Whoa... my brain shut down. What does LDN mean? (see this is why we need a legend xD)
PostPosted: Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:50 pm

I like the Diagon Alley, St. Mungo's, etc ideas. Sounds like a lot of work, but if someone actually uses them, then it'll be worth it, yes?

LDN means London

Yes, precisely Kitty, it will be worth it!
Hm...what else.
Oh, yeah, the key would be sticked.
And if houses were to be instated, only the characters creator can make a house.
Which goes along with no god modding

hey, shouldn't we return to this topic?

HM makes me think of Hogwarts Monthly, and DA makes me think of Dumbledore's Army. Are there other abbreviations we could use for these?

For the others, I vote
Ldn for London,
StM for St Mungo's
GH for Godric's Hollow, if we actually need that one

Would there be, for example, a designated St Mungo's thread or a separate thread for each room/patient that someone creates? Will only graduates be allowed to make shops and houses? I don't think it really makes sense for students to, but what about the Heads and teachers?
I'm worried it will get very cluttered and confusing...

Hm, okay, well, Diagon Alley could just be called...er...SC
shopping center.
Saint Mungos is the HM one right? It could just be H for hospital.
Or ER for emergency room?

I kinda want there to be a Godric's Hollow for people who don't want to live in Hogsmade.

I certainly think Grads should be the only ones allowed to make houses and shops.
And are we doing the multi character thing or not?

As in real life, Teachers and Headmasters do have a life out side of school.
I don't think they should make their own houses, teachers and headmasters, but they could have a job, like a part time job.
But if you have a teacher character and then your grad could own a house.
Does that last thing make sense?

HM was Hogsmeade. I voted for StM for St Mungos.
And that sounds fine for Godric's Hollow. I can see what you're saying.

I'm worried the multi-character thing will be too confusing. Whatever system is in place needs to be fairly easy to follow. I think only one character per person (once graduated), but that person may, for example, own a shop and teach part-time or something like that.

I think Heads should be able to create a house, perhaps. They've mostly either graduated or have two separate "characters", one a student and one a Head of house. (so in the second case, the Head of House "character" would own the house. they could either leave it as the Head's house when their student graduates, or switch it to being their graduate's house, depending on which character they decide they want to RP as (must pick one though).)
However, it might just make it a whole lot easier if we just leave it as graduates being able to make houses, not Heads. The heads that haven't already graduated will be doing so soon I think. I vote for this option.

I don't think teachers should be able to own houses. First of all, their main character is a student. Secondly, many people are only teachers for one term (or maybe two, with the exception of a couple teachers), and then stop teaching. I think it would just cause a lot of confusion.

In summary: I vote for only graduates being able to create houses.

[[Ok, I just tried to read through what I wrote and couldn't make heads nor tails of it. I'm also now having issues typing. I'll read this through tomorrow and see if I can edit it to make a little more sense. And there IS a perfectly good explanation for why I'm having issues at the moment. I'm going to go to sleep now...]]

Eh yeah, sorry about that.

I vote on grads too.

So on the characters thing:

Like for now the grads only have their one character, and later on if we get more organized we can add people?

Mayyyyybe. I forget what the other mods think on that subject. I'll get back to you on that sweatdrop

Meanwhile. Maybe you guys can settle an argument between Icee and me. Y'see, it occured to us that we now have graduates coming on to the Hogwarts Express. And we normally do a post count with houses resulting in the house with most posts getting a good chunk of house points (you might have noticed that happening in the Hour Glasses). So what should we do about graduate posts in the Express?

Should we count them with their former house to help their house earn points? Or should we keep graduates away from the Express altogether? If you guys think of other options that should be made available, feel free to shout em out.

Hm, well, honestly, although grads can earn house points from contests, I do think that they should be kept away from the Hogwarts Express.

After all, it is a train for students only, the only adults that you ever really see on board are the Trolley witch and the Conductor.

I suppose that brings up another issue:
When grads post in their forum, should they earn house points? I think they should personally.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 11, 2009 10:30 pm

Grads can't earn house points (at all.) Think about it: Molly wasn't earning house points for Gryffindor after she left Hogwarts. That's one of the differences between students and grads.

Which is why Juni was asking that question:
For the Express we typically award points based on participation by adding the posts from each house. After one of the mods made a mistake in counts, there came a discussion about whether or not grads' posts should be counted or not (since they can't earn house points).
Juni just said all of that.

Technically a grad is always a house member (which is why they post in their former house's color) but they're not students: only students earn house-points.
(I was commenting on the bottom part)

Just wondering if a mod could possibly update us all on what's happening with the graduates subforum?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 12, 2009 9:38 am

sweatdrop
The subforum has been cleaned out...finishing it is on our list of priorities.

It will be completed/opened before Spring Term.

What can make this go quicker is if someone summarizes all of the information you've agreed on in one post. That way the mods won't have to look through seven posts to make a single thread..

If I recall the only thread we'll be making is the Announcement sticky.
