dude, the problem with your idea is, in my group, it seems the PCs ALWAYS have enough resources to commit total genocide by level 7. o_O; don't ask me how they do it. they put their mind to it i hav eto pull all the stops and focus on that one plan. luckily for me they rarely have more than 2 radically different plans, so it is easy to focus and counter. Mother help me if they realize that each going on a plot of their own will dizzy me up! gonk i'll just then wipe the slate with an apocolypse. xp

Well my problem is I always make some crazy char that has fatal flaws... like the selfish evil fire mage who couldn't stand slavery. Though he had a whole evil crew that their evil-side was not present when dealing with each other and actually they would give their lives for each of them. By one point this group had a town that was their base and they actually treated everyone there good, and took out people messing with their 'home'. Sorta like Strahd was with his lands in Ravenloft. He was evil and bad, but don't screw with HIS stuff or he'd take ya down.
It was funny, he was in this fight with some guy who had used a potion or something (can't remember what) that gave his immunity to fire. My guy just threw up his hands and said, "Okay, you win. I can't beat you" and 'gave up', then when the guy took his protection down he whipped the s**t outta him then went on with his plans. All's fair in love and war...

anywho, we need to get back on topic. religions and gods. are we going with historicaly accurate real-world-based pantheons? Norse, Egyptian/Sumerian, Celtic, Greaco-Roman, Abrahamic, Eastern and non-deity philosophies for clerics and other divine casters to get spells/abilities from? or are we creating a pantheon from scratch, or based on some other idea? i have been playing around with the idea of a zodiac-based pantheon, with cusp-sign demigods acting as proxies between them, and Divine Rank 0 abominations that are the offspring of the zodiac gods and named after their Qlipoth demon assosiations. (it is a world where i am drawing heavily from the occult, including lots of middle-eastern influences.)

^w^ it is interesting. the Djin and Efreet are awesome, and there are amazing ideas to be had when looking into Kabbalah. plus, the Sumeran gods and mythos are BRILLIANT!

i could direct you to books i have used, people i have spoken to, and an encyclopedia as well as a number of terms to look up on wikipedia. note: crossreferencing is VITAL in this research!
anywho, i have been coming up with language notes... probably unnessesary, but i like to go the extra mile. i would say for dwarves, use two different languages. 3nodding one Norse-based, another Hebrew-based. both runic. the second would have an alphanumeric system, and the dwarves could be experts of numerology.
the draconic language i have devised is heavily influenced by chinese, with a sort of more latin feel to it. kind of unique. it would have syllibles like Mandarin does, but adding and subtracting sounds to be more like what would be expected of dragons (of course there would be dialects, but yeah). there would be 7 vowels, to be used both sepperately and in syllibles that include consonent beginnings. and there would be a few sepperate consonants. the best way to think of these sepperate consonants would be as suffixes, appearing only at the end of a word. i'd had the Q be a clicking sound, and had 2 Gs. one of them is normal, and the other is a gutteral growling sound. there would be two Rs as well, one of them normal, the other rolling.
i personally like the Tolkien elven languages (Quenya and Sindarin) but i'd not mind teh idea of an invented writing system for it.
there should definately be more than 1 human language.
