A small, delicate flower, fluttering in the breeze...

... A petal, claimed by a gentle wind, floats away...

☼ JYOTI ☼
¤▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬¤

A confident and... seemingly sweet smile grew on Jyoti's face as she got closer and closer to the battlefield. There were few that she could see which made her eyebrow rise in confusion. If there weren't that many, then why was Evelyn having difficulties? Didn't make much sense...

Ah, well. Doesn't matter too much. Violet eyes continued to scan the area, taking note of all she could see. She didn't make her presence obvious but she was noticeable. We're here anyways. Too late to change that fact. The tome continued to glow, its power waiting to be unleashed. But who? Who...?

Ah ha. The valkyrie's face twisted into a sickeningly sweet smile as she said the few key words that were so familiar to her, the staff raised, orb by her opposite shoulder. "Thousand petals, blowing... Swirling, eternally..." The tome glowed brighter still and she pointed the staff straight at Sue and Leon. "Antaram."

The tome came to life and, just like with Chizakura, petals appeared, an obnoxiously bright white. They began to circle around Leon and Sue, at first giving them plenty of distance to move around if needed but slowly coming in closer and closer. The light petals didn't have nasty side-effects like Evelyn's did, so they could escape if they wanted to. They'd receive a good amount of pain but their senses wouldn’t be screwed up and they wouldn't get poisoned. But... Although she rarely had to before, she could actually move Antaram to capture at least one of them again. She wouldn't, though, unless both of them decided to (and successfully did) break through the light magic wall; it took a lot of energy to move that spell and it was rather irritating to.

The circling petals were closing in on the two, their movement becoming more and more restricted. Jyoti honestly didn't care which of the two she actually got in the spell as long as she got at least one of them. Whoever she didn’t trap in Antaram could be taken care of by Misura. It wasn't the easiest thing to have more than one target with Antaram, which was its downfall. It requires a good amount of focus, especially with the second stage of the spell.

And, speaking of the second stage... The petals slowly and subtly were beginning to gather above the heads of whoever was in Antaram, creating a massive ball of light energy.

It was only a bit longer before the more painful part began.

Sue was quicker to escape the Antaram, but she noticed that Anri and Leon were much too slow to dodge and escape the magic wall. The Nomad Trooper called out to him, but it seemed like he didn't even hear her, as she got no answer. No matter... she still had Myulgre. It could pierce blessed armor...

If she had to, she'd fire all of its arrows to protect everyone. "I... will not let you pass any further." the nomad said stiffly. There was oddly enough, no fear in her words.

Leon all the while found himself trapped. He was too worried about what the heck this magic could to do him to answer to the Nomad Trooper's call. If he had one weakness in battle besides his reckless underestimating of his enemy's power, it had to be how magic could so easily pierce through his armor. But it was too late to escape. "So, ya be 'nother of our Heroes... eh?" he told Jyoti. "If yer such great heroes, ya wouldn't be fightin' yer own citi'zins! FEF be parta Eyris... and 'cuz of that, I ain't showin' ya mercy for abandonin' those yer s'posed to protect!" He'd put up the act that he wasn't afraid of the magic, raising his poleaxe. Her horse was still her weakness, right? The Regal Poleaxe could take care of that! Charging forward, he prepared to at least make a hit...

Sister Victoria

Victoria watched as in an instant, the calm became the storm again. These Heroes, whomever they were had relentless spirit! They'd come to aid their friend... maybe they were 'human' after all? No, nonsense, they worked with morphs and wanted to kill the FEFers! Such foolish thoughts!

The bishop was ready to help the two horseback riders whom had charged the two Heroes though. Her Fortify was more than ready. She knew better than to challenge the General or the Valkyrie, her Divine would do no good against them.

"Don't get yourselves killed." she muttered.

Jyoti didn't bother to respond to Leon's words, though they did sting quite a bit. No signs of the effect of the words showed on her face, though she knew they would be bugging her for a while. It would be a waste of time and breath to talk back to this... this idiot. He wouldn't understand. He couldn't!

