haha i know. isnt the mixing just horrible? sure feel free to tear all you like. actually, the backing tracks were recorded quickly in a studio, then the lead guitars were mixed in by myself using the line in on my sound card, connected to the headphones jack of my amp. haha, it was a rusty solution, but i just needed sound to finish my project and hand it in. as a demo tape, its just plain horrific.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The backing tracks do sound alright, and the timing on them is pretty solid (There's some moments in the Jazzy one that the drummer or the bassist are slightly off) but what caught my attention the most was your playing. My biggest suggestion to help you improve on your playing (technically) is to go and buy a metronome. Once you've got that, you need to start playing your stuff at a comfortable tempo, then work your way up to the tempo that you want.

definitely. i get the impression that my playing sounds pretty.. rushed with bad control. although, i tried my best with what i had. i personally find it hard to sweep and maintain good tone on a beat-up squier affinity strat. but pretty soon im gonna buy me a better one xd hehe. besides, one important goal of my project was just to rpactice my improv and composing skills (which are not that spectacular, but hey, thats why its practice!). so i would still like to one day come back to these songs and rework them with improved skill and timing hehe. thanks for yer critique, man.

I'd think that if you can do stuff like that on the squier than you can justabout do it on anything. xd

well actually right now im practicing on an S series Inbanez, like just to try it out, and i find it a hell of a lot less cramped and uncomfortable than on the squier. less buzzing, bouncier response, but i do miss the strat sound, but i suppose thats just cuz the stock humbuckers with the ibanez arent that great eh? but im enjoying my practicing a lot more! hehe.

Trick is: get the ibanez that you want, then switch to some dimarzio pickups (try the Evolutions, they're freaking nuts).

Stuff sounds great, Hypermonkey. Better than anything I could do at this point, and I've even got a standard Tele! I guess I should get some more cables and work on recording some more stuff, show what I can really do wink I got an old mixer from my uncle.

standard tele? lucky guy. its cool that you nabbed a mixer. itll probably give you a better sound than my hobo method with the line in of my sound card. i would buy one myself, but i dont make enough money, haha. so the fact that you got one for gratis is awesome. when you get around to making some samples, dont forget to post them so i can hear! hehe. thanks for your post, man

I can't seem to find any good free mixers that I can record more than 60 seconds on sad At least soon I'll have a decent mic with a 1/4 inch jack that I can run through my mixer.

Have you tried Audacity? It's pretty good, and quite free.

ya ive tried audacity, its very nice and i would use it more often, but i have Soundforge XP. (came with my brothers sound card). thats not bad either. but i still dont like the idea of connecting the headphone jack of my amp into my line in on the sound card using a mini-plug. the sound is very... grainy. and not in the good sense haha.

Thats why I'm trying to hook myself up with a nice Peavey studio mic, so I can mic my amp into my mixer, then run it into my sound card.
