Event for SailorM4ev!!

.:: [ . EVENT FOR EASTER . ] ::.

User Image As the group approached the riot near the Marsalles district, Egan began stirring. People all around yelled, cursed, and spat at the soldiers protecting the supply convoy. The air was dense with tension and bloodlust on both sides.

The child on Easter's back began twisting wildly, obviously stirred by the violent passion and emotion of the crowd. It seemed as though he was trying to free himself from his master.

Suddenly, a male voice, hot with anger and indignation, spoke in Easter's mind: "Will you do nothing while these human hearts are filled with vile emotions? Release me! I won't allow this to continue."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 30, 2009 11:04 am

Easter followed tentatively along behind the group, and heard the ruckus long before it came into view. Not long after getting close enough to the crowd to truly appreciate the horrible state of things in this city then Egan started to fuss. 'Calm down! Is something wro-' Before she could finish her thought the familiar voice called out to her. 'Do something? What can you or I do?' Afraid of Egan falling, Easter backed away towards a secluded bit of wall and untied the infant. She knelt down with him and set him on the ground but kept her hands near him lest he try and run into the riot and be lost. No longer worried that people would hear her above the din Easter addressed her charge directly. "What's wrong Egan?"

Egan slipped from Easter's hold, almost as though he was trying to push away from her. Already the child began to emit an unearthly glow that attracted the attention of one or two nearby people. The child's limbs began stretching unnaturally, as though they were made of something other than flesh. His clothing seemed possessed by the same power, pulled in different directions by a miniature cyclone centered around the boy. In less than a minute, the radiance around his body died away, and he rose on his own legs. When his eyes met Easter's, they were cold and critical.

Egan as a Child

.: [ Egan (Child) ] :.

[ Physical Traits ]

Two triangle-shaped markings, much like tattoos, sit below Egan's eyes. The horns on his head are blunt and sturdy, similar to the developing horns of a young stag. Around his neck is a string of large wooden beads, which seem to have religious significance. He always exhibits a cool, indifferent expression on his face.

[ Personality and Behavior ]

Although he seems a little distant from other people, even his master, Egan has a generous and attentive nature. He is careful about sharing the things that he owns, and shows obvious annoyance at people who are stingy and greedy.

He views selfishness as a form of injustice that must be rebuked and punished. In fact, he is terribly intolerant of all kinds of violations of laws and ethics. Egan watches the actions of others with a critical eye. This can be especially trying given the current circumstances of Wynander, where lying, cheating, and stealing are prevalent. If he notices somebody breaking the rules of proper conduct, he does not hesitate to accuse them of wrongdoing. During games with other children, he views himself as a policeman who must enforce the rules of fair play.

When speaking to Easter, Egan addresses his master using the word, "Miss."

[ Relics ]

User Image

Egan carries a string of sandalwood prayer beads. This string consists of 108 beads, and is held together by the black hair of a woman. In the evenings, he will find a place to sit alone in silence, moving his fingers along the beads as he meditates. When he is not using them, he wraps the beads several times around his wrist to form a tight bracelet.

[ Spell List ]

[ * ] Endure
Description: Once per conflict, Egan can utilize the power of his prayer beads to withstand a fatal attack. If Egan receives a deathblow or strike that would render him unconscious, he will be able to remain conscious and standing. However, he will still suffer from severe injuries. If he receives a second blow, he will then pass out; or, depending on the severity, potentially die.

Easter stared in disbelief for a while. Even though she'd witnessed something similar to this not that long ago, she hadn't expected Egan to change so abruptly as well. Where her small companion had been was now a large child staring right at her level. Amber eyes meeting amber eyes. "Egan... You got bigger." "Yes, Miss." The commotion from Egan's sudden glow-spurt had attracted a miniature crowd. "Did you see that?" "Monster!" "Grab it! It must be worth something!" Easter wrapped the blanket she'd once carried Egan in around him like a cloak and pulled him close. "Stay close to me!" Sprinting sideways to avoid the clawing arms Easter hoped Egan was swift on his feet. Not for the first time, Easter's small stature allowed her the chance to escape where most would not fit and the two disappeared amongst the jostling, violent rioters.

