Three vehicles were built for the production of the film.
one of the driverz died by accident and there they built a fourth car but dont know if that counts
To the inspiration i just know they wanted to make aero-engined cars.
one was a Mercedes chassis fitted with a 23-litre six-cylinder Maybach and they other was Mercedes too.

PandaGrr I think...six cars? Writer Ian Fleming took his inspiration for the car from a series of aero-engined racing cars built by Count Louis Zborowski in the early 1920s, christened "Chitty Bang Bang" And...yeah. ^^ Right. Go ahead and roll. =)
