After the incidents with the young Alex Terrian, Andrej needed rest. The words that he had been left with were still running laps around his head. Elian was gone. So was Aislin. The two beings that had been closest to him for nearly a year, aside from his own Pokemon, and they were gone. For a long time he simply sat on the bed, staring down at the floor. Vuk leaped up to lay beside him and Andrej's hand moved idly through his quills, none of them so much as scratching his fingers. Kolega walked up and rested his knobbly fingers on Andrej's knee. It was all that Andrej could do to not cry as he brought his hand to his chest. Slowly, he pulled on the golden chain around his neck and brought forth a slightly smudged gold pendant. His lip began to tremble then as, with a shaky thumb, he flipped the locket open. A single tear rolled down his cheek and hit the glass cover of the picture. His hand came off of Vuk's neck and he brushed it away, smiling weakly as he did. Vuk rolled into him, placing his heavy head on Andrej's leg with a quiet, almost exasperated sigh. Andrej patted his head and smiled. "I know, I know." He snapped the locket closed and put it back in his shirt, patting it lightly. "Let's go."
Shortly after, they were all back in Andrej's office. Vuk resumed his normal place in the sun on the rug, and Kolega sat down in the sun as well, silently meditating. Andrej set back into some paperwork, doing whatever he could to not obsess on Elian's disappearance. After what seemed like ages, the phone rang. The sound might as well have been an explosion in Andrej's silent office. In a way, the sound was almost alien. It had been ages since he had last received a telephone call and on that occasion, he hadn't heard it ring. Someone else had brought him the receiver. This time...there it was. A wailing siren that the outside world had not yet halted. His hand twitched once and he picked it up.
On the other end was a nearly breathless Oak. The two sounded so similar at times, and the speed of the conversation made the words blur past even faster. All that he caught was that he was to give the Pokeball their mother had sent to a young man that he had been treating. Thomas Rikes. After that, all that there was time for was a rushed goodbye that shortly followed another quick bit of instruction. It was with great confusion that Andrej hung up. With the conversation closed, he picked up his cane and nodded to Vuk and Kolega. The two rose as one and followed Andrej as he left his office. He quickly locked the door and proceeded down the hall, exiting into the burned out shell of what was once Riverdale. Off in the distance he knew that the remains of his former home were still smoldering. Again, as before, he shook the thoughts away and moved toward the temporary housing that he had obtained. It was nothing more than a bed and a dresser in a room that felt no larger than a closet, but it was enough for him and his Pokemon.
His sleep was fitful and barely resting.
It was only the following morning, the day after the event, that he realized he should have asked the Oaks about Terrian and Elian. He cursed himself for a long while when he realized that, but knew that calling them back would only yield an answering machine. One that they never checked. While contemplating that, he sat in his desk chair rolling the Pokeball between his fingers. A moment later, before he could mull too deeply into his thoughts, there was a knock on the door. The clock before him read 10:30 and he remembered what he had arranged. Nodding slowly, he turned in his chair to face the door. "Come on in, Thomas," he called, smiling faintly. He remained in his seat and set the Pokeball on the desk, waiting for the youth to enter.
Once he was in, Andrej gestured to a seat. "Please, sit down. We have a fair bit to talk about." Bringing himself up taller in the seat, Andrej folded his hands on the desk. As the boy sat, Vuk trotted around and sat next to him, laying his head on Thomas's leg to be petted. "Thomas, how are you feeling today?" He looked at the boy and frowned slightly. "Looks like the nurses have yet to change your bandages. Be sure to have them tend to that soon." He sighed and the smile faded slightly from his face. "Thomas, I've brought you up here to have a more serious discussion with you. You may or may not know the name, but I have worked closely with the Oak family for quite a long time. Yesterday afternoon, I received a call from the Oak brothers, giving me a bit of odd information."
As he said that, he reached out and held up the pokeball slightly. "This was sent to me shortly after the death of their mother, you see. It came with a few other things, but they are not important at this moment. Yesterday, I was informed that your name had been pulled from...I'm not entirely sure what, but it turns out that the late Professor Oak intended for you to receive this." He placed the Pokeball on the far side of the table.
"Along with the Pokeball, you are being given a large set of responsibilities. Rather, the two of us are. There is a girl that we are to find named Juno Galladeigh. She used to live here in Riverdale but has since disappeared. Apparently they found her and she was another of you 'young'uns' that Beatrice had intended to gather." He smiled and sighed quietly. "Honestly...a lot of this has been dumped on me rather quickly. I believe that the two of us are going to find out quite a bit together over time."