While Alaina felt the trio behind her the entire way she walked, she couldn't help but wonder what the noise was coming from just above the riot only feet in front of her. Not that she cared about what the trio did, said or thought, but their was a child with an infant behind her as well.

Turning around, she heard the concerned words of the "mother" and looked as the infant slipped from it's caretakers hold. Oh god, again?! As the child writhed and flailed, he began to grow and become .. larger, less chubby. Wow.

Alaina noticed a group gawking at the child and as they began to approach, she stepped in front of one, "You'd better back the ******** off if you know what's good for you." For christ sakes, they were both kids. Not like she cared, but she didn't want the poor kid to get bombarded. Besides, if she knocked these people out, that's more chances at her getting some food.

The tiny traveling group hadn't even managed to make it into Marsalles before the sights, sounds, and smells of the pandemonium caused by the riot caught the Chou trio's senses. Miaka, distressed by all that was going on around her, clutched tighter onto the grip she had on her Master's hand. Moments prior, Hikari had offered to lift the tiny girl and carry her, but the child had declined the offer, insisting on walking on her own. It was once they were in the heart of the madness, that Hikari found her control on the situation lost.

One moment the green haired child that they'd been traveling with had disappeared from her sight, and the next, she was fighting a sea of people, trying to push her way against the crowds. The child was small! She was going to get trampled on! Despite Miaka's light protests, Hikari bent down and scooped the child back into her arms, so she didn't end with the same fate and scanned the crowds. Even as she searched for the female child, she was being pushed in the opposite direction. She could barely see another crowd forming, and their faint screams met her ears. Her stomach lurched.

She turned back around, ready to tell her sister they needed to assist the child, when she realized the other Chou was gone, as well. "Yami?" She questioned, panicked. How'd her and Miaka gotten separated from everyone else?!

Faevan
To her, it seemed like an hour had passed while she waited, but finally he turned away to speak to another guard. Fae pulled back her arm and let the piece of brick fly.

An elderly man sat atop one of the supply carts, concentrating on the backs of his horses as they were led to the Marsalles Estates. Sweat collected in the ridges of his wrinkled brow. Thankfully, the soldiers on either side of him were enthusiastic about their work, keeping that wretched mob away from his precious cargo. He was lucky to be given this position; he had served the Becque family dutifully for years, even prior to Sehket's appearance.

Just as he was praying for protection, his skull was struck by a hard object. His vision blurred, and then consciousness escaped him.

The horses began to stray off the set path, obviously terrified by the angry noises around them. A soldier looked up to see that the driver had collapsed. He gave a shout to another soldier, but the crowd had already been set off.

A barrage of trash, stones, and insults were hurled at the convoy. The horses pushed further off course, and then the crowd spilled forward like a dangerous wave, crashing against the cart of supplies. Soldiers worked quickly to hack at the bodies around them, but they were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of people rushing forward. An additional set of security forces, employed specifically for taking care of this type of incident, moved towards the attacked cart, cutting into the crowd indiscriminately.

Adalei clung even more closely to Elliot's size, dizzy from the noise and energy of the people around her. She watched in horror as women threw up their arms, screaming in terror before being cut open. The soldiers were now swinging with frenzied passion into the crowd, slaying people who were obviously trying to escape. People ran everywhere like a swarm of bees, some trying to get away from the bloodthirsty soldiers, others taking their chance to grab supplies from the caravan.

"Haven't you had enough?" Adalei cried out to her companion. "This is too much, I don't want to be here anymore!"

Without speaking, Elliot led her through the thick mob of people, back away from the main street where people still tested the line of soldiers. Adalei pushed and twisted until she had made it towards a side-street with less people. However, as she began looking around, slow dread spread in her chest: Elliot was no longer with her.

