the wires. It wouldn't be that easy... he was risking his life...
He knew the dangers, yet tried to help in any case.

The fog only need to enter the body through any open part of the body: pores, ears, nose, anything and it would take affect.

Once Shun drew near it begun to creep toward him as if it had a mind of its own.

Nick clenched her teeth. Her eye's light nearly out by now. With a growl, and a lot of effort, she moved her right arm to push Shun backwards away from the chords.

It was complicated to work with a partner, but at the same time it was a great deal better to work together and support each other through the ordeal. Nick usually worked alone on her missions, but often wished she had someone to get her back during a hard situation.

"go..." Nick gasped. "thank you... go... now.... please"

Shun paused as he saw the fog creep towards him as if it were alive and had a mind of its own. That was a little freaky, though before he could continue, Nick had pushed him away. Staggering back due to his injured leg, he glared at her for doing that. The cadet gritted his teeth, hesitant about leaving. When he heard his zoid give a roar from the outside, signalling it was waiting, he finally gave in.

"Take care Captain..." he grumbled before quickly turning away and limping on out, picking up Nick's dagger on the way. He was trying to move as quickly as he could, and once he reached the opening, he shot one glance back before stepping outside and towards the Saber Fang.

No longer did he think the Empire's side of the story to be true. And because of that, he felt she had been done considerable injustice. It was somewhat ironic for him to be thinking such a thing, considering he once hunted down and killed others without asking any questions. Perhaps being a part of the military boosted his sense of morality or something along those lines.

Speaking of those times, this situation right here and brought back a few sour memories..

Just as Shun looked back the glow in the eye had completely vanished. Her head hung low for a moment before more chords burst through the wall and propped it back. He would get to see nothing more as a burst of fog exploded from the door and obscured his view.

Than, as Shun turned back towards his Zaber fang, that awful clicking noise could be heard followed by the sound of metal scraping against rock.

One lone striker emerged through the fog. This one was missing its right eye, not to mention its dented skull with the imprint of a very sharp hand on it.

Zutnic clicked, churned than quickly bound after Shun.

With all that fog, and the chords that seemed to have been attacking Nick or something along those lines, Shun had to wonder if she'd end up surviving the ordeal. If only he knew the true meaning of those things...

Before he could reach his zoid, the cadet heard a familiar clicking noise coming from behind. Narrowing his eyes, he quickly turned around with daggers raised. Earlier he had just tossed down one of his own blades to grab the dragon-hilted one, so he currently wielded mismatched knives... not that it really mattered much.

Seeing that it was Zutnic, he glared at the striker, not sure if it would be hostile towards him. Zutnic did seem more tame than the rest... but that was towards Nick than himself.

"Oi! Wotcha doin' 'ere?" called out Bent-Tail from within the Saber Fang.

"I come with you." Zutnic approached slowly with his head swiveling from side to side monitoring the ZOID and the Pilot. Strangely, Shun would be able to hear actual words coming from Zutnic's voice. He was now speaking human language? The words sounded very robotic mixed with raptor like hissing and clicking.

"mother's Organoid messenger told me to... she told me to watch Shun soldier... but stay hidden."

His sharp tails waved up and down.

"mother's Organoid messenger says you have little time to get out, Zutnic hide ZOID from death father. But only so long." He lowered his head. "Organoid mother have another message.... but I say latter. Now we go."

Of all things, Shun did not expect to be able to understand the Striker. The way its voice sounded was a little eerie, but at least there wouldn't be any communication issues for now... However, what probably confused him more was the fact that Zutnic said 'mother's Organoid'. Was the striker referring to Nick? His other guess was that the death father was the large zoid he never really got a good look at.

"Alright..." he replied lowly, wondering if at some point he had been knocked unconscious and was now dreaming. The pain in his leg told him otherwise.

Shaking his head to himself, he crawled into Fang's cockpit, while waiting for Zutnic to do the same... assuming the striker would travel in there. The cadet didn't really like the idea of something so sharp and pointy in there with him, but there wasn't much he could do at this point. It seemed Zutnic wouldn't be attacking him.

"Hmph. I can 'ide de zoid too..." said Bent-Tail somewhat indignantly. As if to prove his point, the Saber Fang shimmered and faded somewhat. It didn't simply disappear as a true cloak would have done, but the zoid was somewhat harder to see now.

