Lee looked aside and chuckled for a moment, assuming that, because he added the "now" in there, he meant he liked having her around now that they didn't have to hold themselves back. "I bet..." Lee smirked up at him, nodding at his question.

Tilting her head and stepping closer, she looked down. "Well... it's like you said before. People're afraid of what they dun understand. It's really terrible of me to say, but... I'm kinda lucky. If other girls weren't afraid of you, I'd never've had a chance..." Lee looked down, laughing and meaning for it to be somewhat of a joke.

"Aye, you would've had a chance," Rory said softly, stroking her hair. "I'm th' one tha' would've been left out in th' cold if you hadnae moved t' Farstep. If you were still in your world, livin' your rich life an' gaen t' your fancy schools, you prolly wouldnae noticed me. Honestly, I donnae think I would've seen you either. You're here, though, wi' me, and tha's plenty t' be thankful fae."

"After tha's all done, I can show you th' market here or, if you want, w' can gae fae a ride on Kettle. I think I still owe you a picnic."

"You do, don't you?" Smiling as they walked, Lee debated what they should do. While she really did need a tour of the market, they still hadn't eaten yet today. "Picnic, please."

"W' can buy some sandwiches an' juice t' take along, then," Rory said, nodding. They arrived at a small building, one of the few permanent buildings on the fairgrounds. "Here w' are." He opened the door for her, then followed her in. "Just tell them you want t' set up a savin's an' they'll count up th' money an' all tha' fae you. They'll also gi' you a little book t' keep track in, too. Tell them you want all your pay t' go in th' account an' just keep some cash out on hand now, an' then use letters o' credit around th' carnival. It's just like money, but you donnae hae t' worry about keepin' track o' it as much, so long as you write what you spend down an' write what you get paid down." He looked at her. "Did tha' all just confuse you? They explain it better than I do."

"No, I think I got it actually." She smiled and nodded back to the boy. Somehow, she seemed to understand complicated things better when they involved money. Stepping up to what she assumed was someone who worked there, she set the leather bag on the counter. "I need to open an account." She spoke in her business tone, her posture improving slightly as she folded her hands together and tilted her head.

The person at the counter smiled. "You're new here, eh? Come over t' th' desk an' we'll get you all set up." They led Lee off with the pouch to set up her account.
Rory went back outside for a bit to wait for her, wanting to work on the fox carving more.

Heading back, it took a long while before they finished, and Lee stepped out of the building with a significantly lighter pouch and a small smile. Stepping next to Rory, her smile widened, and she didn't look directly at him as she spoke. "Almost three hundred dollars..." She'd kept some of the money out, as Rory had advised.

"Well, he's your da now, kinda. It's only natural he wants t' help you out," Rory said, finishing the carving of the fox. He held it up for Lee to see. "Whatcha think, eh?"

It would definitely take some used to, calling Keagan "dad". It didn't help that she hardly ever called her actual father "dad", but perhaps it would get easier the more she saw him. "It's so cute..." Lee's eyes brightened, her smile fading simply out of awe.