Traugott had remained semi-peacefully outside the main mob, occasionally being run-into or shoved by someone ridiculously smaller than himself. He had to leave, he thought. There was so much screaming and death and danger, he couldn't remain here if he didn't want to be the victim of a badly-aimed arrow or errant sword swing. Grabbing the handle of his cart tightly, he began to work his way through the crowd toward Kensington, receiving inexplicable cuts and bruises in the mob.

He made it quite near to the gate when he felt a strange jostle, and his car begin to tilt hard to one side. He turned, fearing the worst, and found a small group of urchins raiding him for his wares. One small hand clasped around the necklace the strange boy had gotten before, and Trau's heart stopped.

That was his living, and these people were stealing from him!

"HEY!" he yelped, and those who had managed to get their hands on a sword or trinket or a massive armful in one case went sprinting down the road. Trau abandoned his nearly-empty cart, shoving it into an alleyway out of the way as he hobbled after the theives. He could run for perhaps 10 seconds, and then his back and legs began to protest, and it turned into a slow hobble. The crowd began to close around him as he approached the main mob again, and he slowed, face completely hopeless. Who knew how much money he had just lost? He wanted to say "good for them". They needed the money more than he did, certainly, but for some reason, he only felt thick loss.

Giving a frustrated roar, he turned and began to swim his way back through the crowd, receiving a stone to the temple and, for a moment, struggling with consciousness. He had to get back to his cart. He had to save whatever was left.

It was then he spotted the massacre against a far supply cart that seemed to have trailed away from the others. He stared in horror as people ran by him, some intent on attacking the guards and others rushing for the now less-guarded carts.

Good lord, the world had gone insane.

Fae's throw was even better than Kaley had hoped for, the chaos of the cart ahead of her going wild and the sudden surge of bodies towards those guards caused the line to collapse as the press of bodies went right to her and beyond. Of course she coldly and callously hacked away at bodies, a couple however slipped by her. She twisted and reached for one of them, her arm going wide for a moment as a needle flicked out of a hiding place in her bracer and stabbed down, poison-tip first into the cart driver's leg.

Kaley gasped as she grabbed the person nearest the cart driver and threw them back easily, stabbing them as they hit the ground and in the chaos, dropping the poisoned needle down near their hand. The blade was back out and into the side of the next victim to be levered and shoved back into the other bodies pressing in. The slaughter went on after that like normal, assured that the cart driver of the second cart would not survive much longer with a potent, and deadly poison running through his veins.

Rabid Ice Weasel

Giving a frustrated roar, he turned and began to swim his way back through the crowd, receiving a stone to the temple and, for a moment, struggling with consciousness. He had to get back to his cart. He had to save whatever was left.

It was then he spotted the massacre against a far supply cart that seemed to have trailed away from the others. He stared in horror as people ran by him, some intent on attacking the guards and others rushing for the now less-guarded carts.

Good lord, the world had gone insane.

The child had managed to snatch up a few precious trinkets before escaping the man that guarded them. With expert agility, he slipped between the legs of adults and back into an alleyway, clutching the items to his beating breast. As he rose from the ground, a hooded figure, who seemed to have been waiting for him, stood within an arm's reach of him. The stranger bent forward, and the breath the boy felt on his cheeks was so chilled that he was momentarily stunned.

"Pretty brave of you, stealing from a mighty giant like that," the stranger said. "You ought to be careful about what you steal, though. You might not be clever enough to get away with it every time."

After delivering his advice, the stranger turned, leaving the child stupefied and dizzy.

[ . . . ]

Elliot's eyes targeted the giant ahead of him. People were so caught up in their own emotions that they hardly noticed the hooded figure weaving its way through the crowd. The Actor had tucked the decorated locket into one pocket, carrying a handful of other jewelry in his hand. When he was close enough, he slipped the stolen goods into the pocket of Trau, who'd surely notice the small objects as they had grown as cold as ice.

Without speaking a word to the smith, Elliot turned back into the crowd, hoping that Adalei hadn't suffered from too much anxiety during his absence.

