He coughed and stumbled in some direction, still trying to figure out who he was. He came upon a village, mainly empty, from what he could see, but with a girl, dressed as a boy, but as one of his skills, superior recognizing abilities, could tell him, it was a girl, standing, holding a map.
An elf-child, a small, sinister voice in the back of his mind poked. Go to her, then, won't you?
"No...!"he gasped, holding his head. He collapsed to the ground. But when he looked at her, he could feel that thing in his head slickering before his eyes. She seemed to be walking towards him.
"NO! STAY BACK!" He screamed. He wasn't sure if it was at the girl or that thing in his head. It didn't seem to matter, anyways.

Kitrine stopped in her tracks. She had been heading to the man who seemed to be in trouble, due to her nature of wanting to help those in trouble. Damn her and her concern...She really wished she didn't have these emotions. They made everything more complicated. They made her keep maps she didn't need and little sparkly, worthless rocks her friends gave her when she was little.
"Sir, you seem to be in need of assistance, but I will honor your request for me to stay back, since you spoke to me with such urgency," Kitrine said, trying to keep her voice honey-sweet and as unassuming, yet charming, as possible. She turned around and walked straight to the nearest inn.

Rey kept moving towards her voice. He walked, his right hand outstretched, when he finally touched what seemed to be her arm. He reached for her hand, and held it. - Look, you shouldn't worry. This test won't be passed with our powers, if you ask me. Just stay close, and let's think our way out of this. There has to be an objective, and once we know what that is, then we can figure out how to solve it. Now, let's think. What are we supposed to do here?
He spoke calmly, but he was slightly scared himself. He was unsure of this test's purpose, and it's results.

Chiku nodded and rubbed the tears from her eyes. Then she noticed something.
"Rey...I can see you. You-you're glowing." eek

He felt himself getting beaten, everywhere, inside his head.
Stupid, stubborn one, to send such a potential host away. but this is a quite town, full of unsuspecting elves, the weakest of all. To take them shall be no problem. And then we can kill them, kill your little dragon friend... It laughed wickedly. And then the black stuff came oozing out from his mouth again. And then it hit him.
"I'm Kuroshi of the elves! You will not take me. Never, NEVER!" But it was in vain. He was consumed by the shadowlinge once more as he fell unconscious, and it spread stickily throughout the whole town.

Kitrine found herself falling faint, her body shutting down. She had but a few steps to take until she got to the checkout table before she was down, falling on her chest and her developing breasts, which would be hurting her badly in the morning. The same reaction had gone throughout the town as they were overcome with the darkness.

The shadowlinge consumed all of them slowly. Their minds, that is. Just for its own pleasure, it let them keep their own conscious thought, but moved to control their actions.
So, Elves, we shall see how useful you shall be to me indeed, shan't we? It's the beauty of you creatures...for all your power and studying, you can't do a thing to stop me from doing what I want to. Or rather, making you do what I want you to. It laughed creepily.

Rey hadn't noticed, since he had his eyes closed, but had started feeling strangely...warm. He opened his eyes, only to see that he was, indeed, glowing. - What's happening? Is this part of the test? Why aren't you glowing if you're a hybrid as well, Chiku? This is very strange!
As questions flew back and forth, he was trying his hardest not to panic.

Kazemira spoke into Rey's head.
It would appear that you have not been possessed by the shadowlinge, despite having come in such close contact with one. This is really, quite fascinating. But, if Chiku had been, that explains her sudden jumps in mood. If you can remove the shadowlinge from her, then I think I shall know what I need to of your power.

Rey listened and calmed down. He focused on keeping that small link to the Wind Dragon. - But how do I do that? I don't know how to control or summon this power, much less use it to help her. Can you instruct me? Or is this something I must accomplish on my own? Please tell me!

In truth, I know not how. There was a premonition once, long ago that said there would be a time when the shadowlinge reaches its greatest strength of all times yet and to come, and one of each type of dragon hybrid would have within him some great power, so that they could overcome the shadowlinge once and for all when brought together. If you can see how to remove it from her, then you shall have done something that none before you have ever done before.
She pulled the link back.

Rey opened his eyes at the sound of Chiku's voice. His eyes were now different. While his eyes glowed the same color, he saw everything in that room. It was empty, and huge, but he could see through the shadows, and that surprised him. He kept concentrating on Chiku, and slowly began to see her aura. This was very strenuous, but he had to continue. As he saw her aura, he saw parts of it darker than others. And as he kept looking, he saw that the aura near her heart was growing darker with each moment. Something inside the darkness opened it's eyes and screeched at him. Immediately, he stumbled backwards, startled.
Chiku... - He said, looking at her deeply. - There's something inside you, corroding, biting a you. Can you feel it?

"I-I don't feel any biting or anything. I just feel...feel scared, sorta. It feels like...like when it does when someone is looking out to find just what they can do to hurt you most, just what is your weakness. Like I'm being tossed away by everyone. Like people are saying bad things about me behind my back. Like people hate me, for no reason whatsoever." She shivered. "It feels cold." Then she looked back into his eyes. "What do you see?"

Duna watched, smirking from the bubble of Watching that Kazemira had created to show what was going on in the Dark room.
"Mmm," he said, "This is starting to get interesting....I knew that there would be something interesting afoot."

Lia had been sitting at Duna's side.
"Hmmm, this rock-hybrid seems to be the chosen one of his type, if the old legend is true. I'm not so sure about the wind one though...She doesn't seem to have much potential, and I've had doubts about Kazemira being the chosen wind-bryd."
Aurelia paused to look up at Duna. She may have been in her near human form, but she was still small, and Duna was a very large cat when sitting down.
"The elf has been on my mind for a while. I do not see the reasons for him being a host to the shadowlinge. Perhaps some potential power is hidden inside him, but I was not able to detect any in our time with him. However, something did feel-"
Lia paused and her eyes opened wide. Her voice was lost, and she could see beyond the walls of the castle.
" It has begun," she said in a deep, monotone voice that echoed sinisterly off the stone walls.
" The darkness spreads through hearts of young and old. Unsuspecting victims, asleep, lost, in the abyss. Shadow...Shadow...It is spreading, consuming all. A village... Southwest...Elves...One stands alone, and he is the farthest gone. Soon, another will be taken. Young... A child...Another village...Dragons are lost...The End for all draws near..."
Lia's eyes dialated and she collapsed on the floor, shaking with cold sweat. Her voice was normal now, but cracked with pain.
"D-Duna...what...what did I...say? T-tell...tell Kaze...Kazemira....vision...."
She closed her eyes and stopped shaking while she slumbered in a deep, dark sleep.
