Zach was surprised by the question, though admitted it was valid. Shouldn't she have already known it? Or maybe she just knew surface thoughts... "I can create things." Zach said simply, extending his hand and forming an orange out of the air. Again, the details were off. Too noticeable and defined. At least it was getting better. The color fading was far better, and the texture and tone were far more realistic than the colored balls he had been creating. He let out a breath an sighed. "I am not that good at it though..."

"What do you mean not that good at it? It looks really good. Maybe you just need some practice?" Katlyn says, trying to cheer him up. It did look pretty good. Like a begaining artist, just getting the feeling for his stlye. "Anything else you can make?"

Zach laughed at the comment of more practice. That was what he was escaping from by walking the grounds. The questions of his abilities were something that Zach had always been proud of, verging on the side of arrogance. He just never had it come up in typical discussion nearly as much as he would have preferred. "Well, I can make anything, really." Zach said happily, allowing the orange to disintegrate into a fine powder and blow off into the breeze. "For example..." By definition, you could only have one first impression, and despite how little Zach would admit it, he wanted people to admire him or appreciate him in some way. Just the thought of it helped. The problem was that he was fresh out of ideas and that he typically did not create something that had no practical value. A pencil or an ice-cream cone was less than impressive. Something like a flower was just cheap and wasted as she was easily three years older than him. Possibly an... how about a... umm... "This is for you." Zach said as pleasantly as he could, gracefully handing a crimson rose to Katlyn. It was exactly as Zach had envisioned it, capturing what a flower meant and felt like rather than its actual appearance. Besides, making an object with textures and consistencies that differed from their natural state amused Zach more than anything he could think of. That is why the flower had the consistency of dried plaster, yet the texture of rubber velvet.

Katlyn watched the orange blowing away, felling his mind voice entering her mind again. She boosts her shield again, feeling his mind voice fade away. It was annoying to have someone just butt into your head, out of nowhere. She covers her mouth as he presents the rose to her. She doesn't know what to say or do about the flower, but to take it. It felt weird, like plaster and rubber velvet. She giggles at the feelings of it. "What did you do to it?" She asks curious. It didn't feel like any other rose she had ever felt. "And do I have to water it?"

Again, Zach laughed at the comment. "No, no it is fine like that." He said, with a smile. If he could make the flower a living organism, that would be a new step, especially making paradoxical objects. A glass flower that required water. It would be the epitome of delicateness, as flowers in and of themselves are a symbol of beauty, if not fragile, life. Making an inorganic substance that required water, the substance that was needed for life, for life, then it would be... Well, it just amused Zach, even if he could not put the thought coherently. He was used to his own thoughts, but then he remembered that Katlyn could read them. To her, that would be akin to reading a book in a mirror, upside-down, in hieroglyphs, made by a grammar nut, who likes to hear himself talk. Then Zach saw the irony of his own comparison and laughed to himself. "Sorry about that." Zach said with a strained smiled, rubbing the back of his neck anxiously. Even if she was reading his mind, without his permission or her own intention, he did not have to make it painful for her.

Katlyn smiled with his laugh, not quite finding what he said funny. She looked over the rose, running her fingers over it a few times. He fell silent, and she could almost feel his thoughts, though not what he was thinking. As the silence grew, he blurted out with a laugh and an apology. "What? What are you apologing about?" She asks him curiously.

"Just being confusing and all." Zach said sheepishly, then he looked at her strangely and realized, "Oh, your not reading my mind..." He did not mean it as insensitive, as most new students seemed uncomfortable about their abilities, especially when they could not be controlled, but still, it felt like it. "Never mind." Zach said quickly, breaking eye contact and thinking of how to change the subject. He hated nothing more than awkward silences with mind readers. He usually began to think about unconventional, and certainly unspeakable things. "So..." Zach said, returning his gaze to hers "What else can you do?" People like nothing more than to talk about themselves, and when they chose what to talk about, they could focus on the brighter aspects.

Tren sat outside leaning agenst a tree, as he read a book enjoying the peacfulness and quiet that this school provided. Sighing he got up and headed back inside looking around, Reading was fun but he did wish he could find someone to talk to.

This guy was kind of weird. At least that was what Katlyn was thinking to her self about him. He seemed to think in circles and was constantly reviewing and going over something several times. She mentally shook her head to bring herself back to the converstation. "What else can I do? Well, I can project my thoughts, and I am a brown belt. Anything else you can do?" She asks back to him.