Besides, she had other things to worry about, like the fact that he was charging right at her with that axe. Her eyes widened slightly and she pulled Victory out of the way of the axe, though the horse (and her leg as well) still received some damage. The valkyrie winced; nothing too serious, though blood was running down her leg on to her boot, white stained with red. It was nothing she could deal with now, for she couldn't heal herself and, to her knowledge, her allies had no way to heal her. She pinned Antaram to her chest with the arm with the Heal staff. For now, she would have to deal with it. Her first priority was finishing up the spell.

Jyoti's other hand was free and the second stage of Antaram was about to begin. The wall of petals was thinning slowly; most of the petals already converged above Leon, squishing together to make one dense ball of light. She snapped her fingers and down the ball went, straight on to Leon. From above, you would have seen that the ball had spread when it landed, stretching out to look like a flattened-out flower. The central point where Leon was standing was glowing slightly and from it extended eight spans of light magic in the shapes of petals. This was only stage two, though, and Antaram had three stages.

There'd be no way that Leon could be dead yet. If he was, then he was absolutely pathetic. He was safe... for now. He'd be dazed, yes, for the purpose of this part of the spell was to daze the opponent so they couldn't escape before the grand finale.

With another snap of her fingers, the petals snapped up and her opponent was sealed in a bud-shaped prison. A grin came to her face and her hand raised again, her fingers ready to snap for a third time. Just one more move...

Rhys was vaguely reminded of the Black Knight as Misura moved in his direction, what with all that armor and the big sword and the speed of a foot soldier.

"Sorry, but 'painless' or 'painful', death is all the same to me," he answered, backing away. Off in the distance, he could see Antaram working its magic on Leon, but he kind of had his hands full with Black Knight Sr. here. Hopefully the man's head wouldn't be blown off in one hit...

So Rhys ran away from Misura, letting her follow him into the thickets. Thorn bushes snagged at his robes, leaving bits of cloth for her to follow, but that was no big deal--she looked like a General, after all. Everybody knew that Generals couldn't stand spells! She couldn't be THAT much different. The Black Knight had been immune to spells, sure, but that was due to his armor, not so much his actual talent in resistance (whatever that had been).

He looked back and covered his mouth with his sleeve. It was an obvious way of saying "I'mma firin' mah magick", but at least she'd be in the dark as to what spell.

Perhaps the nicest thing about Elibe Shine was that it was so quick--with the light energy rapidly forming and closing in around her, she'd have a split second to act!

Now that had done it. Leon had usually been confident, even cocky against facing opponents with obvious weaknesses, but now the spell had completely trapped him inside! He felt absolutely helpless, and not to mention sort of... out-of-body. The Lieutenant now knew for sure that he was in quite a fix. No escape, no resistance, no rescuers. He was alone, and in deep trouble. He tried desperately to get Anri to move out of range, but to no avail. His signals weren't strong enough, and his steed got the dazing effects far worse than he. All the dark-armored knight could do was shut his eyes and brace for the impact. "I be prepared... I've always been... prepared. Anri... I'm sorry... so sorry... I didn't mean to drag ya into m'end like this. I ain't goin' down wi'out takin' 'er out though... when 'tis spell is o'er, I'll lop 'er 'ead of m'self..."

Sue saw the spell from the outside. She knew clearly that there had been no escape from it, and was slightly glad that she got 'lucky' to be out of it. But that other knight... what would happen to him? She had no time to worry! She had Misura to fight against. Following up on Rhys's Shine, she fired one arrow of the Sacred Bow of Winds. She wondered if it would pierce the General's armor at all. Please, let this work! We must defeat them! We must, or we'll lose everything!

Beastmistress Evelyn

PostPosted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 2:50 pm

•I bear the seed of ruin
•A
golden age turned to stone

вєαѕтмιѕтяєѕѕ
єѴєℓYη
Sometimes I wonder why they need me at all!

