I had an idea of my own, but I want to get some opinions first
For starters, is it safe to say that the Star Wars Universe employs private security corporations? (Like Rent-A-Guard)

Considering the lucrative business that being a bounty hunter is and the whole private army thing, I'd say yes.

Well, one of my ideas was a hirable security corporation / mercenary band. A transport or two that flies around, with its own hardware, starfighters, and the like, offering their services where needed.

Merc squads are so common it's not funny. You really need to RP more here, EK. We haven't gone one without a merc squad now for a while.

what do you mean by that? You asked if merc squads were available. all i did was say yes, and one of the most commonly needed out there.

I think that in the end, the defeat(or stalemate) of just about all the factions to such a degree that they leave the sector entirely would be interesting, or maybe just have things go back to normal, with no-one gaining any ground.
As for me, I have quite a few character ideas, but one for sure will be my Bounty Hunter/Merc, and one off-character I'll be daddling about with randomly.
I considered bringing in my signature Star Wars character as he hasn't gotten any real play in our RPs yet because hes ment for this era, but I'm not sure if i want to go through the trouble of finishing the bastards backstory.

Because Luke is less of a whiney b***h by that time? No, I honestly cant tell you why, it just sounds better than Post-TRJ, plus its deeper into the era than just after the Dark Ages.
