So strange, well at least it seemed to be. The vast desert was still all new to the Arrancar. After all she had only been ‘born’ a while ago and was still growing accustomed to the world. With a silent sigh the woman looked around her too see nothing and no one for miles on end; nothing but the sand dancing with the wind. Now that she thought about it, it was rather silly for her to be out here, alone. But it wasn’t as silly as she thought, her mind was clearing of all thoughts and it seemed like she was finally able to accept this new life. Scooping her hands into the sand she lifted them with a large pile resting in her palms. It was cold and the grains only tickled her hands as they slid off her fingers. Everything was cold, the ground the air and her own body. Sadly her body wasn’t cold from the wind; her body was now naturally cold. So dreary out here. Gloomy, really.

But still she sat on the cold sandy ground staring off into space like someone who had lost their mind. She wasn’t sure how long she had been sitting, or when she had decided to sit. But she knew she wasn’t planning on leaving anytime soon. With a gaze to the sky she fell onto her back keeping her eyes on the wide sky. It was the most beautiful thing she had seen since the opening of her eyes. A gust of wind blew over her throwing her red locks into her face. She had no real intention of moving her hair; after all she could still see the moon. But another gale pushed sand into the young woman causing her to bolt up. Ouch, it’s in my eyes. Rubbing her eyes she rested her chest on her knees. It was strange, all of a sudden her body felt tired. With a muted yawn the girl’s body went limp. All energy had escaped the newborn. Falling back on the ground one again she let her eyelids cover her vision, maybe a nap would sooth her weary body. So strange…

Tosigo had been walking for what seemed like an eternity, though his didn't bother him. He reached the top of a rather tall dune, and looking down, saw a number beings gathered in the sands near a building that was so massive that it had been in his sights for last five days. Granted, he had walked at a slow pace that entire time, and Tosigo had never really paid any attention to the uniform landscape that was his home. Continuing to walk, he approached the leader, a female that he had heard to go by the name of Jes. Knowing that she was above him, he deferred to her.

"Jes-sama. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tosigo Yuudoku. I had heard tales of you and this place, Las Noches, from the furthest reaches of this place. I come to seek others like me, a home, a family, as it were. It gets terribly lonely out there when the few beings you meet are your dinner."

"What makes you think you're worthy to join my..." Jes smiled coldly at the word. "Family?"

Her identity was certainly no secret and many sought her out with the same sort of request. Always, she was hounded by arrancar of varying levels, begging, bullying, cajoling, always jockeying for a position in the ranks of arrancar whom she commanded. More often than not she ignored them or killed them for their insolence. Luckily, she was in a nearly complacent mood. Neither angry nor hungry, so was of no immediate threat to the arrancar before her. Still, her moods were variable. There was no telling when her temper would flair.

"A thousand arrancar want what you're asking. Homes. Families. Las Noches is neither. We're allies of convenience, nothing more. We band together because that makes us uniformly powerful. Don't fool yourself into thinking companionship is what you'll find in our fortress, but if it's power you seek then you've found your place," She continued, waxing a bit lyrically. It was rare she ever stopped long enough to speak to the common arrancar, but she was willing to spend the time to do so once in a while.

[Even though she's acting like a high and mighty you-know-what, this isn't a reflection of how *I* think of your character ^^]

Tosigo smiled coldly at Jes's response. As she continued, his thin lipped smile grew ever tighter, until she finished, and his face snapped back to it's original, neutral position.

"I didn't think you would go for the... well, weak, introduction, at least I hopped so. Still, I had to try, to insure that I wasn't wasting my time. Quite frankly, after so long by myself, loneliness means little to me. Curiosity brought me here, and strength is my both my offering and my quest. I doubt you care why I desire power, and I honestly care less to tell you."

Tosigo knew he was taking a gamble approaching her like this, but he was being honest, and wasn't going to risk trying to mask his personality only to have her call him out.

((Staying true to character, that's what I like. ^_^))

Jes crossed her arms, appraising the newcomer with a jaundiced eye. He was quite tall and pale, but then, so was she. She could see that he was well-muscled, but she'd seen bigger biceps in her day. The feature that vaguely interested her was his eyes. They were yellow with slit pupils, giving him the appearance of a cat or a snake. Given his appearance, Jes was inclined to believe the latter.

