Yeah.
I guess Traditionally You wore green thruought your kyu ranking then black for dan ranking...
We switch to brown at 4th Kyu, because my instructor feels that 4th - 1st you should be working on advanced concepts... so he separates the students working on that with the Brown belt.

I always like the belt system bcuz it keeps the kids interested, but where Im training they dont let you join until youre 16 so it doesnt really matter... but our club does the belt system anyways.. I guess it kinda lets everyone know whos higher up with in the class... do you have a thing on your belt or uniform saying what kyu you are?

Nope. But we are not a big commercial school either, we are a "By Invitation Only" training group. So everyone kind of knows where everyone is at... currently I think we only have about 13-14 members in our school, and of those, at least 5 are 1st dan or higher. Matter of fact, this is a good portion of us:

Ya we're a tiny little club too.
Not by invitation only but he doesnt advertise or anything.
Doesnt let just everyone in.
First you have to email, then phone calls,
then he'll meet you and decide if you can attend
Our club normally has 3-5 people per class.
Our sensei used to have more students
but he was in a serious car accident a year ago
and its been hard on him and the school
But recently theres been small group of people joining
Ive had 4 of my friends join, all girls xp lol
But we still use the belt system.