Evening of the first day, near Woodmount...
On her way back to her home, Lexi knew she had stayed out just barely too long. Maybe the guard wouldn't be out yet. Maybe she was worried unnecessarily. It was only just starting to get dark, right? So she should be fine. She should be...
"Hey! You!" a voice barked from a street corner thirty feet away. He was wearing dusty military fatigues, but seemed a little younger than most of those trusted to the guard. He couldn't have been more than a few years older than Lexi. There was a dangerous air about him, though. Should she keep biking?
She got her answer as he drew a gun and aimed it at her. "Stop! Where'd you get that pokémon? Come on, answer me!" It was clear he was interested in a little more than her pokémon, though, the way he licked his lips and glanced at the surrounding homes of the suburban area, as though making sure they were alone. Like most pokémon eventually did, it appeared the zigzagoon at his side had taken on its master's aspect, the crooked lips under its bandit-masked face smiling oddly as the pair swiftly began closing the space between themselves and Lexi. The bristling fur on the small quadruped was matted in places and its thick tail seemed crooked, but well-groomed or not, it was loyal, and ready to attack if needed.
---
Morning of the second day, in Glenville...
Gruesome or otherwise, the methods employed to defeat the oncoming rattata were effective; eight small bodies lay scattered about the room well within time to prepare for the upcoming second row. Edward's voice came on over the intercom:
"Sounds like things have quieted down in there a bit; that's good. Is everyone okay? We're making progress, but things are-"
A humiliatingly motherly tone, somewhat distorted, cut off his over the intercom. "Come on, Eddie, don't give up now! Mommy believes in you, sweetie!"
Those in the room could almost hear the rush of blood to his cheeks. "Well. This code is a little complex, to say the least." Given that four beings who had grown up around the woman and all learned what to most people was a mind-boggling quantity and quality of programming skills were working together and hadn't broken the virus, that was perhaps an understatement. "That espeon is named Aislin; she's there to help. Get ready; second wave is coming in two minutes."
Probably assuming he had a little while to give advice, he left the intercom open, which meant everyone in the small room heard, "Hey, Grim, where's it sending that command? To the... what?" His voice became sharp and somewhat frightened before he paused. All that could be heard was steady, furious typing, and then: "Why do we keep those around? Sig, I thought I told you to euthanize those things!" he shouted.
"I... I thought I set the schedule... It must not've..."
"Damn it! Kids!" he said angrily into the microphone, "There's a-"
The link went dead. Locks started opening - Shik, shik, shik, shik, shik, shik, shik, shik... shunk. Talia counted on her fingers as her pikachu began gathering electricity to fire at the newly freed rattata. "Wait... nine?"
Seven rattata flew straight at Gerard and Justice, the closest targets, while one remained a moment longer to recover from the battering it had given itself from running slamming itself against the bars of the cage before jumping out and tackling another rattata, bowling it into a third. Those two responded ferociously, inciting a tiny riot which, once it had sorted itself out, left only four rattata standing to continue the attack on Aislin and the kids.
---
Outside the room, Elian's ears perked to the sound of feet running towards her and a shouted voice from some distance away. "Elian! There's a raticate in there with them! And a primape coming with the next set!"
Klaxons sounded in the lab and Edward barked, "Sig, get back here! It's rewriting itself when you take a break!"
"I'm there!" The footsteps ran back away.
---
Back inside, while the third row was beginning to show the signs of septal rage and all the rattata were becoming excited at the commotion in the room, a new noise could be heard - a deeper sniffing coming from behind the most easily visible cages, and a low growl. A minute or two after the second row had been released, a raticate sniffed its way to the edge of the light and sat back on its hind paws to survey the room, showing its three foot height briefly before snarling and charging directly at Aislin.
---
Some miles north of Cliffshire...
"Hah!" the leader spat, the screw hanging out of his mouth. "Heroes? Us? Lemme show your heroes, f***-mouth." He waved his gun at the bikers who seemed headed to Glenville. "Those're heroes for ya! Dumbass little suicidal s***s still day-dreaming like f***ing kids." There was something in his eyes, though... this man had day-dreamed, once.
But that moment was shattered when one of the other bikers in his posse said, "Hey... hey, Boss? I mean, what if we could... y'know... 'cuz it sucks like s***, livin' like we do..."
Without hesitating, the leader turned and fired, point-blank. The result was not fit for description. "Anyone else not happy with how they're livin'?" he barked, pumping the shell and readying another shot. He was on edge, now. If he hadn't been unstable before, the adrenaline that had been set loose when Paul appeared had set him off on a high that wouldn't be coming down any time soon.
Well. That at least brought it down to five, only four of whom were still facing Paul. More than that, two more weights dropped into the veteran's pockets - if he checked, he would find a magazine of ammo for each weapon, each with a tag and gold gel pen indicating, "Courtesy of Dr. Terrian's Just-In-Time Deliveries."
---
Terrian laughed at Djinn's antics, especially at the image of Ulysses. "Oh, no, that's fine, Ulysses; really." He shrugged. "Oh! Right! You can't trust me. Damn it, I meant to say that. Damnit, damnit," he sighed in exasperation and rubbed at his eyes before shaking himself as though waking up and looking back. "Anyway. It makes sense he'd be happy to see me; I took that curse off him. Who the hell teaches a rhyhorn how to curse things, anyway?" He shook his head wonderingly, and then met the older gentleman's eyes.
"Well, as for being a superhero, I'm not sure about that, yet. As for how... well, we all have our secrets. It actually is much simpler than I think most people would be willing to believe, so you're right, there. As for knowing of your business, I think I can be somewhat less vague." He was being much more cordial than he had been with Andrej; his manner was solid, here. "As you know, I wasn't exactly a contemporary of Beatrice's, but I followed her work quite closely. You remember the day she was arrested for... well, effectively, for foreseeing the Calamity.
"She had prepared quite extensively for the event; as I recall, she took her alakazam, Nebule with her, and a few other things. As you may know, though, she was under a lot of stress from... almost as many people as had kicked me out, though of a different sort, and of much higher authority. She was frightened that her plans might not be carried out, so I presented myself as an option - yeah. I was there." He grinned. "I had learned one or two things about stealth by that point. She told me a lot about what happened and what's happening now, and asked me to ensure all the packages got delivered, assuming I survived. So that's why I know what's in them, and where they went.
"So I know that you need to get a hold of Jacob, meet up with Talia Horsley, and bring those two back here with something from the Oaks - probably a USB - to open up the data on the other USB that you got from Beatrice." He shuffled his feet briefly and looked down at them. "I can give you hand, if you want. 'Cuz that kid is outta here, by now, knowing him."