Traugott had been so very involved in watching the slaughter against his will, he felt the trinkets only as they weighed heavy in his pocket. He glanced down and touched the new weight with his fingertips, drawing away suddenly at the cold. He glanced around, looking for who might have returned the objects (how strange!). Seeing no one, he turned back to the slaughter and, possibly encompassed by some sort of mass hysteria, hefted a large rock and threw it hard at the supply cart.

The sea of bodies that Hikari was already fighting against seemed to grow in strength and numbers as a woman beside her shrieked in her ear. The blood curdling sound had her turning around, aimlessly, once again, in time to see a driver fall from a caravan, and then, almost immediately the pulsing bodies pressed, harder, faster, to the center of the madness. The guards ahead of her were over powered effortlessly, yet refused to go down fighting. Swinging swords and weapons, felling those who came too close.

Her stomach twisted as the mob moved closer and closer and she turned back around, wishing she could claw her way through the masses. She wanted to cry. Despite her efforts she couldn’t seem to make leeway. The bodies kept bashing her forward, closer and closer to the massacre that was occurring. Idly, her mind told her if she hadn’t picked up Miaka already, she might have died. The thought was pushed away, in her terror though, as sweat beaded on her forehead and slid down her temple.

She turned her head and saw that she was impossibly close to the food wagon. Wasn’t this what she had wanted in the first place? To get food? Meat? Clean water, maybe? It was, but she hadn’t thought this through, at all, and now she- and her other- stood a good chance of being cleaved through. Where was her sister? Where was Yami?

The young girl could feel death hanging over the air, thick and suffocating. The sorrow, the fear, the distress of the masses were overwhelming the girl and she whimpered slightly, clinging tighter to her Master. Who was, even more distressingly, upset. What was going on, exactly? Why were they hurting each other, so terribly? Why wouldn’t it stop? Why were they upsetting her Master?

She didn’t like this place, at all. A tiny hand reached up and tapped a cheek, but the doe eyes of the owner didnt look down at her. “Master?” She questioned, shakily, scared, and yet- some how soothing. She wanted to make her Master feeling better, despite the chaos that was going around them. If only she were a bit bigger...

The cart driver noticed a pinch in his leg, looking down to see a soldier right beside him. As he opened his mouth to yell at her, he felt his throat clench, and then his muscles began to shudder uncontrollably. His eyes glazed before he fell over the side of the cart. Without his confident hand on the reigns, the horses of this cart began to deviate off the path as well.

A soldier, noticing the empty wagon seat, ran to grab onto the reigns, attempting to stop a second cart from going off course. However, just as the man felt he was gaining some sort of control over the situation, he heard a new uproar at the front of the train of wagons.

A tangle of bodies rushed another cart as a large stone apparently had broken through the side of one wooden wagon.

Trau pumped his fist triumphantly. He would undoubtedly regret it later, but for now the poor had a chance to take what might as well be theirs. It was a dog eat dog world out here, insane or not, and everyone deserved a chance to survive!

The peaceful district of Kensington lay ahead as Adalei continued her brisk pace. Passing beneath the shadow of Vision Tower, she kept her blonde head well-concealed under her thin shawl. She breathed a sigh as her feet met safe ground, though her heart still ached in Elliot's absence.

She convulsed as someone's arm suddenly slipped around her shoulder, then relaxed as she felt the familiar coolness of Elliot's skin. Biting back tears, Adalei began to berate him just as he tightened the clasp of a chain around her neck, Trau's locket hanging at the end of it.

"You--!!"" she started, her face hot with anger. "I told you, I don't need anymore of these things! So this is why--" She stumbled over the words, frustration obviously getting the better of her. "I can't believe you! How could you do this to me?"

Elliot ran his fingers through her hair. Though he maintained his usual smile, his customarily unreadable eyes seemed somehow cooler.

"Let's get under cover," he said. "Look, that place looks like it could be fun." He pointed at a large building ahead, the sign declared it as, "Raither Theater."

With an arm around her shoulder, he steered the pair towards the building. After climbing through a window, he helped Adalei in as well, trying a cheerful whistle to lighten the obviously foul mood.

"The place looks empty," Elliot commented. "I wonder if it's abandoned."
