The damp air of the quiet alleys of the underground city was filled with a crazy stillness as many of the residence hide within the stone building for that business or another. Those who were outside and about knew the dangers of standing out, thus clung close to the shadows created by the multistory buildings and away from the main streets. Amongst the moving shadows, one hooded figure slipped past several darker clothed figures who were gathered together. No doubt the group were a bunch of bandits or outlaws doing some sort of illicit trade, but that didn't phase the hooded being as he continued his brisk glide through the alley way till he reached the end of the alley. Glancing at both ends of the empty main street of the sky-less city, the figure made a quick dash across the cobble road and into another road.
Though the figure thought his movements were fast enough to not draw attention onto himself, it was clear however he had caught the unwanted attention of the city watch. Shouts began to erupt behind him, curses mixed with threats about breaking curfew in the underground city. Upon hearing the heavy footsteps approaching quickly behind him, the dark figure hasten his step. It wasn't till the next bend did he halt and realize the error he had made. Before him, he was surrounded by three gray stone walls and behind him, the footsteps of the city guards came closer. Cursing his luck beneath the black mask that covered the lower portion of his face, the hooded figure turned to face the incoming men.
There were four of them, armored in glistening metal chainmail made of the finest mithral smiths. City watch of the Drow City narrowed their hard piercing red eyes upon the figure as the drew their finely crafted longswords from their sheath.
"
You there! There is a curfew in effect in this city! You know the rules!" One of the Drow warriors grunted, his voice deep and firm as he stepped forward to show his authority amongst them all. The other three smiled as they watched the hooded figure step back, lowering its hooded head further down.
"
As well as knowing the rules, you are probably aware of the punishment for breaking the martial law of this fine city of Lloth." this time, the leader smiled as he took another step forward towards the dark figure. Despite the fact the figure shrunk back against the wall and seemingly lowered itself, there was something amiss with the situation. Whoever this dark clothed wanderer was, he didn't display the usual fear other rule breakers had when confronted by the four. Sneering, the leader lunged forward with a downward strike with his sword, not bothering their talks with the hooded being.
Like a wound spring trap, the black cloaked figure sprung into movement, shifting his balance ever so slightly, the hooded figure avoid the downward slash of the guard. As he did such, he raised his head to glare into the surprised guard's red eyes with his own bright blue eyes, an eye color rare amongst their kind. For a moment, time froze, but was quickly back in motion as an open palm exploded forth from beneath the cloaked figure, striking the leader of the guards right into his chest. Despite the mithral chain links, the attack sent a wave of force into the guard's chest, forcing the wind out of him.
Not pausing from his initial movement, the hooded figure then flipped back the other side of his cloak to throw out his other hand. Speeding through the air, three six inch blades of simple design cut through the air and lodged themselves into one of the other awe-struck guards. Two pierced the guard's chest while the third stabbed deep into the man's stomach. The dying cry of the Drow fighter was all that was needed for the other two to snap out of their small trance.
Letting out a small battle cry, the third Drow swordsman rushed forward with a diagonal slash while the fourth, hanging back for a moment, strafed to his partner's left to unleash a forward stab at the cloak figure. Keeping forward with his momentum though, the cloaked shadow managed to cut the distance to the diagonal cut and catch the hilt of the sword on his shoulder. Upon the strike, pain flashed into the hooded figure's head, but the pain was dwarfed by the brief thought of what the sharp blade would of caused. Once more another open palm thrust escaped from the figure onto the warrior's chest as his body twisted in with the attack and avoided the forward stab from the last guard.
Grunting as air escaped his lungs, the Drow warrior stumbled back against the wall as his knees felt weak and eyes water from the lack of oxygen. Unable to do anymore, he watched in silence as his other partner lunged forward with another stab at the shadowy being. With an inhuman grace, the cloaked figure avoided the next stab as he moved forward. With each step forward however, the guard took a step back, well aware of the hooded fighter's palm thrusts.
"
Keep back, you b*****d!" Cursed the swordsman as he then gave a flurry of slashes into the air, keeping the figure at bay. At first, the warrior thought his slashes worked in keeping the mysterious fighter back, but then he realized his attention was back onto their leader, who was finally beginning to collect himself together. "
Come back here!" He then grunted as he lunged forward with a powerful downward chop towards the man's back.
Once more, the fluttering of cloak filled the space the hooded figure once was as he defensively rolled away from the chop, taking a stand to the side as he watched with slight amusement as the sharp blade wedged itself into their leader's skull. On the guard's face, a hundred emotions ran through his mind and projected onto his face as he stood there dumbfound by what just happened. Not bothering to waste anymore time though, the cloaked figure reached into his side and the sound of metal leaving leather echoed the ally as the figure withdrew his average looking rapier.
Tearing his blade away from his leader's skull, the Drow fighter then gave a horizontal slash, aiming to cleave the being right in half. Seeing that his rapier was no match to parry the blade, the dark figure simple ducked and rolled closer to the man, popping up now in front of the awkwardly unbalanced guard. Staring face to face, the guard's eyes widen in horror as he felt the cold blade of the rapier pierce through the fine mithral links of his armor and through his flesh. While they looked upon each other, the rapier wielding fighter expressed no emotion. His blue eyes matched that of cold ice as he then pulled his thin blade weapon from out the swordsman stomach.
Finally catching wind and able to stand a little better, the lone guard surveyed the death around him, disturbed a little as their leader's body twitched slightly from the head trauma.
"
By Lloth...You will be pu-punished for this!" The Drow muttered, mustering what courage he had in him to make a defensive posture with his sword. It was then the figure lowered his hood to reveal his short neatly cut platinum hair, ebony skin and piercing blue eyes; showing he himself was that of a Drow. Sheathing his rapier, the man glanced over to the two closest dead bodies to him and then onto the lone city watch.
"Are you sure about that?" And with that, the side of his cloak flipped open as two daggers flew out of black gloved hand and straight into the Drow's neck and forehead.