It all seemed to happen so fast. At least for Taila that is. Wasn’t it only a few moments ago that she was with the professors and getting her new pokemon?
----
It was so cute!
A small rat pokemon had come out of the pokeball that Taila was given. She looked at the creature and then at the pokeball and back at the figure in front of it. ”How do you fit?” she asked the little thing, but knew well enough that she was not going to get a clear answer out of it. And just as she expected it just turned its head to the side so it could have an easier time scratching behind its ear.
”Oh well, that doesn’t matter. My name is Taila, what’s your name?”
”Pikachu!”
The female nodded her head as if she understood completely. Then she squatted down and sat on the balls of her feet. A curious hand made it’s way to hold her chin as if it would help her with her thinking process. ”Nah, Pikachu is used all over the place. I’ll call you, Chuca!” Taila could have sworn she saw sparks come from its cheeks at the name. ”Okay, not Chuca…. How about,” there was another pause as her gaze traveled to the ceiling of the room. Her eyes glimmered at the thought and a smile came to her face.
”Pita! How about Pita?” she asked the creature who only ended up blinking. But that was good enough, it was at least not a name that made it mad, and instead of giving off sparks and a glare, it seemed to blink and pay attention. The name was perfect!
----
”Pita!” Taila called out from the side as she saw a rattata drawing closer. The pikachu turned after hearing its name being called out to it. Even if it was only for a few minutes already the creature was use to the name. Seeing the other rat pokemon approach her partner, the pikachu sprinted at it and slammed her whole body into the thing. With the tackle the rattata was no longer after Taila, but its attention was directed only on the pikachu. The electric mouse then bared it’s teeth and let out a cry, along with a small electric shock to zap the smaller purple animal.
”Thank you Pita….” Taila sighed in relief.
---
”So, we’re suppose to train right now. We’re going to get really good, but to do that we need to practice. The professors said we can use this room, with the others, and work on your skills by beating the rattatas. Okay?” The younger female looked at her new pokemon as she tired to explain the situation to her. But, she really seemed to need to get use to Taila still. Pita barely paid any attention to what was going on anymore, and really didn’t look like she wanted to take any orders from this human.
Taila sighed and looked over at Juno who was already training with her Eevee . That creature was already getting so fast as catching the pokemon in the room. ”Come on Pita, we have to learn to become stronger like them. Here, see that Rattata? Why don’t you try to tackle it?”
Pita looked at Taila then walked over to the Rattata and simply pushed it. She probably took enjoyment from the fact that Taila was off in the back saying things like “No, that’s not how you do it” or “That was a push, not a tackle”. Sadly for Pita, the Rattata didn’t like being pushed, and tired to push back, a little harder though. This time is was Pita that was on the ground due to the tackle, and of course she didn’t like that either. Sparks came out of her cheeks and she then returned with a tackle of her own.
”Good Pita! That’s how you do it!” Except after hearing that comment the Pikachu just sat down again a little huffy. It was mad about being pushed, but it didn’t want to take orders from this girl.
Sighing, Taila knew this was not going to be easy. From the looks of it, it seemed like she was going to have to get Pikachu some sort of reason to attack, instead of just the fact they they were suppose to get stronger.
---
And boy did they get their chance now. More than they thought they would. Suddenly the Rattatas, that seemed to be no problem in the first place, felt like leaping up and striking back. Pita and Taila soon found themselves having to agree just to do anything. Pita learned that her electricity would do wonders. She would be able to keep the Rattatas at a distance and still be able to tackle away the other closer ones.
Second wave? Oh that sounds like something good… Taila and Pikachu readied themselves for anything. They looked around the room and noticed that there was an espeon now in the room. They had been so occupied and distracted by the rattatas that they didn’t even notice the new figure that was with them. But from the look of it, it seemed to be on their side, so Taila was not about to complain.
That’s when she heard the voice call out over the microphone again. She looked up as if to try and find where the sound was coming from so she could listen easier, but of course what was their luck but the fact that it got cut off. Instead she heard nine Shik sounds. She couldn’t say that she exactly knew what that meant, if anything, but she figured it would be best to keep herself focused to try and find out what the professor was trying to tell them.
That’s when the creatures then lunged at Gerard and Justice. ”Pita help them!” she called out and the Pikachu let out a few electric shocks to at least slow the group of rattatas. Taila found herself trying to count them as they ran along, it was harder than she thought, but in the end she found herself counting seven. Well, now there were four left after that little scrabble. At least, she thought it was that much. A few more than one person could probably handle, she had to help out. But then, the number was still nagging at her. There were seven of them, and then the clicks that she heard, there were nine. Were they trying to tell them that there were two more to go? Were they hiding?
Taila had been looking around trying to figure out where the other two Rattatas would be when she heard a sniffing further off. Looking back at the cages she couldn’t help but to squint to try and find out what was over there. It took a little while but the creature finally came into the light and Taila found herself freezing up. What would stand there but none other than a raticate? This was bad, an evolved Pokemon, and Taila was not dumb, she knew that Pita and herself would not stand a chance against this thing. Sure, she might get a few attacks in, but this pokemon already had enough experience in fighting that it evolved and it looked pretty tough on top of that. Pita and her barely had any time to train, and they didn’t start out on the best foot.
The female human turned a head to look at the other trainers in the room only to raise a hand a point to the Raticate that had appeared. ”G-guys…. Look…” But there was barely any time for that, the creature started to charge right at Aislin. Taila gasped and called out to her Pikachu only to notice that there was nothing to do. She was too tied up with trying to fight off the smaller creatures. Even if they were not as though there were still a lot of them, and she needed to help out. So, Taila tried to help out in anyway. She had to advise Pikachu what to do, and just hoped that the Espeon would be alright.

