Seto stiffened at the sudden weight against his shoulder. He fought off the impulse to just shove the guy on his back and leap away. People, who weren't his brother, did not lean on him, ever. Physically or emotionally. Hell, as Mokuba aged even he didn't really lean on Seto much anymore. After a few moments, he decided it wasn't as unpleasant a sensation as it was merely awkward and foreign.

They were somewhere near the 20th floor now, this craft was so ungodly slow, I mean what was the point of making the service elevator move at the speed of a sloth? As Jounouchi seemed to be recovering at the moment, he decided to just keep with the ascent plan. They were closer to the top than they were the bottom now and Seto decided to stick with his previous plan. He really didn't want to waste the time it would take depositing Jounouchi on the ground floor, ascertaining that there was absolutely no way out of this place without at least a minimum of power, and riding back up here. So he patiently stayed still for Jounouchi's benefit as he waited for the craft to reach the roof.

He just couldn't have pulled away without speaking? "Whatever," Seto mumbled, deciding now really wasn't the time to start a fight, and feeling anything else would be too embarrassing. Leaning back against the wall he glanced over at Jounouchi, asking, "so what were you doing out here tonight anyhow?" He awarded himself points for not degrading him by specifying this neighborhood, which was probably nowhere near whatever wreck he was actually from.

"I needed to finish a project, thought I'd work better if I wasn't half asleep. I didn't have to walk halfway across the city to get here," he began, letting that dig be the closest he'd get to inquiring why one would travel so far merely for caffeine. "Even so, I wouldn't have walked, but didn't realize my cell was dead until I was already outside the building. Figured it'd be just as east to walk myself, as it would be to go back inside and find a phone, or travel to where I think my nighttime chauffeur loiters."

He glanced upwards after his brief and uninteresting explanation, 23rd. It's like the engineer went out of their way to make this the slowest elevator on the face of the planet. They must have been going for that Guinness records book.

"So do you often find yourself incapable of sleeping, and therefore running halfway across the city in the middle of the night?"

"Still seems like an unlikely trip to make in the middle of the night, but whatever." Before he could say more the elevator stopped, and Seto laughed. "So is it just me, or is something unnaturally weird happening here tonight?"

Well, maybe fate really does have it out for these two. He certainly didn't halt this elevator. Deciding not to interfere, he let the cage hang suspended just under the 24th floor.

"Weak?" Seto snorted in protest, but he didn't argue much more than that. He knew it was true, didn't make it any less offensive. Standing up, he went to stand next to Jounouchi, smirking a bit as he noticed the hand still hoovering near the emergency keys. "And how should I know what's going on, isn't mystical magical nonsense more the expertise of your friends?"

((Warning you I'm leaving tomorrow night for Davis, going up for Picnic Day, I'll be gone less than two days this time, I'm coming back early Sunday, but if I don't show up Friday/Saturday night you'll know why. Although you've usually got DnD joy right? I have work 7:30 - 3:30 tomorrow for nhusd, joy how I know this and yet am still refusing to go to bed. Need to run home and pack. Do stuff with my mom at 4:30, go coach at 5:30, and as J and another of our coaches (we have 4 total, including myself and J) have to stay to coach the HS swim meet, I'll def have to stay until 7:30, possibly 8:30 if some insane craziness goes on at the HS and I have to coach all 3 practices. That'd be weird, I never coach the 3rd one in spring. Only sometimes the 2nd. Then I get to drive to Davis for about 1.5 - 2 hours. What a gloriously long day it shall be. Seriously, why am I awake still?!?

"So you're useless," Seto finished helpfully, pretending not to notice the withering glare that earned him. "So considering things already seemed rather grim, what's inspiring the frown this time?"

Seto chuckled quietly to himself, although he was aware Jounouchi was quite capable of hearing. He got to his feet and stepped closer to Jounouchi, deciding he wanted to add his height to the taunting. True that hadn't stopped him from getting punched before, but he hadn't been expecting it before. "I didn't say you needed a reason, but most people tend to have motive behind their actions. Things have been bad all night, you are frowning more now than before, ergo, one would logically assume that an additional motive had come into play. Although logic isn't particularly your game is it," he added with a smirk, finishing, "and you can't prove that I'm useless, maybe I'm fully aware what the situation is and just like watching you suffer."

He stepped back slightly, he had a longer reach so more distance would be to his advantage if this turned into a fight. Not that he was completely looking for one, but it would be mildly amusing, and a distraction from the situation that he most certainly was useless in. Despite suggesting otherwise.

"You have got to be kidding me, what would I have to benefit by an elaborate scheme? More importantly, why would I want you! I mean I'm talented, but even if there were some reason I'd have planned all this, how exactly could I have controlled where you would be and what you would do? And I think the biggest flaw with your accusation, under absolutely no circumstances would any plan of mine involve me on the ground, unconscious, or incapacitated in any other way," Kaiba lectured, moving forwards until their chests almost brushed against one another. In spite of the haughty accusative tone, he was still rather amused, and it took great effort to suppress the grin struggling to break through. Perhaps it was the sleep deprivation, he really had to start leaving the office earlier.
