She was feeling slightly disoriented at the moment, but nodded just the same. "I'm alright." The filly slowly got back up onto her feet and shook some of the dirt out of her her fur. Nalani was a bit banged up, but other than that she was no worse for wear. "Just another klutzy moment.  " And here she thought that she had finally grown past that.

Throughout the commotion, Wyatt had just enough time to dodge to the side and go around his family before slowing down to turn back. "Nice one." He teased playfully, nudging his sister's haunches. He was about to play with her a little more when he realized what he'd done. "Hey! You're it! If you can still see straight." He laughed as he spun and darted off along the tree line.

"Huh? Hey, no fair!" she replied, darting back off after her brother. Nalani wasn't about to call it quits over a little tumble.Natsuhi chuckled and shook her head before returning her attentions to their surrounding, having witnessed the scene from afar. Quite the spirit in those kids. I hope they will learn to be more careful though.(Anyone opposed to having an 'action' scene sometime soon? lol. Btw, are we in a meadow, a forest, a clearing in a forest, or in a meadow near the forest's edge? I've never been quite clear on that. lol.)

(( I was personally seeing it as a clearing in the forest, but a meadow at forest edge would be nice too.
And I'm up for some "action scene" ))

Faolan snorted her irritation in Nalani's direction as the pair of them fled through the grass. Pushing herself up, she pawed at the grass. Oh, but she'd show them. She tilted her head consideringly, judging the distance. Yeah, as soon as they came a little closer. As soon as they came back over, they were so gonna get it.
(( I kinda figured a clearing, though a meadow would be fine. Action sequence is good by me biggrin ))

(I just wasn't sure, lol. We'll go with forest clearing, since it would be easier to have an ambush there. XD)
Scanning the treeline for any signs of danger, Natsuhi paused when she thought she saw movement. She stared for a moment, but didn't see anything else. I have an uneasy feeling about this... She trotted quickly back over to where her mate and the kids were, a slightly worried expression on her face. "Wyatt, Nalani, come back over here please," she called out, still scanning the trees for anymore signs of movement.
"Huh?" Nalani paused where she was, standing right in front of some dense shrubbery. Just as she turned her head to look back at her family, she heard a twig snap behind her and instinctively jumped out of the way, only narrowly missing the pounce of an extremely large cat. The filly screamed and took off again, heading for the safety of her parents with the beast in hot pursuit.
(Not sure how many you want to have, but feel free to add more if you would like. ^_^ That one was just to start it off, lol.)

Wyatt slowed slightly when his mother called, tumbling to a sudden halt when his sister screamed behind him. He turned his head and saw the large cat after Nalani. "DAD!!!" He yelped as he tried to get his feet under him.
He suddenly wondered if more were out there... and he was alone now... He instantly froze and ducked as low as he could into the grass, ears perked as he tried to listen for any more cats out there.

Ears flicking, the stallion froze for a brief moment. A second later, he was moving, charging, his head lowered, horn on deadly display. He knocked the dark mass of fur away from his youngest daughter, jabbing with his horn. A second tore from the brush, aiming for his flank. He barely felt the claws. Whipping his head back, he grabbed it, teeth sinking into its side. He ripped it away. The other was regrouping, pivoting and rounding on the stallion.
Faolan bleated, pushing to her feet. Stumbling a moment, she got her footing, then moved toward her mother. "Mama, mama!"

Nalani didn't stop running until she had reached her mother and her sister's side. She was clearly shaken from the narrow miss.
Natsuhi had to act quickly. She brought her head down and forcefully shoved her daughters down into the grass so that they would be hidden from sight. "Stay here!" she commanded firmly before dashing off to help her mate. She couldn't leave him on his own like that when he was outnumbered. With a forceful impact, she smacked away the cat that had rounded on her mate. "Wyatt, stay with your sisters!" she shouted out to their lone son, determined the keep these cats from getting anywhere near their children.
The small filly quaked and watched in horror as her parents fought off the beasts. They just kept coming back for more. "Will they be alright?" she whispered fearfully, feeling completely useless.

Wyatt's ears perked up. Stay with the girls? He wasn't anywhere near them! Some brother he was...
With that scathing thought in his mind, he jumped up and ran, trying to give his parents and the cats a wide berth as he attempted to reach his siblings. "I'm coming." He said out loud, praying he wouldn't stumble.

Brajan gasped as he caught the one on the ground with a sharp hoof, ripping away fur and flesh. Couldn't chance a glance at Natsuhi, not yet. Still, he couldn't tear his eyes away, not from her, nor the kids. He shot them a fast glance.
Faolan's head lifted, seeking out Wyatt. "Uh huh, I think so.. shh, be quiet, Nalani! They might hear you!" There was no telling how many there were. Petrified, she scanned the grasses, the trees around them becoming something alive and visceral. Dangerous.

Natsuhi and the cat battled for a bit longer before the feline wised up and took off, knowing there was know way that they would be able to bring down two adult Kirin on their own. As the first cat ran off, Natushi turned her attention to the second the her mate had been dealing with, assisting him in driving it off as well.
Relief flooded Nalani's system as it seemed that their parents had succeeded in driving off the big cats, however, she still couldn't help but worry that there might be more out there. She had almost been caught herself just moments ago. "Is it over...?"

Sneaking up while the adults were distracted, a third feline had been silently creeping through the long grass. It yearned to just leap up and attack, but previous experience had taught it otherwise. There! The scent of young flesh was so tempting! It let out a soft growl, which turned into a loud roar, and it charged out of the grass, so near to the nest.
Wyatt cried out when he saw the cat leap from so close to the nest. His thoughts flashed like lighting in his mind. He knew that he was running too fast to just stop. He would stumble and be even more defensless than his sisters. He couldn't swerve away... cowards swerved when others' lives were at stake. All he could do was run. Maybe be able to distract the giant beast. He was so close....

Faolan loosed a startled cry as the cat bolted toward them, covering her head with her hooves, eyes pressed closed.
The stallion's head snapped up at attention. "Natsu, the nest!" Pivoting, he rounded on the nest, hooves thundering against the ground. But it wouldn't be enough. A flash of movement caught his eye, causing him to curse silently. Wyatt was running. The cat had seen, too. He could already see it altering its course as it cut through the grass, yellow eyes locked on their son.

"Wyatt!" Nalani cried out as the cat changed course from them to her brother. "Turn the other way!!!" Not thinking, the filly acted on impulse and dashed off after the cat herself, hoping to distract it and/or slow it down enough for her parents to get to it.
What the hell is she doing?!? Natsuhi thought to herself in horror, thundering along beside her mate in a desperate attempt to reach the children before it was too late. "Nalani, stop!"