The pathway was open, and Paul knew what he had to do. He had to take all of them down without giving anyone any warning. He knew how to do that. The red-dot wasn't on the rifle, but at that point the scope would work fine - or it'd have to. Paul motioned his head a little to indicate Zoidberg's targets - Zoidberg confirmed mentally. The one with the back to them was Oddjob's kill, and the two on the left were Paul's.
They were all distracted by their fallen comrade, and this was Paul's opportunity. His hand went to his waist, where he pushed the button on Oddjob's pokéball and pushed the ball off; it promptly released the charmander at his feet. Oddjob looked around, determined what his circumstances were, then almost silently launched himself onto the back of the leader, igniting a jet of fire from his tail as he entered, claws bared.
Zoidberg turned to the two hapless fellows on the right. He had no interest in killing them; they might even yet join, and Paul was obviously aware of this. In that interest, Zoidberg gathered energy, then released a psychic dart into each of their chests - perhaps enough to cause internal bleeding, certainly enough to effectively disable them. If provoked, however, Zoidberg was prepared to kill them.
In the meantime, Paul turned to the other two, aiming from the hip and firing perhaps three rounds in each burst, aiming below the hips at each person. The rounds would hopefully punch through the hips and thighs, dropping them permanently while not immediately killing them.
As these actions took place, Paul considered exactly what it was he was doing here, leaving all of them alive - well, except for the leader, who would be torn to pieces by the charmander. Either way, Paul needed their ammo and their fuel if they were going to be moving on to wherever Terrian wanted him to be.

