The Aura's flared slightly and the pendant immediately began to scream at him, confused as to which bird to shoot, Renu, lowered his magnum and instead generated a large current of electricity in his hand. He let it escape from him and the bolts quickly connected with the negative particles in the air creating an impressive bolt of lightning.

It's alright, Lady Emma. Scribbler felt the tickling of a spell against her and let the illusion fall. High enough to make a difficult shot for her would-be hunter, she hoped.
The remnants of ink reformed to shield Scribbler against the impressive bolt of lightning, allowing it to spark; the stream of pigment dripping down from it channeled it down against her foe in a blaze of blue-black energy.
Scribbler was safely ensconced within the shield, if a little dizzy from the ozone that filled the bubble.
[eep. Gotta run.]

Emma subsided and settled with watching, ready to aid Scribbler at a moment's notice.
The black magic's siren song still sang in her mind, and the temptation to take control of Renu's mind was almost too much for her to bear.
Almost.

The returning attack sent Renu into a state of panic he quickly tried to evade and ran from the blaze but it continued to follow him, he cursed loudly and jumped back charging another bolt to counteract the flame inches away from him.

"Your mission remains the same, kill the ones I have told you to." Replied a Soulless One in the same voice, this one was a small boy."Do not bother addressing each one, their all shells; I just take control of them."
[gotta go as well! Sorry!]

The blast unleashed itself and collided with the flame, it was still not enough, Renu was engulfed in the fire, and yelled in a great howling pain, the pendant sparked and began to wrap itself around him trying to shield him from the fire, it provided a slight protection but still the pain was present. The voice came from a young boy, "You know what, why don't you fight the other bird, while I continue to burn." His body screamed in agony, and the necklace did it's best to keep him alive.

[...or not, I guess I don't have to go. ^^;] Scribbler allowed the shield to open somewhat, watching the ink-powered blaze. It guttered somewhat as Renu hit it head-on with a bolt of lightning, but merely flared, growing stronger with the addition of energy.
With a little concentration, Scribbler sent the ink moving around the mercenary, effectively creating a wall of blue flame. With any luck, he would asphyxiate...and if not, he would be hard put to shoot through the blinding flames.

Emma did nothing to save Renu, her heart cold and unmoved as she watched him burn.

Three of the new model dropships from Techno Legion flew over the Black Forest. Unlike the main dropships, these were newer, quieter and stealthier designs. Remus had heard of Vaswedes, and the Imperator's fleet recently picked up the strange energy anomaly in the Black Forest. Not wanting to risk the lives of human legionaries, the Imperator decided to send in some AI troops to investigate.
The three craft touched down up the road a distance from the encampment. Legatus REM-24 and three squads of automaton legionaries disembarked. Each squad consisted of 5 automatons. In each squad, three automatons carried regular issue rifles, one carried heavy support and one more for field repairs. 15 units plus the Legatus in all.
The dropships took to the sky and REM-24 signaled for his troops to move out, fanning out among the trees and along the road.
((Hope that wasn't too detailed.))

"Okay you stupid necklace help me out here!" the fire was still licking at him, and the simple thought that this stupid necklace had caused all this trouble in the first place was reason to shoot the damn thing in the first place. He let electricity pulse outward and into the necklace hopefully generating a wall to remove the fire from him. The Necklace was still screaming as it desperately let energy run free to wrap around him in an almost symbiotic shell. It still wasn't enough and he would be damned if he begged for any sense of mercy but still he began to curse the necklace and the voice. "Thanks you stupid thing, whoever the hell you are, your stupid suicide mission is going to be the death of me. You forced me into this nonsense and now I'm dying because of it? God I hate you. I hate you so much!" he sighed and said as the symbiotic shell began to crack "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum."

"Enough." The ink was burning out, being pushed back by the combined energies of Renu's lightning and the necklace...but too late, he was already incapacitated. She had drawn it too thin...and there was no hope of breaking the necklace with the fire now.
With a sigh, another tendril of ink wrapped around the vampire, cloaking even the speck Renu had seen from below from sight.

Something snapped within Emma. The enchantress was near tears with frustration and was tired of fighting.
But she was not giving up.
Merely...trying another tact.

The ink had shifted into a different form, this time a rather small Cooper's hawk. It glided along the thermals, anxious.
Are you alright, Lady Emma?

The sky darkened as Emma threw off the falcon's form, standing on what looked like thin air. Her hair twisted and writhed along with her gown in a wind that only seemed to touch her, and her eyes were full of a cold, distant cruelty.
"Fine. Just fine."

The legionaries walked through the woods, their glowing eyes scanning for movement and heat signatures. The automatons didn't speak to each other, but communicated through silent radio signals. Every few minutes, REM-24 would ask for a status update.
"All squads, report in." REM-24 transmitted.
Team Alpha, negative contact.
Team Bravo, negative contact.
Team Charlie, negative contact.
With that, the legionaries slowly advanced further in, their sensors pinging off the trees and bushes.
