"Oh, well that's exciting," Leyenda laughed as she finished drying off her hair. She stood in front of Lin and leaned over to get a good look at the infant.

"Fox child?" she asked, looking up at Lin and grinning. "I've never seen anyone like that. Just you and the nekos."

"Magic gifts?" Leyenda repeated, moving to sit on the chair next to Kelirahc. "What kind of magic gifts do you mean?"

Earendil blinked down at Lin. "You never said anything like that to me," he told her, pouting slightly.

Earendil chuckled softly. She had a point. But he was just teasing her anyways.

"Sounds fascinating," Leyenda grinned at Lin, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "It will be just like elven children, growing up and not knowing when their power will manifest or what it's going to be."

She glanced over at Kelirahc and opened her mouth to speak, but he was staring at Earendil, and the look on his face made her stop before she could say anything. She looked over at Earendil, but didn't notice anything different, and then looked back at her husband. "What?" she asked him curiously.

Kelirahc blinked, then shook his head. "Nothing, I think," he murmured. "I just ... Earendil is different today, that is all."

Earendil blinked and stared back at Kelirahc. "How am I different today from any other day?" he asked, tilting his head curiously.

Kelirahc kept staring at Earendil, his eyes narrowing slightly as he tried to put his finger on whatever it was that was different.

"Something ... about the way he is acting," he decided. "I do not think he has been so carefree, or even so childish, if I may say, since we arrived here."

"He did explain to us why it's different when Lin's around," Leyenda reminded her husband. "Things are just more laid back when there are visitors."

"We are visitors," Kelirahc reminded her.

Earendil tilted his head curiously, though he was feeling a bit self conscious now as well. "I'm fairly certain that I'm not behaving any differently than usual," he agreed with Lin.

Kelirahc opened his mouth to protest again, but he was interrupted by Amalirahc, who chose that moment to let out a loud cry, letting his parents know that he was awake.

"I will get him," Kelirahc volunteered, since Leyenda was still drying her hair. He got up and took the boy from his cradle, holding him to his chest and rocking him gently.

In the month and a half (three lunar months) that Lin had been gone from the Four Lands, Amalirahc had grown several inches and looked quite a bit older than he had before.

Kelirahc smiled warmly, the previous discussion forgotten already (much to Earendil's relief), and sat Amalirahc on his lap once he was sitting down again.

"He is growing very quickly," he said proudly, looking down at his son, who yawned and rubbed his eyes, and then his nose. "He was walking already when you left, but now he runs around as if this is where he was born."

Leyenda giggled. "He does keep us busy," she agreed.

Amalirahc spotted Miyuki, and he stared and stared at her. That was something new. He remembered Lin and Senka (vaguely) but he had never seen something like that before ...

He pointed at Miyuki and looked up at Kelirahc. "Dah?"

Kelirahc smiled. "That is a baby," he explained. "Just like you were!"

Amalirahc blinked at him. "Bah," he replied. He looked over at Miyuki again and pointed at her again. "Bah!"

Earendil chuckled. Both of them were just plain cute.