Ulysses couldn't help but laugh. He voiced the source of his mirth with a scrutinizing glance at the complicated doctor. "And how exactly is it I can expect you to help me if you're not trustworthy, Dr. Terrian? Not to mention the pecularities and blatant paradox that exist should I attempt to take you at your word." He sighed; despite any criticisms he had, Shonevsky was sure that at this juncture in time, Alex Terrian was trustworthy, for if that was untrue, he could not be trusted now. And if that were the case, then everything said thus far was a sham, which was false. Terrian knew about the pokéball and other 'gifts' Beatrice had sent his way.
"What is it you can do for me, Dr. Terrian?" While awaiting an answer, Djinn ceased his silliness and came to stand at Ulysses's left, and Gloria was already at his right. The aging man wanted to verify all that had been said, but Junior was asleep and Gloria's abilities were limited largely to empathy and illusory effects. For now, he'd have to trust his own instincts.

North of Cliffshire...
Due to Paul's awesome timing, Zoidberg's attack was successful; a blossom of color appeared in each of his targets' chests below the sternum, sending a shockwave through their bodies that knocked them to the ground and forced their hands to open and harmlessly release the weapons.
Oddjob escaped certain death mostly by luck of the draw; the other shooters were not quite quick enough to adjust to his short stature before the shots from Paul and their awesome aim discouraged them from firing; one, though, was not quite as susceptible to to the pain as his cohort. He swung his rifle to the leaping charmander and pulled the trigger.
At that moment, the leader turned, shotgun over his head, ready to bring it in a deadly arc to crush Oddjob's skull, but his fellow's bullet pierced his heart. Eyes wide, he let the shotgun go mid swing; it flew harmlessly out of the way and clattered on the ground as the charmander tore at his back. He fell to his knees, staring into nothing as his horrified underling watched the blood flow out of his chest. Finally, his features settled into a wry grin and he laughed at the pallid man who was about to succumb to shock from the pain in his waist and the adrenaline. He said, "What're you f***ing scared of?" His voice fell to a listless, yearning whisper as his eyes died. "It was gonna happen anyway."
His body hit the dirt, and there was silence. Harris Dart, gang leader for less than an hour, was dead. Without even having introduced himself. Those surviving stared at Paul. He was indeed as deadly as when they had first met him, and they dared not move while he was prepared to shoot again.
-3 AP: no damage to Oddjob; flawless victory from Zoidberg; death of Dart
((if that's a little confusing, that is because AP consumption was mediated directly by Bayer on AIM; other AP usage will be more direct, except of course in similar circumstances of communication))

Closer to Cliffshire...
Terrian laughed back and shook a conceding finger at Ulysses. "Ah, you have a point! It's all up to you. Basically, I'll teleport you to Jacob, and then have to be gone; there are things I still need to prepare."
Suddenly, Terrian blanched and his face took on a crestfallen appearance. "Did you get Beatrice's package out of your house, Ulysses?"