… For this, a tragic journey•
… A
vision of a dying embrace•

“Curses,” Evelyn hissed as more people arrived on the scene. She must have been getting soft. Normally, the opponent would have been vanquished by now, but, no, Evelyn had let them last for this long. Was it pity, or worse affection? It sickened Evelyn too think such a short time spent with these guild members had caused her to grow some sort of attachment to them, where she didn’t simply strike them down as usual. She had to get her thoughts back on track. These people were the enemy and they would be more than glad to end her life given the chance.

Matters of defense and dodging would be left to Triumph as always while Evelyn turned her attention back to Chizakura. No… now wasn’t the time to be casting another spell, she had to summon something; something big. It can’t be that though, summoning that… was supposed to be a last resort. There were always other options; she only needed something large and powerful enough to distract her opponent while she cast a few more spells. That was the plan until she was nearly thrown off Triumph when the creature suddenly made a sharp turn without warning. The sudden action saved Evelyn from a grave injury, but since the turn wasn’t sharp enough the spear still managed to put a nice slice in her shoulder. She cringed as she quickly shot a hand up to her shoulder to stop the flow of blood as she fell forward against Triumph. When the Beastmistress regained a hold on her senses she looked up and noticed the spear that had injured her shoulder had been caught in Triumph’s mouth.

Evelyn stared stupidly at the spear in Triumph's mouths. Why bother catching it? Even though she had failed to dodge it completely it would have just continued flying straight into the woods. ”Waah,” the girl yelped as Triumph suddenly lurched forward straight towards Isadora and her horse. A moment later there was impact as one of Triumph’s three heads made contact with the side of the horse. What was he thinking? He could have just simply ended it by chomping into the horse’s side thus killing the animal and leaving Isadora without a mount. No person on foot could hope to be a match for Triumph’s insane speed. Still that didn’t answer the question as to why he had caught the spear. ”Are we playing catch?” Triumph asked while his strange armored tail wagged rapidly leaving Evelyn even more dumb-founded than before. This was no time for games, not with that knight to deal with and that strange person lurking in the thicket who could strike at any time, but these things didn’t matter much to Triumph. Not when there was a game of catch to be played anyhow.

Oh dear, bushes. Whatever would she do. Misura shrugged, then simply crushed her way through them. Rhys moved around a tree; Misura went THROUGH the tree, great sword cleaving through its trunk and splitting it nearly in two. "Running away, now?" she called, voice mocking the bishop. How pathetic, he was just like all magic users. A coward, who couldn't face his enemies in direct combat and instead had to use distance to cover up his weakness, and throw these energies that were a perversion of nature. Even this man, who said he served a Goddess. There could be no Goddess. If there were, the Dark God would not have...

No, this was a battle! What was she thinking, reminiscing in the middle of a battlefield?! She was a GENERAL. She had commanded entire armies and she was being distracted by memories while fighting this little bishop. And when she turned her attention back to him, his arm was over his mouth, clearly casting... something. She could attack him now, but she would run straight into whatever he was doing. So instead, she settled her stance, bringing Vezra up with both hands. She was ready for this; and he had absolutely no clue what he was running himself into.

Light began to coalesce around her, and she grinned. Weak. A pathetic spell, and he was likely only using it because he expected her to be vulnerable to it. Absolutely wrong. The light crashed in on her; then dimmed, as instead of piercing her armor it flowed around, gathering into Vezra's blade. The blade shone for a moment, then one more rune lit, adding to the four already there.

It was too bad; she'd have to use this already. The familiar sound of an arrow whistling through the air was already occurring, so Misura didn't bother moving. The recently powered rune glowed again, and a mass of light magic flashed from the sword, leaving the rune once again a dull, glossy black. The magical projectile swallowed the arrow as it passed, then sped on its way back towards the one who'd fired the arrow; aka, Sue. Misura occupied herself moving towards Rhys again, grin on her face and sword upraised. "Now, let's try this again. DON'T MOVE, PRIEST."

