Joseph the untidy hmm... Tamlin thought. "perhaps the market would be better." Following the woman's line of sight back towards Baptiste and blushed to her ears. "what! him! oh no he isn't mine, well. we live together, but nothing of THAT sort. Botanicals, you say?" She was quick to change the subject. "What kind?"

With a mewl of surprise, Baptiste quickly puts his arms around Alais to keep her from falling. "Aye, I know you're hungry, you said it only a moment ago," he says, attempting to dislodge her from his hair. "Hey, hey, that hurts, you tiny imp!" he exclaims. He certainly hopes Tamlin gets back soon.

"not Imp! Alais!" She insisted, holding Baptiste's hair even more firmly. he always upset her. her piercing blue eyes stared at him with surprising firmness for a child; daring him to object to her claim.

Ziva's eyebrows lift with surprise. "You seemed terribly offended when you caught him making eyes at Guillermo's lovely daughter. But of course it is none of my business." She opens her satchel. "I have oils and draughts for whatever you may desire. One for luck, one for love, one for health. If you can think of it, I have it."

"Alright, yes. Alais." He shifts his hold on her to make both of them more comfortable. He isn't used to her...understanding him. "Ow! Look, if I give you something else will you quit pulling my hair?"

"I... perhaps over-reacted. but he was being a dolt" Tamlin firmly believed that. "luck you say" I could use some of that, what with these banyas cackling bad fortune at an alarming rate "....and love." she stole a momentary glance back toward Baptiste then reverted her eyes hoping no one noticed. "could be useful" she mused. "What say you" she asked of the man standing near. "these oils, do they really work?"

Alais let go of Baptiste's hair and settled into his lap while considering his offer. "You give shiny?" She concluded that a shiny would be better then food for the immediate present.

Ulo nods sincerely. "Ziva doesn't lie," he says shortly.

"You must pardon Ulo. He is not much of a talker, though he deals in rumors. What say you?"

He'd been about to offer her a sweet, but if something shiny would pacify her better...

He pulls a shell he'd found by the river from his pocket. The outside is smooth and white, and the inside is pearlescent. "This is a fragile shiny. You must be gentle with it, alright?" He offers it to Alais.

"alright then, my thanks" Tamlin smiled at the man and paused before replying to Ziva. "I, I have very little money, but perhaps if they were very small vials. How much to procure a bit of love and luck?" Luck would certainly be helpful to anyone right now and love, well love has many ways to show itself.

Alais solemnly takes up the shell in her small hands. Bringing it up close to her face to inspect thoroughly she frowns as she looks it over. Suddenly she breaks into a grin "Shiny!" she says, happily accepting her new treasure.

"Mmm," she says, calculating quickly. "Normally I sell these things for twenty couplets a vial. Magic is not inexpensive, you understand. However, since I know how hard gypsy life is...I could perhaps see my way into giving you a vial of ginger honey--that is for luck--and a vial of rose oil--for love--for twenty couplets together."

Baptiste watches the spritely little thing examine the shell, a slow smile crawling onto his face. Perhaps she isn't so bad after all. "So, are we friends now?" he asks. "Alais?"

"Oh! Wonderful!" Tamlin bubbled, she hadn't actually expected to be able to afford such trivial splurges. She handed over the coins "Thank you so much for being understanding. I hope you have good business in turn for your kindness"

"friend?" Alais asked quizzically, cocking her head askew as she pondered the word. "shiny is friend?" it was quite clear she was uncertain of the situation although she was still greatly captivated by the bright, little shell.

Ziva smiles behind her veil. "Do enjoy them. The ginger honey must be consumed, and the rose oil worn as a perfume." She takes the couplets and bows her head slightly to Tamlin. "Have a safe journey."

"Oh, so you're only articulate when I insult you, is that it?" he says to himself, chuckling. He keeps a steadying arm around her as she continues to inspect the shell he'd given her.

"Thank you." Tam says gratefully after tucking the two vials away in her pouch. Turning away she decided perhaps the best solution for Alais would be to just take her back to the wagon and feed her there. Cheaper too

Walking back towards the table where Baptiste and Alais were sitting she nearly tripped over something though. After catching herself on a nearby table she looked back and saw it was a man on the floor she had fallen over. "pardon me sir, I didn't see you there. I didn't mean to hit you."

Grabbing a hold of a loose strand of hair again Alais frowned at Baptiste. "I say what I want now."

Roggan looks up. "D'you know where it is?" he demands desperately. "My medallion...'ve lost it...the lady, she'll kill me!"

"Alright, alright! I'm sorry!" exclaims Baptiste, trying to extricate her from his hair, and wondering how a toddler knew what 'articulate' meant.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I know where it is. Where did you last see it? Perhaps she won't be angry if you start looking for it." Tamlin tried to offer words that would perhaps console the man. This was not what she had expected after apologizing for falling over some man on the floor. But then perhaps this was not a very normal situation after all she reflected.

"I saw it last by the river," he practically wails, and then frantically resumes scouring the tavern floor.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:55 pm

"ummm, was it by the bank near the village? If so, why are you looking in here? I doubt it will be found in the cider house sir, do you want help to get back to look by the river? I'm heading that way myself if you would like help." Tamlin looked back over towards Baptiste and Alais. Well, he seemed to have her well in hand. or vis versa. He could see to her and get them both back to the wagon.

"It was dark outside when I lost it, an' the light's better in here!" He sighs, glancing around himself again. "It's an ol' coin on a chain, made o' bronze..."
