Faolan was quiet while eating, not something normal for the usually talkative young man. He wasn't sure he was ready for fatherhood, either. There'd always been a chance, sure, but he'd been careful with his other female lovers. Furthermore, he'd wanted more time at enjoying the idea that he was gonna get married and actually plan out a ceremony. Now, they were going to have to get it done before any midwives or others with that uncanny knack for just knowing things found out and told Keagan.
He looked up at Elle, watching her a bit. Wasn't any sort of fair to her, either, that he'd been careless in his hurry to have her and gotten her in this mess. At least with an engagement, she would've had time to change her mind and run if she wanted. Now she was stuck with him . . . and whatever hellspawned brat he'd sired on her. Keagan might've been right in warning him not to go actively seeking to have children. If what Trystan had told him on his father held any truth, perhaps he should've just learned to be celibate . . . or gelded.
The young man sighed and looked down at his plate, nudging around a cube of bake yam. Poor Elle wasn't even going to get a proper wedding like she'd probably always dreamed of. Nope. They were going to have to just grab the nearest carnival minister or mystic (or even clown) that wasn't currently busy (or drunk, in the case of the clown) and talk them into performing a quick handfasting. It was the preferred method of marriage for the carnival and would just have to serve till Fao could get it together enough to do a proper wedding for his girl.

"F-Faolan...?" Ellandra said quietly, not really saying anything other than her fortune-teller's name, but worried by how quiet he was being. She dropped her gaze to her lap after a moment and placed the nibbled-on chicken down, feeling slightly ill as uncertain thoughts slammed into her sideways. Was. . . was this upsetting him? She hadn't meant to - to. . . did. . . did he not want - she couldn't even finish her thoughts coherently, and she fought to keep tears from welling up in her eyes. Had - had she ruined things for him?

Faolan looked up at his name being spoken and smiled at Elle, reaching over to take her hand in his. "Hey, now, my bonny lass, no need to be sad. You should be happy. We're gonna be parents." There was genuine joy in his smile and shining in his eyes. He stood up, putting a hand down on the table for support, and leaned over to kiss her cheek. "It's a little quicker than expected, but . . . we'll be a real family soon."

Ellandra bit her lip for a moment and watched Faolan before nodding and smiling a bit as well. "R-right..." she said, a bit of a sparkle returning to her eyes - one that only increased when she added, "I suppose.... you were predicting a much nearer future than we might have guessed when you got us this vardo, hmm?" She still had her worries, but Faolan did want this. . . this little one. . . so she could believe that everything would be okay.

"Ay, ay, well, that wee one," Faolan laughed, indicating her belly before pointing at Zia, "or this 'un. Either way, we needed more room. A bairn on the horizon's just a crazy random happenstance. Those are often the best kind."

Ellandra smiled and got up from her seat, going over to hug Faolan . . . for no other reason than beause she wanted to. "I thought the "crazy random happenstances" are the norm here. . . perhaps I should have been a little more prepared," she said quietly, but with a muted sort of joy and wonder in her voice and on her expression that hinted that she was only just starting to realize the wonderment of this situation.

Faolan laughed, scooting his chair back and pulling her down to sit in his lap. "La, girl. It's Farstep. We do as we please and fate sorts out the rest." He looked up at her, eyes twinkling in the light from the lamp on the table. Giving a smaller, more subtle version of his usual grin, he pulled Ellandra into a kiss, soft and passionate. As he broke it, Faolan gave a slightly dazed smile. "Love you, Elle. I truly do. Unexpected things like this, they ain't always bad. After all, I was unwanted and I turned out alright, eh?" His smile turned into a playful lopsided grin. "Now, girl. If your done with your worryin' on me and done eatin', let's go find us someone other than my Da to perform us a ceremony right proper."

Ellandra smiled back at Faolan, a little dazed herself but not wanting to show it. She snuggled close to her fortune-teller and closed her eyes for just a moment, enjoying this closeness. "I love you too, Faolan," she said quietly, perfectly happy to sit here all night, but knowing that they did need to get this taken care of . . . especially if she was really . . . she couldn't quite bring herself to think any variation of the word at the moment. After all, it was hard to accept something like this when there were no signs yet, and there wouldn't be for a few days more. She'd probably be more acknowledging when (If? Somehow that didn't seem to apply) the signs started to show up.
"Yes, I'm finished," she said smiling. "But I'd never consider you unwanted - after all, I've wanted you as long as I've lived, haven't I? Even when I didn't know it."

"Aye, lass. I loved you before I met you." Faolan looked up at her, smiling, then pulled her down for another few sweet kisses. "Alright, little mama. Let's go get hitched."
He swatted her bottom affectionately to get her up. Once she was out of his lap, he stood up languidly, making a soft contented groan. He grinned down at her, taking her hand, their fingers intertwining. "If you'd like, we can change into some nice clothes."

Ellandra squeaked a bit and smiled softly. "Well . . . the only thing very nice that I have at the moment is that dress I was wearing earlier," She said quietly, staring up at him with a soft gleam in her eyes.
Little mama?
. . . Well. That gave her the warm fuzzies a bit.

Fao indicated the bedroom with a slight jerk of his head. "Go put it on, lass. Think I'll get something decent on, too." He headed for the bedroom, gesturing for her to follow.

Ellandra followed Faolan to the bedroom, managing to consider the fact that they were changing in the same room with only a blush; after all, it. . . wasn't like it should be a big deal now. She managed to change with only s little bit of timid squeaking - until she got to the dress, got it on and remembered that she couldn't fasten the silly thing; there was just no way to button it up (a zipper would have been easier but less aesthetic) on her own. "Um..... Faolan...... help?" The brunette asked, even as she continued to try futilely to button at least some of the buttons (and there were a lot of them) on her own.

Faolan looked over, buttoning a fresh linen shirt up. He made a soft happy sigh, almost like a purr, and walked over to her. "Come, lass." He leaned down, planting a soft kiss on her bare skin, one for each button he fastened for her as he worked his way up. When the top button was done, he kissed the back of her neck. It was almost a shame, really. Most times he wanted to help her out of her clothes, but this was good, too.
Finally pulling back, he reached out, turning her so she could face him, and put his fingertips under her chin, tilting her head up gently. "Beautiful," he breathed. He gave a soft smile, tilting his head slightly. "Ready to go, my love?"

Ellandra's face was as red as her dress by the time Faolan had finished helping her, but she was very happy, very in love, and it showed in her eyes and past her blush. She nodded once, and hugged Faolan tightly for just a moment. "Yes," she said quietly, breathing a content little sigh. "I don't want your father to kill you before we're married," she added, only half-teasing.

Faolan rested his arms around the young woman, returning the hug, though not as tightly. "He'd never kill me. Beat me, maybe, but he'd not go so far as to kill me." He stepped back from her, taking her hand in his, and led her through the vardo and outside, closing the door behind them.
It was already getting late, the sun just starting to set now. He closed his eyes, tilting his face up to the dwindling light of the glowing sphere, then looked down at her, all love and desire. "I think I know who to ask for this, but first we'll need a couple of witnesses, so we'll fetch them first."
He helped her down the steps, then led her through the crowds of the carnival, heading for the where the performers lived across the grounds.
