Okay, for the Battle of Yavin, we are doing... well... The battle of Yavin.
I don't know how much you guys know or not, but after the DS blew up, the Empire tried to destroy the rebels on Yavin. The Rebels hadn't had enough time to fully prep for evac, and were caught off guard. Hence, Emerald Squadron and Ruby Squadron are supposed to make sure we buy the transports enough time to make the jump to hyperspace.
Think about the mission Revenge of the Empire or just the first mission on RS3.
Basically that...

so we'd have to leave dantooine...for some reason. why would they move the base to yavin?

i think there wawas an offficial reason..anyone have a copy of Dark Tide Onslaught handy? I think it was in there.
Or we could just say that...err..we didnt want to disturb the Dantari?

Yavin was also well hidden. The temples were natural figures, and a base inside woud be well hidden compared to Dantooine.
AT least, that's my theory.

Wookieepedia says that shelter could only be found ina few remote ranches. Still cant be used cuz civilization on Yavin 4 was just in the temples...interesting. I just searched Yavin 4 in wookieepedia and.. Wookieepedia The Rebels established their base in the ancient Massassi ruins found in its lush jungles following the destruction of their previous base on the planet Dantooine. The Imps obviously didnt know about Dantooine, and none of us know who destroyed it, so we can either skip that, or blame it on raiding Dantari?

We'll just say that Imperial forces were getting too suspiciously close, and the dantari were unreliable allies, so we evac and move to Yavin. I plan on being on Yavin in 2 months. After the Battle of Yavin, we upgrade our ships to X-wings as well.

Yes... Though I'm going to make some missions split between x and y, and maybe one or two that demand only y... mainly bombing missions or use of an ion cannon.

nah. The X and Y both have the same cockpit configuration... maybe for Dantooine I'll come up with a mission that we could steal or borrow them from a base, but not really..

Stealing is fun.
Crap, Im gonna wake up in the morn, struggle to get ready jump on the comp and catch up on the RPs and then haul away untoil 3ish my time. And after tomorrow, im gonna need to be puppeted for 4 days most likely on EmSquad...or maybe i can say i was detained for questioning on that fight..

Regarding the Dantooine matter, one could say that whenever the Imperial scouts showed up snooping around, Em Squad and co. pretty much bugged out of there once they were detected.