Myulgre didn't work! Sue was in an absolute panic over this fact, normally the sacred Wind Bow could pierce through anything. "Milord Rhys! Listen, we have to run! We have to! Nothing harms her!"

She was wondering if the bishop was even hearing her. Just when victory had been in their grasps... it slipped away again. Was there any hope for FEF? Any at all?

Good thing she had her speed at least, so she too couldn't be harmed. Andre was taught if anything... to dodge. She found herself dragging Rhys along with her, as she knew he wouldn't do quite as well in terms of speed being unmounted.

Just as her spear flew toward the Beastmistress' shoulder, her mounted jumped up. It was hard to tell what the creature was doing. However, the dog-creature managed to catch her spear before it could pierce into her shoulder. Now, it was heading to her with her spear in its mouths.

This isn't good. Isadora thought as she pulled out her sword. If that animal attacked her, she was ready for it. However, the Gwyllgi had moved so fast, it rammed into Tuomas. Tuomas leaned back as he neighed in pain. Isadora flew back and made an impact with the ground. Air sudden knocked out of her before pain began to surface in her back and head.

Her horse moved around and went behind her as Isadora sat up. She rubbed the back of her head. "Ouch. I should have hold onto you harder." Isadora muttered to her horse.

Suddenly, she saw the monster before her. Isadora quickly looked around and saw her sword laid besides her. She grabbed her sword and pointed at the animal, expecting it to jump toward her sword.

However, the Gwyllgi didn't jump. Instead, it was standing before her, wagging its tail. His owner sitting on top of him, bleeding from the wound she had placed.

"Are we playing catch?" It said. Laying in front of it was her spear.

Isadora blinked once. Twice. Three times before she felt dumb-founded.

"Wha......" Isadora gawked. Never had she ever seen an animal talked. Well, maybe laguz, but that was different. However, this was not the time for her to investigate. This animal was her enemy's mount. She had no time to play game. Especially in the middle of the battle.

"I have no time to play catch." Isadora answered before dropping her sword and picked up her spear. She then threw it aside. Isadora picked up her sword. But before she could get up....

BAM!!!

Sudden black spots sparked across her eyes for a few seconds before she could gain full conscious. How did she ended up on the ground again? Turning around, Isadora saw the Gwyllgi again with her spear in its mouths. She felt the tail wagging over her legs. It seemed that the animal had went to chase her spear and came back. Didn't she tell that monster she wasn't playing?

"Get off of me!" Isadora shouted as she pushed the creature away from her and got up. She felt a tap on her foot. Laying down was her spear and the animal wait for her to throw. Somehow, it seemed that it wanted to continue playing.

Annoyed, Isadora picked up her spear and sword before walking to her horse while being followed by the creature. As she saddled herself back on her horse, Isadora turned her attention to the creature. "You want my spear? Then catch!!!"

Isadora threw her spear farther than she had thrown before. This time she had no idea where she was aiming. What matter was she hope the animal would chase it. As the Gwyllgi chased her spear, Isadora draw her sword and began to charge behind the creature to catch the Hero.

Jyoti shook her head slowly. There was no need to hesitate. Why did she, anyways? There was no use. So...

Snap.

The bud tightened, leaving very little room for Leon to move. Not that he had the time to, because a moment later the bud exploded outwards. "Just as I remembered it..." She said softly to herself, flicking some of her hair behind her shoulder with a simple movement of her wrist, watching Leon with a sweet smile on her face. There wasn't much else she could do at this point concerning him.

... Well, actually, there was. Duh. The valkyrie turned the page and muttered under her breath, all while keeping her eyes on the knight. He still had that axe, which was rather dangerous for her. It would be stupid to underestimate him. Sure, he didn't come off as smart to her, but he had a purpose, a reason to get back on his feet and keep on fighting. Jyoti had to keep that in mind.

