Devonte grabbed his new wound, letting a sharp groan of pain slip past his lips and fell to his knees. "UUHHRRG!" he grunted as a wound on his back appeared. A look of horror snapped onto his face. He started panting. His arms were trembling.

Ren just nodded at the Hunter-nin's words. Well, they were true. And Devonte looked in pretty bad shape too. He sheathed his sword and went to the jounin's side. "D-Devonte-san?" He said uncertainly. The man looked terrified. Wasting no time, he pulled out a roll of bandages from his pocket. He'd taken them from the M.W. for one of his wounds that constantly needed new bandages. It was healed up now, he'd just forgotten to give them back. He unravled a length of it quickly and ripped it off, wrapped it up a bit and held it over the wound. The way he was breathing.... it wasn't the rasping just from the stab wounds, it was like he was in a panic attack or something. The old man looked dazed in terror....
Well, the wound looked like it could be healed. He doubted any on them were medi-nin though. But living in the slums- you at least knew how to bandage a wound. Doing his best to keep pressure, he lifted up Dev's shirt just past the wound. Ren wrapped the bandages around him quickly, but not so as to dress the wound improperly. It actually didn't look half-assed. He did the same with the wound on his back. 'How had she done that?' was all he could wonder. Still, Devonte still looked horrified.

Devonte's mind was flashing back to the night where he'd first gotten an axe to the back.... but he was trying to snap out of it. Fighting the rising panic that was welling up inside him. Even after all these years, it looked like the P.T.S.D still had some hold on him. He wasn't regressing as bad as he had the last time, but he still couldn't get his body to react to anything he was telling it.

Ren's facial expression hadn't changed a bit the whole time. His face was still stern as ever. He lifted Devonte's arm over his shoulder and tried to support his weight as best as he could. Ren had noticed that the jounin was in damn good shape for someone his age. Ren was just glad he wasn't one of those fat old men! The boy was unhealthily thin and lanky, but he'd be able to make it back to the village. Still... "Natsuyo! C'mon!" Ren barked. That chick-man better help him with this! He turned to the Hunter-nin. "Is there another genin with you?" he asked. There was supposed to be one- that's what he'd been told, and he'd thought he'd seen another girl.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:57 pm

Without much ceremony the Hunter Nin made his way over to the girl. As he did so he formed a single handseal and the rock severed at the wrist, leaving the hand gripping her burned body. He hefted it up on his shoulder and snorted quietly under his mask. A job well done?
"Make it back to the village quickly. The other missing nin is still about. If he catches you you will die. A likley consequence of your death would be the death of your teacher. If you want to pay him back- don't let him die."

And with that, the ANBU was no more than a puff of smoke fading into the mist.

Unfortunately, Natsuyo had frozen up. He'd thought he'd be ready for a mission outside the village - but witnessing Devonte's little bout with the female nin had proven him wrong when he'd been so easily shaken. For sure if the old man hadnt been there - if Natsuyo actually had participated in the fight - even if it was so short- the chances were high he wouldnt be still breathing.

His 'teammate' snapping at him seemed to break the spell that had captured him. "R-right, sorry!" he responded, shoving both useless kunai back in their pouches and leaping down to where Ren and Devonte were. He took the old man's free arm, slinging it around his shoulder much as Ren was. If he were assisting carrying the old man then they'd surely get back to the village quicker. "L-Let's go."

Amaya had kept her distance from the Hunter Nin since he had ordered her too. She didn't want to get in his way, especially when he began to attack. Being that she was only a Genin, she would only get in the man's way.

During the combat she watched all of the attacks being exchanged between the Shinobi's. She had also noticed the older man and the two others who were with him. They had all fought to bravely and well, making her feel extremely useless but it couldn't be helped.

Once the Hunter Nin had disappeared she approached the others. They didn't seem like enemies since they were helping the other. "Are you all alright?" She asked them, as she stood a few feet away from them.

Ren glanced at Devonte's face. It hadn't changed. He heard the girl's question. "Yeah. We're fine." he said simply. He saw that she was, indeed, a Mist shinobi. "We were ordered to return to the village. Let's go." He spoke bluntly. He'd been useless in the fight and now he had to make up for it. That was simply the way things went. And the best way to do so now was to follow orders. It was part of his job as a shinobi. He shifted Devonte's arm into a more secure position and started walking, urging Natsuyo to get moving too. Once Natsuyo got the message, he'd jump into the trees with them. Like the Hunter-nin had said, they had to get back as fast as they could.

Natsuyo had gotten the message quickly- and they were soon on their way. Helping carry half the man's weight wasnt that much of a deal - such things were easy enough. However Devonte's weight would slow them down a bit more than the speed they'd arrived at. However, to keep their progress steady, to keep himself from being even more of a hindrance, Natsuyo focused on their footing, speed and where Ren was going next, so as not to make things harder for his teammate.

They were going at a fair speed. At least Natsuyo was keeping pace, not that Ren really had to slow himself down at all. Devonte was murmuring something indecipherable. But it didn't seem pleasant. His gaze was absolutely blank, but there was a look of panic in his eyes that didn't seem to fade. Ren just shrugged it off. Not like there was much he could do.
They were about half way back to the village now. Ren said nothing. Just focused on getting to where he needed to be.

Amaya kept quiet and followed them back to the Village. She had heard the older man blabbering but couldn't understand. She knew that they had to move fast before another attack, but what was he trying to say? "Speak up, Old Man." She finally said, keeping the pace with the other two.