"good good." Zutnic hissed and nodded.

When Shun entered the cockpit Zutnic bound on the paw, the arm, than headed for the back of the ZOID's neck to attach himself to the joint. For his odd appearance he blended in quite well to the ZOID, making himself look like a small armor tuff on the neck. He'd look for a secure place to hide in the cockpit latter...

The ZOID's Controls would flicker red for a moment than return to normal.

-HA! I still see ZOID, if Zutnic see it death father see it too! Death father sees what Mother sees, and great mother sees all. Rat need become.... ed-you-cated.- Zutnic snicked directly to the organoid.

The forest above exploded with a large plume of black fog towering over the trees than flowing down the side of the cliff. Not but a few second after the ground shook as something large landed a half mile away from the Zaber Fang. Whatever it was was shrouded in a thick mass of black fog, all but its piercing crimson eyes. And by the position of the eyes, the thing was far larger than the Zaber Fang. No doubt what ever had come into the temple ruin had made an outside appearance.

Seeing that Zutnic went to perch elsewhere, Shun went ahead and closed the cockpit. When the controls had flashed red, he wondered if the striker had 'jacked into' the saber fang. If that was the case, he hoped his zoid wouldn't get too confused from everyone that'd be sending it information. Fang just let out a low rumble, deciding to try and ignore the other two machines' banter for the time being.

"Oh 'ush up. I'd like t'see ye do better!" taunted the rat.

Spotting the black fog that now began to tower over the trees out of the corner of his eyes, Shun stared for a moment as the thing was much larger than he had expected. The fog still kept him from seeing what it was exactly, but he didn't plan on sticking around long enough to find out.

Glaring at the fog, he soon tore away, ushering Fang to speed off. He didn't know how much help Bent's stealth would be in this case, nor did he know what Zutnic had in mind. But he'd take whatever he can to get away. Hopefully whatever it was... it didn't have a charged particle canon or something along those lines.

-Zutnic do better than 'disappear'. Zuntic make it familiar- Zutnic laughed at the organoid.

Jury let out a horse like screech before it bolted after the zaber fang. Black fog swirled around it and expanded from its wake.
Though most of it features were hidden by the fog, Shun would be able to see a horse-like skull shape within the fog. It looked as if the creature had an inferno within its mouth and sharp teeth to boot.

Screens would begin to pop up in the ZOID showing strange symbols and languages. Jury was speaking with the ZOID. Or rather Zutnic, but it was channeled through the ZOID.

Jury growled.

Zutnic couldn't control the ZOID, only send out communications and mix signals, however Shun would see another screen pop up urging him to break and let the Jury approach.

As Fang ran, Shun occasionally checked what was behind them to keep an eye on their pursuer. The creature, what he saw of it at least, was like no other Zoid he had ever witnessed. And something of the skull was very much like the statue he had seen... as well as the tattoo on Nick's shoulder.

How are they connected..? he thought darkly.

The screens that came up made it seem as if his zoid was spazzing out or something along those lines. There was no way for him to find out what was going on with those really. But when another screen came up to tell him to stop and let the zoid behind him approach, he hesitated.

Zutnic was there to help him it seemed, but he really wasn't so sure here. Grimacing, he brought Fang to a slow stop before turning him around to face the Jury.

"What does it want?" he growled. He was ready to make Fang bolt off at a moments notice should things take a bad turn with this move.

"To confirm identity..." Zutnic spoke over the com to Shun.

As soon as the Zaber Fang stopped the Jury ceased its pursuit and approached slowly. Its head held high. Flames shot fourth from its nostrils as it let out another screech.

Even from within the core Bent would be able to feel the power present within the Jury. It was far greater than any ZOID they had ever encountered. Friendly or foe.

The strange screens with all the symbols flashed on the screen again. It was constantly changing, no symbol pattern stayed on the screen for more than two seconds. It was like watching a computer speed through data.

The fog soon engulfed the two ZOIDs completely, leaving the Zaber fang in a black void. Visibility, sensors, communication with the outside, it was all cut off. The only thing left to look at was the strange foreign conversation Jury and Zutnic were having.

Shun would start to hear feint, and eerie, screams and hums from outside the cockpit. The area would become increasingly hot, than freezing. It was as if he were pulled to another world.