Zach caught his smile when he realized that she did not mean mutant abilities. Well, in THAT case... "Nah, not really." He said, maintaining a reasonable amount of humility. Even if he did not care how she saw him, it simply was impolite to be so arrogant when you first meet some one. Anyways, he hated braggers, and when he talked about himself in great detail, he felt like one. "I guess some people are not that good at broadened horizons." Zach said with a shrug, thinking on how little his skills and talents were actually diversified.

((I'm sorry I haven't been posting guys, I just haven't been able to figure out what to post. Plus I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off.)) Daria sighed with relief as the dull ache in her hand subsided.Swinging off the low bed, Daria checked one last time to make sure she'd gotten all the water out of the floor and bed before exiting the room. Making her way down the stairs, Daria absently wondered how long these painkillers would last. Hopefully, she wouldn't end up guzzling the stupid things. She had a problem with pills, hated taking them, and hated remembering to take them. Looking in the cafeteria on her way out, Daria noted the emptiness without any great inerest. It was probably a good thirty minutes after lunch she guessed, looking at the students walking through the halls. Poppinng into the kitchen, Daria grabbed a soda from one of the cabinets, she felt as though she needed the caffeine. Smiling wryly to herself as she took the first sip, Daria remembered her mother's pet peeve with caffeinated and sugared sodas. As she drank, Daria notices that she can actually taste the sugary syrup the producers add to the beverage. It kinda ruined the taste for her, annoyingly so. She meandered towards the outside, looking perhaps for a person to associate with. She was bored, but certainly didn't want to sleep.

Tren had found the libary and was sitting in one of the large comfy chairs in the main area. He had a book in hand and was reading it quietly as studants bustled about returning books and takeing out new ones. Tren watched with half an eye not really concerned with there activites.

((Ack, I'm going blind. I must have missed part of your post Jan. Anyway, I fixed it xd , sorry.)) Daria only stayed outside briefly, she coudln't find anyone who she really wanted to talk to, and she didn't feel like messing with her powers when she couldn't control themn half as well as before. She was sure that once she felt better, everything would return to normal, but it was a little depressing in the here and now. Passing by the library on her return to the central part of the mansion, Daria remembered that she had finished yet another book. Quickly climbing the stairs, Daria returned to her little bed in the dorm rooms. Sliding open the drawer beside her bed, Daria grabbed the book and raced out the door. She hoped that the library had the next one in the series, otherwise she'd have to catch a ride to town to see if they had it there. Again Daria wished she hadn't been so careless; she couldn't exactly drive herself with a broken wrist. Daria seriously hoped that she didn't run into Zach again that day, she knew it wasn't his fault at all, but she also knew that if she saw him again..she wouldn't be able to predict her reaction. Moving quickly down the stairs, careful not to knock her casted hand against the wooden bannister, Daria moved easily into the library. It had long been one of her favorite places, and books one of her favorite refuges. She liked the quiet organization of the atmosphere something she didn't find anywhere else but in her bedroom at midnight. But even then, it wasn't organized. Smiling as she handed the book in, Daria moved over to a long-time familiar shelf. She'd read nearly every book on it at one point or another in her life. Odd that her fascination with Science Fiction had such a..relevence with her own life. Daria crouched deftly, running the fingertips of her left hand along the book spines, stopping and tapping victoriously on one. Pulling it out, she opened it quickly, reading the insert on the inside cover. Closing the book again, Daria walked back over to the desk, a small skip in her step. After the book was checked out and Daria received a due time, she gained permission to use one of the many computers the facility supplied. Reminding herself to get her own laptop, Daria logged on and proceeded to go about her work diligently. ((Hmmm...I guess I'm making for not posting for so long. rolleyes ))

Tren looked up when he heard someone go by to check out a book, he only saw the back of her head and quietly went back to reading only looking up to see what happend to her. He was rather suprised when he rembered it was the girl from eairlier who sat with him at lunch. shakeing his head he would have decied to keep reading quietly execpt for the fact that she had the same series of book he was reading now. She had the third and he had the fifth in the series. Shakeing his head again he would have kept reading execpt that he had already started to walk towards her stopping at the table to get a closer look at the book to see if it was what he was reading. It was.

Katlyn smiles as she debates her next question to ask him. Feeling something on the edge her mind, she takes a moment to examine it. It were her shields, and they were failing. Trying to strengthen them, she could feel the erroding. She needed somewhere to be alone to shore up her shields, and to do it undisturbed. "I'm really sorry to be leaving, but could you tell me where I can find some place that would be deserted and no one would go in it?" She asks politely.