Turning her attention away from the door, Elian turned her blind gaze towards the rushing footsteps approaching her. Needless to say, the news of stronger Pokemon within each level of the cages was disturbing. Although it appeared as if the Ratatta wouldn't be a problem, the prospect of a Raticate and even a Mankey was worrying. As the young professor scrambled back towards the console, Elian yelled after him.
"Please, Sigmund, hurry!"
The last thing she wanted was for Aislin, or the kids, to be outmatched by a powerful Pokemon. Lord knew how strong the Raticate and Mankey were alone, what if there were other Pokemon the Professors forgot to mention? Turning back towards the door, Elian concentrated as hard as she could, noticing that the next row had already been released and were on the attack.
~
With the confused Ratatta hindering the movement of a small majority of the next wave, Aislin started to focus her attention onto some of the more dangerous Ratatta charging in their direction. The Espeon bowed its head low, the gem on its forehead flashing as it charged the next attack.
~
Elian continued to hear the commotion and occasionally, voices echoing from behind the thick door. Honestly, she could only imagine what was exactly happening, the only real thing in her vision being flashes of color, while her mind felt pulled and pushed towards different directions. It took some time to pinpoint the Raticate, but by the time she had figured out Aislin's attack direction, she noticed the Pokemon start to charge.
"Aislin! The Raticate!"
~
Having closed its eyes to concentrate, the Espeon quickly opened its dark gaze to refocus on the charging opponent once Elian's voice had reached its ears. Adjusting itself to turn towards the Raticate, the Pokemon let out a cry and let loose the energy that had been built. In a bright flurry of ether, what looked like a miniature meteor shower screamed towards the Raticate in a powerful, scattered wave; the light from the attack itself illuminating the room in a golden light.

Gerard nodded in approval at Justice, who stood up and calmly wiped the rattata's gore off of its forehead. It waddled to Gerard's side and looked up, not so much proud as calmly accepting of its victory.
As the second wave was incoming, Justice ran forward, slashing at the closest rat with his sharp claws. A squeaking warcry escaped from the larvitar's tiny mouth as it eviscerated the opposing rattata.
Gerard, in the meantime, was focusing all of his faculties on stamping skulls and kicking rats out of the air (a skill which seemed to come rather naturally). He didn't have to worry about Justice as much, since the Pokemon was relatively heavily armored.

((Um, this is from my understanding of the posts, so please let me know if it's wrong?))
With Talia's pikachu dealing with one of the rattata, Justice killing another, and Gerard taking out the last two, Evie and Juno got a chance for a breather. Of course, that breather wasn't long considering that they would now have to face a raticate. "Evie, I want you to help that espeon. The espeon seems to be dealing with the raticate well enough, but that doesn't mean it couldn't use help."
Evie looked at her trainer as if to say, 'are you crazy?' "Hey. We both know you're a tough girl. And I'm going to give you and that espeon back up," she held up her slingshot. "I won't let you face that thing alone." Evie rubbed her blood covered fur against Juno before jumping away to help Aislin. Juno kept her slingshot ready for any instance of the raticate hurting her eevee and the espeon.
For not having ever worked together, Evie was able to work around espeon and help Aislin out in which ever way she could. When the raticate was busy with Aislin, Evie would jump and scratch the rat's side. When the raticate was distracted by Evie, Aislin would intervene with her own attack.
At one point, Evie nearly had her head bitten off. However, the raticate flinched at that exact moment and gave Evie a chance to get out of the way. Juno had aimed the bloody rubber ball at the raticate's eye. While her weapon couldn't truly hurt the pokemon, it would at the very least provide as a distraction for the fighting pokemon.
"Hey! How long does it take to open a freakin' door?!" Forget having to program something open; there were other ways of getting out. "Don't you have pokemon with you that can break down this door?!" A fire-type pokemon or steel-type could get everyone out of that room.
But that means releasing these rabid creatures to everyone else. I can't let Naya get hurt. She was down to 2 last rubber balls. If she used them, she'd have to make them count now.
She should have realized that having a fire-type pokemon in this case wouldn't be good. True, the creature could melt the door down, but there was also the issue of burning everyone inside the room. However, she wasn't in the mindset of thinking about consequences. Just get us out of here!

