Mizu giggled too and then glanced sidelong around the room. "Maybe we should begin?" she suggested softly. She didn't want either Tora or herself to get in trouble for talking instead of practicing.

Kikaru delicately sat herself down on side of the table, resting her hands in her lap. She took a deep breath, then looked to her partner, wondering why she was so quiet.

Makoto hurried to the class room. She breath heavily as she entered but closed her mouth not wanting the others to hear her heavy panting.
"Gomen Sensei, I am new, I am Makoto Kofuhara of the Hinohasu Okiya I am to be starting my lessons as of today."
She bowed her head low, her hair falling past her shoulders covering her face, flowing back behind her as she lifted her head.

mistalina13 "Hai." Kikaru nodded to Rune. "..though, I don't believe I've met, what is your name?" She asked the other maiko as she moved to get up and go over to a table. ((sorry for the absent busy)) "my name is Rune" Rune said heading to the table and sitting down "and yours?" Rune asked politely

((Bosoi work with PrincessRyoko))
"Yes, please take a seat now at an empty table then Matoko, see if you can look thru someones notes and pay close attention so you catch up. Is everyone ready? We are going to practice our introductions. Choose between yourselves who is the maiko and who is the patron. I want you to bow, say your name, beg indulgence, then, because we are pretending you have passed the novice maiko stage, we will begin to practive pouring sake in a proper fashion. First though, practice your bowing and introductions. Remember, DO NOT put pressure on your hands, and dont stick your elbows out so you look like a bird."

"Hai Sensei."
Makoto took one my bow and made her way to her seat, with the rest of the class, taking in the lesson plan, she was already worried about it, she wanted to make a good impression.

kairisesshy ...DO NOT put pressure on your hands, and dont stick your elbows out so you look like a bird." Ao-sagi almost jumped at the bird-comment. Look, the crane is wading through the paddy!Kami, how often had she heard that comment about her awkward long limbs... She looked at Momo with questioning eyes. Shall i begin? Then she bowed before her comrade, keeping her elbows tucked in as tightly as she could. She straightened up again and introduced herself, speaking in a low, but not hushed voice: "It is our pleasure to have you here, honored guest. My name is Ao-sagi. I am a but a lowly maiko from Kanenokikyou okiya and thus beg your indulgence. It is both a great honour and delight for me to attend to you tonight." When she was finished, she bowed again. She had practiced that phrase often, but could not help stumbling over the word "indulgence"... And the brains of a bird, too. She sighed inwardly.

Makoto watched as Ao-sagi practiced. She wanted to take up as much information and as many repeats as possible before her own turn. In her mind she practiced posture, stance and what she must say, in her head it went over and over again, wanting everything to be perfect on her frist day of class.

Makoto nodded her head to returner as she took her turn at the serving. She kept her back straight until she begain pouring trying to keep her elbows in thinking to herself 'don't be a bird, don't be a bird' she looked up to her partner started her speach, she bowed her head low, her voice soft but not in a whisper
"Hello...I mean, It is our pleasure to have you here, honored guest. My name is Makoto. I am a but a lowly maiko from Hinohasu okiya and thus beg your indulgence. It is both a....great honour and delight for me to attend to you tonight." She then bowed her head again, mentally kicking herself for the lines she forgot.
She looked up to her partner then glaced at the teacher wondering what she would say.

Kyoku drifted over to Makoto.
"Good for your first time, you rephrase the introduction to suit you as long as the meaning remains. Now when you bow, your elbow should be bent slightly, so that your hands are just infront on your head, like this." Kyoku bowed low to the floor, her head just a few inches above the tatami mats, the tips of her fingers perfectly straight, but the palms lifted off the tatami.
"Now" She sat up "The reason you dont put pressure on your hands is so that they look soft and smooth, instead of tense."

Makoto watched closely taking in every detail she looked up at the teacher with a nod:
"Yes Ma'am"
Makoto said repeating the bow, being sure she kept her plams off the mat but her fingers straight out and poised.
"How was that?"
