After the BMC/Great Youma battle, Bellatrix hadn't seen much of the world. Perhaps it was selfish to take such breaks but...there were things to get in order. College two to three months from now, Xavier's birthday before then, finding something to keep Ainsley busy during the summer... Bell had blissfully lost herself in
normal people problems, and it felt good.
Today Bell was going through her closet. She had planned to get rid of 99% of her stuff. Not that she had much. Plain blouses, skirts, and sweaters, and a few other things she actually never really wore. Even now she was wearing one of her many usual white button-up blouses with the peasant sleeves, and a plain straight skirt that came just above the knees. In winter at least the blouse had been replaced with a plain, yet somewhat fashionable, sweater usually. The skirts were a mainstay though.
Bell was tired of all of it though. She was no longer a Crystal girl, so why keep up the professional style? No, Bell was planning on indulging herself some clothes meant for
normal girls her age. Not those pf power and presteige who had to worry about keeping up appearances. And now she at least had a reason to do so!
She rationalized it as the whole college transition thing, anyway.
As if a girl needs a reason to go clothes shopping though.
Still Bell was sifting through her clothes, shoving them in to bags for Goodwill. The only things she wasn't getting rid of were probably her numerous pairs of silky sleep pants and the tanks tops she slept in. Oh, and her fuzzy boots! Underthings too but that didn't count.
With everything bagged away, Bell headed downstairs and made Ainsley some lunch - Cora too - and then left, leaving the Guardiang Cat in charge, as usual. Bell planned on catching lunch at the mall. Because for once, she didn't plan on doing her shopping at Goodwill (another reason for wanting to get a whole NEW wardrobe) but dropping off her stuff. Which ironically had come from there in the first place. Hey, if you treat clothes well, they'll last a long time!
With the drop done and her own lunch procured, Bell began her search. She browsed several stores first, hoping to get a general idea of the styles and trying to find something she liked. It wasn't hard. Bell soon enough found several shirts that she adored. Graphic tees with crosses, Fleur De Lis, wings, and grungy swirls held an unexpected appeal. Of course, the colors helped as well - blues, pinks, blacks~ Bell's favorite colors!
Lucky for Bell she didn't exactly have to worry about choosing one over the other. Money was no object, and she had expected to spend a pretty penny today. Bell was allowing herself to spend a little more than usual thanks to the extra money her father sent (due to Ainsley.) Which reminded her! She'd have to pick up something for her little sister too.... But OMIGAD, back to the clothes~
Bell was more than happy to stock up on the tee's. They'd get worn even in winter - she'd throw a zip-up hoodie or cardigan sweater on over them. Yay! Year-round clothing! She picked up a few spaghetti-strap dresses that might have reached the knees, and even, true to her usual style, bought a few blouses. For the occasional professional occasion! Like speech class! They gave extra credit for dressing well when you had to give a speech right? Maybe that was just in books...
Suprising, even to bell perhaps, a few tube tops caught her eye. A small short sleeve jacket could be worn with them to make them decent, right? A few tank tops of varying, plain, colors completed her shirt search. And at buy one get one half off deals for some of them, that bill reached $175. Not bad considering most of the shirts had been about $9 each...
Shopping math Bell could do.
And now to pants and skirts. Oh god, the price of jeans made Bell want to run back to Goodwill.... Where she could get a pair for $7.25 instead of $25 each... Sigh. She didn't even
like jeans... Still, she got a pair for five out of seven days of the week. $125 Skirts were another matter. Bell found a simple long black one, and a blue one much like it, both a steal for $12, and a simple black one that was about mid-thigh. The plaid pleated ones she got fell to about the same length, each for a clearanced $7. Add in a $15 jean skirt for the hell of it, and that bill was about $200.
Shoes. Bell wasn't much of a shoe shopper. A cheap pair of brown flats, and a pair of black, and some little blue slip-ons would join the brown mary-janes she had on, and a pair of something or another in the back of her closet. That bill wasn't even worth mentioning at a mere $50. And some cheap jewelery at a cheap jewelery store aimed at young teens and pre-teens ran her about $30... A $5 pack of plain tank tops, and a $10 pack of socks from some random cheapo store completed the haul. Or it would have, but she just couldn't keep herself away from the Goodwil store. Luckily enough she only came out with a simple cardigan for $4~
All in all? $475, not counting tax.
And a gift for Ainsley.
Bell was happy with it all though. It felt good to get some new clothes for this new venture....that was still months away. Still, it had been a makeover of her closet that was way over-due. The days of plain blouses and pencil-skirts was gone. Sure, she might look like every other teen, but when you were a senshi, wasn't that what you wanted? To at least feel and be perceived as normal, even for the littlest while?