The weary hermit sighed and shook his head. "The pokéball was stolen, but everything else I have on my person. Just how important is it that I reclaim it?"He imagined it was important if Beatrice had sent it with the letter that now sat in his pocket, but Ulysses wanted a stronger understanding of the situation and it seemed Dr. Terrian was in the loop... sort of. The way he behaved and spoke, Shonevsky was fearing a sort of bipolar or MPD switch in the future, which was probably why Alex declared himself untrustworthy. He'd keep a good eye on the old researcher (although, Ulysses had to admit he really wasn't looking all that old).
In the brief silence between them, the retiree shifted the backpack. He had the strongest feeling this journey was going to be something much greater than what had originally been intended by Beatrice Oak. Hell, it might even on par with his initial venture into the world as a fledgling pokémon trainer. For almost half a second, he wished that genius of a woman were still alive, but as swiftly as this idea came Ulysses had shoved it aside. There was a problem set before him, and it must be resolved post-haste. Significantly lacking was time to daydream.

When she first heard the voice over the breeze and the rumble of her motorcycle, she turned her head to look, but then tried to wave the man off. Yeah, she was in trouble, but five minutes wasn’t that big of a deal. Most of the guards she knew would roll their eyes and wave her past at this point just so they didn’t have to do the paperwork. Though…where had she seen this kid before? He wasn’t one of the normal guards for this area as far as she knew…Whatever the case, he wasn’t making Lexi want to stick around. Then he pulled out the gun, and she wanted to stay even less… Unfortunately the penalty for ignoring him was worse than the one for missing curfew so she had to stop...She didn’t really want to get shot at either.
“Whoa! Chill!” She held a hand up, fingers spread, in the universal stop sign, though the other stayed on the throttle of the bike. She really didn’t like the looks the guard was giving her, and if he turned into a creep, high-tailing it out of there was pretty much her only defense. She really hoped the kid was just being jumpy on his first night. “Relax, I’m local, not some pack thief. I got the spearow in my backyard.” She didn’t want to have to explain her trip to this guy, and there were plenty of spearow living in the trees behind her house that were up for grabs if you could control them. “and I’m not interested in hurting anyone, so put that away.” She gestured at the weapon. If he didn’t want to hurt anyone either, that would be great, otherwise she needed a plan B…

Morning of the second day, in Glenville...
The last rattata went down, totaling the fallen to sixteen. The stench in the room was growing steadily as the bloody battle continued, but it was not over, yet.
The raticate skidded to a halt, wincing and chin on the ground from the force of Aislin's blow, but it wasn't quite dead. It had plenty of time to recover while Juno conversed with her pokémon, so by the time Evie jumped it, it made a quick rotary movement and lashed its tail at both creatures facing it. Normally, it may have hurt either a little without actually damaging them too terribly, but something in the scraping sound that snake-like tail made as it left the ground belied its flesh-and-bone appearance. The Oaks must have tampered with this one - that was clear enough as it struck the less-experienced eevee and sent her flying and skidding across the floor.
The enraged, overgrown rat set its sights back on Aislin, darting forward with its fangs bared.

That afternoon, near Cliffshire...
Terrian grinned briefly, almost nervously. "It's... it's pretty important. Of global importance, I would say, at least until we figure out a better way. Anyway, I was just asking because the people who stole it are dangerous - a religious cult, if you will, and you can well imagine the extremes to which those types will go to get what they want." His eyes lost their focus for a while and his next words were soft. "With the right strength of faith, anything becomes permissible." He flashed another grin at Ulysses, almost apologetically. "Beatrice believed that, you know." For a few moments, silence hung in the air in reverence for the deceased woman.
Immediately after it, though, Terrian's manner perked up into almost childish, blissful naiveté. "Well, all unnecessary seriousness aside, it really is time you get together with Jacob. So off you go. Your participation is much appreciated." He swept his hat off and bent in a low bow, then snapped his fingers. The last Ulysses and his pokémon saw of him before the older man and his pokémon found themselves in breathless emptiness was a glimpse of Terrian's shining eyes disappearing under that hat. In the next instant, they were facing the remains of a burned-out house in a lightly forested area and staring down a bicycle-mounted Jacob Vahzhiloks.