"What's your name?" Jes wanted to know. She didn't recognize him and she had been present for many of Aizen's awakenings, always keeping an eye out for those who could be powerful enough to become Espada. "You aren't one of Aizen's creations, are you?"

"Tosigo Yuudoku. And no, I am not a creation of this... Aizen. I am my own god. I ripped off my own mask, though I can not say when or why. All I know is that of the few Arrancar that I have met before now, everyone of them was hardly stronger than an average Adjuchas class Hollow." Tosigo paused a moment, showing a small smile and licking his teeth with his forked silver tongue.
"They were quite delicious."

Jes raised a slender eyebrow, betraying a brief spark of interest in an otherwise smooth, emotionless face. It was a flicker of feeling that could easily go unnoticed if unfamiliar with Jes's mannerisms. She was not one to show an excess of any feeling.

The concept of a natural arrancar was intriguing to her. The idea that a high-level hollow had been sentient enough (or perhaps foolish enough) to rip off his own mask was foreign to her, though that made it all the more interesting and appealing. Already, she could understand and appreciate the difference between them. Although she had been "freed" by Aizen, Jes instinctively felt that Tosigo was freer than she would ever be. He owed no debt to Aizen, owed nobody his allegiance. Jes found herself almost jealous of the silver-tongued arrancar.

"You ripped off your own mask?" Jes was not one to repeat simple ideas. That she did so now was a testament to how Tosigo had piqued her interest. He seemed like a beneficial asset to Las Noches. "I think we can help each other, Tosigo. You see, while the desert only offers so many mediocre hollows, I guarantee you will find yourself among more challenging opponents within Las Noches's walls,"

Tosigo smiled with thin lips, his scars exaggerating the gesture. "Yes, I ripped it off. It was excruciating."
Looking at the colossal structure before him, he said, "Las Noches... I can practically feel the power residing there in the air. I... thank you for your invitation. Now, how is that I, a wild Arrancar, help you, a sophisticated and powerful being?" Tosigo's voice was soft, though he put no energy in trying to use his ability at persuasion, he knew that being on the good side of the one in charge was always a good thing. Who knew? Maybe it something good would come of it, and it wasn't like he was lying, or even exaggerating.

"So that silver tongue isn't merely for show," Jes responded dryly, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "I imagine I'll find some use for you. For now, make your home in Las Noches. If you're not devoured by a more powerful being, do seek me out some time. I believe I could use you once you've shown me you're usable,"

With that, Jes turned on her heel, clearly expecting Tosigo to follow. It spoke to her arrogance and surety in her power that she didn't watch her back against an unknown arrancar. Still, if she did not portray a certain measure of pride and confidence, she would never win the support of those over whom she ruled. Although Aizen, with his two shinigami subordinates Gin and Tosen, seemed to be the one in charge of Las Noches, it was Jes to whom most arrancar looked as a leader. It pained her to be answerable to the shinigami at all, but she exercised a good deal of freedom. And Aizen would not rule her forever. Of that, she was quite certain.

Tosigo arched his left eyebrow ever so slightly, but said nothing. He followed, but showed no sign of being a follower. He was infinitely curious about the shinigami in charge, Aizen and his two subordinates, Gin and Tousen, though he did not have great deal of respect for them beyond that of persons of a high level of power.
Tosigo did, however, have a high level of respect for the Arrancar leading him. It took a great deal of power to lead any group, and more so a group as... wild, for lack of a better term, as the Arrancars. And this female reeked of confidence, and seeing as she wasn't dead, this meant that she must be quite powerful indeed. Fear was not something that Tosigo was familiar beyond that of a basic survival instinct, and he did not fear this Arrancar, as he suspected many did. But he was not arrogant either, believing falsely that he would be easily superior. If that turned out to be the case, so be it. But Tosigo had no desire to be at the top. Actually, he wasn't really all that sure what he wanted, and vices were what Hollow and Arrancar alike were known for.
Continuing to walk, Tosigo took in his surroundings, his mind effortlessly cataloging his environment and the placements of everything there in, and went through the trouble to doubly remember Jes's reiatsu, appearance, scent, everything. One never knew how much they might need to know about their superiors.