Once again, the tome glowed and she was prepared to use Antaram once more.

Leon shut his eyes tighter. He could just feel it coming, he could just feel it. He remembered the first time he was hit by magic... oh how the fire burned! And that was a 'first level' mage, back when he was a recruit. Pierced right through the mail and singed his skin, it took forever to recover. But this was no trainee magician. This was an expert with a high-level spell.

He was certain he was done for. Shutting his eyes, he accepted there was no dodging. He felt himself fling into the air, at the last minute seeing that Anri was rearing up and throwing him off.

BOOM! The blast was loud, and it shook the ground at the same time the knight landed on it. Strangely enough... Leon could still feel the ground. Why? After a shot like that, it's all it would take to off him.

Then he saw it. The flower-shaped blast was dying down in its last effort. He'd somehow been thrown outside the barrier at that one second it came down to bloom with him inside. If I be out 'ere then... who..?

The realization jabbed into his heart the moment he remembered what happened in the chaos. Anri had reared up, bucking him off, but the horse never escaped with him. There inside ground zero of the blast was his beloved companion, almost brother... in a crumpled heap of that was once his war horse armor. "ANRI!" the Lieutenant cried. "Oh, Goddess... no... Anri... Anri..." he had darted to his horse's side, putting an ever quivering hand over his best friend's side. Was he breathing?

Barely.

Barely was still breathing though! Hastily, although it was his elixir's last drink, he slipped it, every drop into Anri's mouth. "Wake, Anri! We gotta 'scape! Hurry!" he said desperately.

Anri attempted getting up, but at his current strength, even his scrap heap armor was too much for him to carry. Leon recognized this immediately and decided to unbuckle it all, leaving only the helmet in place. The two faked left, making a quick dodge and escape into a nearby thicket of trees. Hopefully there, they could at least recover from the magical blast. If he stayed hidden long enough, maybe he could also find an opening, as he was still able to observe the battle from where he was.

FD observed the two new enemies that had made their way over to where Sue, Rhys, Nils, Leon, and himself were positioned. Between the two enemies FD far more desired to battle the General of them. His dragon instincts yearned to fight her. But what had really set FD against the armor-clad woman were the comments she was making as she approached them and casual death threats. These alleged “heroes” of Ganon’s tale weren’t so different from those who had cast him from Elibe during the Scouring so long ago. Here they were attacking people even after they had been removed from their homes with intentions of killing apparently. Fire Dragon hadn’t allowed his instinct to take hold of him very much at all since arriving in Learania – he was rarely in his natural Draconic state long enough to even allow himself to feel like a Dragon. But between his memories of “heroes” like the General before him from the Scouring and his having been in his natural state for a longer amount of time then he had in years – something within him triggered. A rage. An angry, fiery rage that desired nothing more than to tear the general before him apart to defend those he valued. He’d lost friends, family, and loved one’s before to people who went down in history as “heroes.” He refused to allow it to happen to him again.

Fire Dragon made his way so that he was in front of Rhys, facing Misura. There might not have been much purpose in attempting to converse with the general while in his Dragon-state, but Fire Dragon opted to anyway – the group they were facing possessed many strange talents it seemed, so there was a chance she’d understand him, he thought. And even if she didn’t his roars would be enough for her to understand his intentions. “Who do you think you are, exactly - attacking us after you’ve already displaced us from our home? Do you think we’re lambs at the slaughter you can just add to your list of heroic ‘accomplishments?’ I’ve dealt with your kind before; there’s nothing heroic about what you do. You’re a monster, and I’m not about to let you hurt my friends! I’ll stop you right now!”

