The boy leaned back for a moment to stretch between his reading of the clan scrolls. Though he had only just begun the true studying of the technique he had already learned a great deal more about the jutsu than he had at the library. Apparently it called for the user to develop what was referred to as dark or shadow chakra. Though he hadn't trained in using any elemental chakra yet, the boy was aware of its existence. His reading of these scrolls however was the first he had heard of such a chakra type. That unfortunately meant that he would have slightly less of an understanding on how to form the chakra later on. He wasn't all to worried about the matter since the scrolls did outline the overall feeling that the user should have pretty well.

With his mind resettled and slowed back down, the Nara came back to his normal posture to continue his studies. While he enjoyed any studying to begin with, there was something about immersing himself in understanding a jutsu that not everyone else in the village had access to, that was rather exciting. If he kept up at that rate he might even become an asset to a team one day, instead of a liability.

With yet another section of the scroll read through the boy was feeling both more confident and more wary of attempting to learn his clan's jutsu. Not having anyone else around to explain some of the issues to him was more than a little inconvenient. However all of his older sisters had learned the technique so it couldn't be all that hard. The section he had just finished had discussed how the user needed to meld their chakra with the shadows connected to himself. Apparently the dark chakra could not permeate any form of light, just as a shadow couldn't exist in front of a light source. Though the concept of dark chakra was still a bit hazy to the teen, he likened the combining of his chakra with shadows with the Touei that he had learned previously. Working his chakra externally from himself wasn't entirely foreign.

Since Rhaim didn't want to waste anymore time than he needed to, he dove right back into the scroll. After all his sisters did go out of their way to make sure that he had the materials needed to at least research the jutsu. Without lifting his head or finger from the parchment, the Nara carried on with his task.

The boy lazily let his body slowly tilt to his left after he finished yet another portion of the jutsu's text. He continued to teeter until he toppled over completely onto his side. With a soft sigh he stared out across the floor and considered the ramifications of what he had just read. While the previous portion about him focusing his dark chakra into the shadows was easy enough to grasp and even imagine doing, the next part seemed much more difficult. Apparently the user had to intertwine his or her chakra with the environmentally dark chakra inherent in shadows. The scroll referenced it to how a ninja with fire affinity was able to use their charka to shape and control the natural chakra found within fire. However, Rhaim did not have a fire affinity. He had an earth affinity and no idea with which he would attach his chakra to earth particles.

One comforting thought he got from it though was that the scroll claimed it was easier to attach dark chakra to dark natural chakra than it was for elemental chakra to be attached to natural elemental chakra. So in theory the boy figured that learning the Kagemane no jutsu would help him with earth style justus down the road. Somehow it still didn't make it seem any easier to the boy.

With another sigh the Nara male hoisted himself back up to a seated position to finish off his research. While he wasn't too terribly confident in his abilities, he knew that his sisters had figured it out somehow. Rhaim would be damned if he would let them have anything more of him then they had to.

Unfortunately for the young Nara, just wanting to be better than his current self was not enough to keep him awake. He soon found himself choking on his own saliva with his head tilted all the way back. With the image of the ceiling before his eyes and a terrible burning in his throat, Rhaim was brought back to the land of the conscious. After a serious of heavy violent coughs and heaves the boy was able to get control of himself once more. He beat his chest with his right fist while rubbing his forehead with his left hand. He was suddenly glad that he wasn't studying in the library since he would have probably been kicked out for such an outburst. With a deep breath and one final thump on his chest, Rhaim calmed himself back down.

The boy rubbed his face and neck with both hands and then used them to trace through the scrolls to re-find where he had left off. Despite the minor set back he was not about to take time off from his research. He was too close now.

It took every last once of the boy's concentration, but he finally made it through all of the clan scrolls pertaining to the Kagemane no Jutsu. The closing points of the scrolls were actually rather dry, just giving off a brief history of its development and transformation to its current form. It didn't surprise the Nara so much to know that he had fallen asleep at such a low point in the first place. Though that was no longer a matter of much concern as he proceeded to roll the supporting scrolls back up. He would need to copy over the actual jutsu scroll at some later time.

For the time being though, Rhaim found his eyes to be much too heavy to commit to any further training.

Finally recovered from the massive amount of sleepiness that researching the Kagemane no Jutsu had given him, Rhaim returned to the house common room to tackle the next step in his training. This time all he had laid before him was the actual jutsu scroll itself and a blank scroll for him to copy the contents over to. Though it felt like somewhat of a waste to copy it all over since he was under strict orders to destroy the document immediately after he had learned the technique. Thus with a sigh and a stretch of his right hand, since that would be doing all of the writing, he seated himself before the two scrolls. The first portion to copy over was the introduction to the jutsu itself and a few small safety considerations for the user. The boy traced his left forefinger along the text of the original document while transcribing the words to his own copy.

With the introduction to the Kagemane no Jutsu copied over to Rhaim's blank scroll, the boy set down his pen and twisted his body to the left. While not an overly tasking endeavor in and of itself, it had been some time since he had last copied over a jutsu scroll. The boy had forgotten how tiring and boring the beginning stages of learning a jutsu really could be. After holding his stretch for several seconds he twisted himself in the other direction and then finally arched himself backwards. Once his little ceremony was complete he picked up the pen from its place and set his tracing finger back onto the original scroll.