Aisiln felt the stinging lash from the Raticate's tail as it unleashed an attack, skipping backwards to gain some distance as she waited for the stinging sensation to cease. Once recovered, the Pokemon shook herself before focusing back onto the situation, growling viciously at the Raticate. Noticing that the Eevee that had helped was now against a wall, Aislin's ears perked in concern as it looked over to check on the unfortunate Pokemon, but found that it had little time to asses any damage as the Raticate began its second charge. Narrowing her dark eyes, Aislin started to growl as her ears flattened against her body, the gem on her forehead slowly growing brighter and brighter. The purple fur along the Espeon's body shimmered as her head lowered, the air around the Pokemon trembling as energy pooled and focused on that central spot. Waiting until the last possible second, the Raticate nearly on top of her, Aislin let out a vicious cry and unleashed the focused beam of ether, the attack pushing the Espeon back a few inches from the release.
~
Elian knew that there was hardly anything more she could do for Aislin or the children, the noises inside beginning to grow quieter as more and more Rattatta were defeated. It was a comforting notion, but it did little to relive her worry. New Pokemon with new trainers stuck within a room of vicious Ratatta was no way to introduce children to the world of Pokemon, not to mention, an Espeon who she had never seen fight.
Remembering that there was still another row waiting to be released, Elian glanced back towards the labs, then back to the door, pounding on it a couple of times to get their attention. "Kids! Is there any way to block the doors of the cages? Can your Pokemon do anything to slow them down?" She called through the door, hoping one of them would have some sort of idea. If anything, Elian hoped they would be able to focus their attention on the enemy still trapped behind bars. Even if it was a dirty move to attack Pokemon in their cages, the children and Aislin were not fighting for honor, especially against rabid Pokemon.

"Alright, this is how this is going to happen," Paul announced to the standing, living ones. "You're going to make a choice. Either you're going to drop your weapon, you're going to get on your bike, and you're going to follow me, or you're going to drop your weapon, grab some food and water, and start walking. Either way, I'm not going to let you keep your weapons, and I'm probably going to seize your pokémon if you're sticking with me.
"Either way, you're going to tell me exactly where we are, and you're going to provide me with your leader's bike and gasoline. You're going to tell me what's going on around here, what's not going on around here, and generally you'll inform me of what I need to know. You'll give me food and water enough to subsist on. That's all I want, and that's all I need. I'm not going to kill you directly, and I'll give you what you absolutely need to survive."
Paul considered his situation, and came to a conclusion. He needed to speak with Dr. Terrian. Or Beati. Or someone. Paul needed some answers. Like where he was, or what he was doing. Beati had told Paul only to call him when needed. However, he had not excluded other potential needs, and therefore if he objected to this use, he would need to tell Paul directly. As he would, because Paul was summoning him. Once the bikers had resolved their choices, anyway.
"My offer stands. Well, except to you two, because you're kind of hurt. I think I'll be able to get someone here to help you, though, so I won't leave you to die. Just... remember that."

Upon hearing the beckon Thomas would open the door with more than a bit of apprehension. Sticking his head in and seeing the room was safe, he then walked in and closed the door quietly behind him in one smooth motion. He would nod in greeting to the doctor. When he saw the pokeball he stiffened infinitesimally. Pokemon weren't exactly on his top list of favorite things. The doctor - Dr.Andrej- would regain his attention with the offer of a seat. "I prefer to be called Rikes..." he said softly as he slid into the seat. When the jolteon set its head on his leg he visibly jumped, but then regained his composure and calmly stroked the canine's forehead with the back of his fingers as the Dr.Andrej addressed him.
"I'm fine. Nothing to complain about. The bandages are fine. New ones tend to be stiffer...these are nicely broken in." In reality he didn't even need the wrap around his face, as the burns had occured around three years ago and were as healed as they were going to get. The bandages seemed to help him relax though...as if they were an excuse to have melted and warped skin. The single sapphire eye of the pair still visible smoldered with some unknown emotion...though even he didn't know what it was.
Hearing the name 'Oak' sent a puzzled look across his features. The fact that even he hard heard of them attested to their fame. Though what he did know was only rumors and snatches of whispers. More confusing was the notion that anything they said would have anything to do to him. "Odd...how?"
Odd as in for some reason Dr. Andrej seemed to think he was supposed to have a pokemon of some sort. He almost began apologizing, explaining that there must be some mistake, until he heard of the missing girl. That kicked in his sense of responsibility...which usually ended badly for him. Nevertheless, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then reached over and firmly grasped the pokeball. Pausing for a moment as he realized that he would likely soon be in events far more than he could handle, he steeled himself and leaned back in his chair with the small red-and-white orb in his hand. Locking eyes- or eye, depending on how you looked at it - with the good doctor, he would simply nod once more in acceptance of what had just fallen upon his shoulders.
"Well then, it's a good thing I like your mug eh Doc?" he said with a wry grin.