"Who are you anyway?" She then asked. It seemed the questions were being asked at a bad time but at least it would keep the elder busy. It was like a small distraction to get him to stop thinking about the pain or wound. "You're too old to be fighting..." She then mumbled to herself.

When they had left Suna and left the Desert and the outskirts of Neru, Regimaru decided to walk closeby instead of climbing up the tree like a lemur and jumping from the branches like a damn maniac.

He then looked back at Akeru and Akira and snorted a bit, though no noise came out. The two seemed okay. He just hoped they weren't as bad as his last squad.

... God did he apologize... He hated writing sob stories...

It didn't seem to Ren that this reaction was caused simply by his wounds.... But Devonte didn't answer. It didn't even seem that he could hear the girl. "His name's Devonte. Now shut it!" Ren said bluntly. He'd heard the part about him being 'too old.' Ren didn't show any form of courtesy to many people; etiquette wasn't a necessary skill in his mind, and pretty damn useless where he lived; but Devonte had done enough to warrant Ren's respect. And when Ren Niigata does respect someone, he doesn't take too well to any form of disrespect directed at said person.

Devonte was still stuck in his flashback.... the scene played over and over again in his mind as the axe-wound in his back throbbed.

---------------
Kazeryu Akira

"Even the most gentle wind
Can become a great hurricane"

User ImageMaybe it was because the leader of their group couldn't speak, but it the journey had been much to silent. They had already passed through the desert into the forests, and still he and Akeru had barely said two words to eachother. And he didn't really see Regimaru being the icebreaker between the two of them.

They were supposed to be a team. Sure, Akeru may not have been the kind of person that Akira usually socialized with, but they needed to know about eachother if they were going to be an effective team. Also, he may not have liked her personality much, but he did find Akeru attractive, so it wouldn't hurt too much to try to at least get on her good side.

"So...if we're going to be working together, I think it is important for each of us to know what we all can do. I mean, Regimaru-sensei probably knows our skills already, but we should learn more about eachother. Like...you said you were a genjutsu specialist, right Akeru? I myself have always been a little...lacking in the genjutsu department. It'll be good to be working with someone who can make up for my deficiency."

Akira had always been one to admit his own faults. He was hoping that showing Akeru a vulnerability of his would help build a bridge of trust between the two of them. His brother had told him what had happened on some missions when he didn't work well with a new team because of trust issues. However, he didn't want her to think he would just be a burden on the team either.

"Umm...I myself specialize in wind release ninjutsu and sword based taijutsu. I've always been told that I am pretty skilled in both. Regimaru-sensei, I was wondering if you specialize in taijutsu yourself, seeing as you carry a sword too. And Sukami-san, I know that many genjutsu specialists suffer from a weakness in taijutsu, does this hold true to you too?"

Akeru rolled her eyes the second Akira began talking. She had been enjoying the silence. The last thing she wanted was him bugging her for the rest of the trip. He was right, though; they should learn about eachother's abilities. Though she was more interested in what Regimaru could do. Akira's abilities were quite obvious, and the only real interesting thing he had said was his weakness in genjutsu. That made him an excellent test subject for developing some new techniques.

"With a name like Kazeryu, its obvious that your family specializes in wind techniques. And, though I can already tell you're not that intelligent of a fellow, I believe that since you made it to genin, you're smart enough not to bring weapons you can't use into battle. Seeing as you only have your two swords on you, you obviously know how to fight with them. Now, do you really want to waste my time telling me more things that I already know?"

Akeru continued following Regimaru, letting her eyes wander once in a while to look around to the forest. She had never been outside of the desert, at least that she remembered, and it was definitely a new experience. Though it felt unfamilliar, there was also a peace to it.

"I can handle myself in taijutsu. I'm not an expert, but I can cast genjutsu while fighting. So I won't need to be rescued just because an enemy's in my face. Listen, I'm sure Regimaru-sensei knows all about what we can do, so we just need to listen to...err...read his instructions and carry them out. Then again, Regimaru-sensei, I am curious to know exactly what you can do..."

Regimaru looked back at Akira and shrugged, tapping his hand over his sword as he wrote down something on his notebook:

'I do a bit of swordplay, but that's about it.
I mainly focus on my kekkei genkai.'

He then looked over at Akeru and shrugged, writing down more as he walked along the Forest,

'We should be heading there shortly, if not later. And I read
about you and your sword taijutsu; quite impressive.'

...So he focuses on his kekei genkai...too bad he didn't think of writing down what it does, though...

Akeru wanted to ask Regimaru about his kekei genkai, but she also didn't want to get into that discussion. She was sure that Akira would probably ask her about hers, and she really didn't feel like explaining it. The more she thought about it, the more she realized Regimaru might feel the same way, especially since he would have to write down a long explaination. For her, it was annoying enough having to explain, and she could just tell people it. It would drive her insane if she had to write the same long story out so many times. Plus, she had a particular reason she hated discussing her kekei genkai. When she did, someone who was smart enough could figure out her annoying and embarassing weakness. So, she decided to save Regimaru and herself the grief of bringing up the discussion.

"So, if we're heading off to do sparring, who are we sparring against? Is this some kind of joint training session with the could ninja? I mean, if we're fighting them, I don't want to end up getting in trouble if I, say, make someone run home crying..."

Regimaru smirked and wrote down something as they neared the Cloud village,

'Nah. Just some weakling Cloud genin Noharu a friend of mine knows.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Really.'

He then took from his belt a water bottle and spotted a bird perched on a branch nearby.

"..." He then got out his notepad and began drawing it as he walked away from the bird and walked toward the Cloud village.

He always did have a weakness for birds...