The general was still quite a distance away, but Fire Dragon would still be able to attack without moving in closer thanks to his Flametongue’s abilities. He unleashed a Flametongue wider than he had in years – one meant for war – that fanned out, engulfing everything it crossed. The general wouldn’t be able to avoid its radius, despite her distance from him, thanks to how his attack had spread.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 5:34 pm

"Hik.... Hikaru." Sue looked up, almost fearfully at the Flametongue's amazing strength that was now fully unleashed. What had they called this when Father was on his journey with Eliwood? Ah, a critical hit. Where if stricken in the right place, it could easily kill an opponent. Sue knew of course that the Heroes were no pushovers.... or were they heroes at all? FD's speech made Sue start to believe otherwise. Everything was true, what he said!

They displaced them from their own land, forcing the FEF guild into exile, living in wilderness none of them were supposed to even know about. Innocent lives! Children like Amara! Now corrupted forever because their only force keeping their innocence, their hope was now being stolen away! What right did these newcomers have to take it? They had none at all!

Sue shut her eyes, giving a prayer to Father SKy and Mother Earth.

"Please let Hikaru win, for the sake of FEF. Please let that brave knight survive, for the sake of the Eyris Watch. Oh, Father Sky, Mother Earth, grant us all strength in our time of need! Let us overthrow this menace that has descended before us, turning Eyris against us, taking our place, and painting us as traitors! Let us grasp victory!"

She was unsure if her thoughts escaped into spoken words, but every one of those words could be seen behind her eyes as part of her resolve. The nomad trooper didn't care who these people were. This was her home, her tribe, her territory, and they did not belong. Even if it wasn't her arrows... she knew that someone, anyone would be granted by Father Sky and Mother Earth to put an end to these invading menaces.

Rhys stared in disbelief, and like Jin had done with Dark users, he began cursing all who called themselves "Generals" (who weren't named Amelia). Generals! Ohh, sure, they had all that great armor to stop any little axe or lance that crossed their path, but NOOOOO! They just HAD to be invulnerable to EVERYTHING, didn't they? Bunch of over-compensators, that's what he thought of all of them (except Amelia).

Still, this person was much easier to guess at than the enigmatic Black Knight. Her sword was clearly her power--it somehow absorbed magic, then used it against the wielder's foes. Some sort of... of... "Reflect" spell. Quite ingenious, that, he had to admit. If only they weren't fighting so he could learn more about it...

"...For all that armor, you're fast," he said, retreating once more. "But I wonder! Can you really catch me?"

Yes, Misura was as fast as any foot soldier. Yes, Misura was well-rested and (presumably) well-fed. But Rhys had the quintessence of at least a dozen morphs running through his veins, which made him feel as though he'd gotten a full night's sleep. He was hungry, sure, but the life force ensured Misura would have to go through quite a bit of hassle before she actually caught and killed him, and with all that armor on a warm morning like this, it might even be more trouble than it was worth...

...Well, that and the Fire Dragon just started a forest fire. But hey, he could live with that. Moving back off a bit toward the tunnel entrance, he bent to once again pick up his staff, making a mental note that he NEEDED to get a strap attached to this thing so it could be carried with the tomes.

He fiddled around with the gems at his belt, bringing out the gem for Physic if the Fire Dragon should need healing.

On the note of disbelief, Jin likewise couldn't believe what he was seeing. Isadora had practically thrown herself at Evelyn, and instead of Triumph ripping her apart he... he... wanted to play fetch!?

Jin relaxed now, fighting the urge to laugh at the spectacle. Unbelieveable! This mighty magic user, defeated by her own mount! Well, if all Triumph did was play fetch...

Above Isadora's head, Jin followed, running from tree to tree... until he noticed the fires spreading. He couldn't afford to stay up in the trees much longer at this rate. No doubt about it, whatever the outcome, this forest was going down.

Well, two people were better than one! Dropping down a branch or two, he jumped to the ground, tucking himself into a forward roll as he landed to avoid bringing the force of the impact on his feet. He pulled himself up and kept close behind Isadora, stilettos tucked into his belt... until he needed to use them.