Though not having the nice librarian girl take care of his studying needs was a bit disappointing, the smell of his mother cooking a couple rooms over definitely made up for it. In fact he couldn't help but let his mind wander a bit about what they would be eating that night.

The Nara boy lifted the pen from the copied scroll and left his tracing finger on the original scroll. He wanted to read over the whole thing again in order to ensure that he hadn't wrote anything that was incorrect. Since the portion he had just finished was concerning the actual formation of ones chakra to do the technique, it was rather critical that he get it all down perfectly. Though the fact that he had read on it previously and was now reading into it more in depth should be plenty, he didn't want to take any chances. He may not be able to train on the jutsu right away and thus having an accurate copy of the scroll was necessary.

Confident that he had done the copying over in a satisfactory fashion he set his pen back down to his copy. Rhaim was ready to continue his work and copy the section that described the hand seals. Which obviously would require him copying down the hand seals themselves.

Rhaim traced over the hand seals laid out before him with both his eyes and his finger. Ensuring that his mind wasn't somewhere that his hand was not. However it didn't matter a whole lot since he wasn't actually writing anything down on his copy the whole time. The realization of this fact nearly made the poor Nara slam his face into the floor beneath him. Though in the end that would have not helped him in any way with correcting his blunder. He would simply have to suck up his failure and drive on with the task in order to get to training for the actual jutsu. Though even with that thought process in his head, the boy still wanted to lay himself down and nap from the excessive work that he hadn't done.

In the end he somehow managed to bring himself to reset his tracing finger and get back to work copying over the hand seals.

Unfortunately Rhaim found himself yet again unable to fully concentrate on the task at hand and thereby failed at copying down the respective hand seals for the Kagemane no Jutsu. With a slight sigh he placed the pen down in its well and began rubbing his eyes to chase away any potential sleep. Since he had just taken a nap he didn't figure that he was actually still sleepy, probably just a little absent minded. The which was not all together unfamiliar to the boy. Afterwards he stretched his neck, arms, and wrists to ensure that nothing would cramp up from the minimal amount of work that he had already put in. Confident that he was back in some sort of groove he reached for his pen again while finding his place on the original technique scroll.

Though he wasn't necessarily pressed for time, the Nara wasn't really fond of the idea of still having the work to do later on when he could finish it now.

Despite the boy's best efforts to truly focus on copying down the jutsu scroll, he found again that his mind was far too fickle. He hardly even got past the first syllable before he started daydreaming about how long it had been since the last time he had had a meal with his entire family. Though something that he should address later, in his current state he needed to set that on the mental back burner. Much as he had apparently done with the task sitting literally in front of him. The Nara shook his head violently in an effort to refocus himself and his writing hand. He almost wanted to give himself a pep talk, but knew that it was all too futile.

And so he simply set himself back to work.

After plenty of slacking off, dozing off, and all around ignoring the tedious task of copying over the hand seals for the Kagemane no Jutsu, Rhaim finally put ink to scroll. Upon inspection and reflection of his work, the boy gave a shrug at the lack of effort and wasted time. In the end though he had driven himself a small bit further towards his goal of actually learning the technique. All that he needed to do at that point was continue with his positive momentum and copy over the meat and potatoes of the jutsu scroll. That was of course the portion that went into great depth of how to combine all of the different aspects of conducting the jutsu. The one part of course that the Nara still wasn't certain if he fully grasped yet. He foresaw much daydreaming in his future as he sighed and set pen to paper again.

It came as no surprise to the young Nara that his mind drifted so far off of the simple task at hand. While he only had to continuing thinking and focusing on the clan technique, he found himself considering what types of clouds were passing by and whether they would get any rain later in the week. None of which of course helped him in anyway to copying down the text from the original scroll to his soon to be short lived copy. The Nara twisted his body around from right to left and then the opposite direction while holding the pen at just under eye level. With no just cause he had some fear that if he relinquished the pen that any chance he had of staying focused would be lost. In all reality he was simply running out of tricks to use to try and keep his mind at ease.

With his stretches complete he gave himself a quick nod and re-found his spot on the original scroll to press forward. Or at least so he hoped.

Much to the boy's amazement, when he looked up from his the tip of his pen he found that he had in fact somehow managed to copy over the portion of the scroll. While he was certain that given his history on such tasks that he would be barely waking up at the moment, he was actually rather close to being done with copying over the Kagemane no Jutsu for his own use. Though he was tempted to take a quick break in celebration of his success, the Nara knew that he was in no need of such a thing and would likely be happier in the end to just finish his work for the day. The simple idea of being done and able to sleep the rest of the day away was enough for him to keep pen to page.

With a satisfied yawn and stretch backwards the boy was finally finished with another boring piece of work. After holding his stretch for several seconds he straightened himself back up to organize the supplies before him. He first rolled up the original jutsu scroll and walked it over to the table where he had first discovered in when he came home. The Nara then took his copy and the pen with ink well back deeper into the house to his room. While most shinobi would have been all too excited to begin work on the technique immediately, Rhaim had no such plans. In fact the only thing that was still on his mind was how comfortable his bed was going to be after such menial work.
