I have returned.

Hopefully nothing too drastic has occurred (other than crystal age... I love crystals...)

Welcome back! Actually... we've been waiting for something to happen... and pondering if anything actually IS going to happen. <.<;

I thought starting it off in the tea shop was a good idea...
PostPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 11:24 am

I know I'm all up for getting it going, but... dunno about anyone else.

:: pokes screen :: Anyone else in there?!

I like to open on action to get people's attention, or at least on some plot point that will be fully uncovered later. Y'know, give em' something to think about.

I'm actually working on a graphic novel script with a friend right now, so this would actually be a good side project. Just gotta keep the mind in 'write what someone can DRAW and organize it per panel, per page...'

... no one ever did respond to my plea to tell me how they drew from a script the best.

...I end up writing it like a theater script, panel-by-panel scenes...
PostPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:07 pm

I've been staring with dialogue lately, with a little action added in. Of course the scenes are separated, and with artists, I agree with panel by panel, but are we doing a 4 panel or 6 panel? That can change how much font we can get in there vs picture...

So, tea shop is do able. Did you have anything in mind for the content?

Amossk and I both disappeared which is why this thing went dead. Also, we didn't have enough cast members and I wanted to get one more artist (I was looking at Nisha, but she didn't get back to me about examples on backgrounds). But since school's out and I'll have only one drawing class in the fall, I guess GDan and I could both do it.

We had an idea for plot, but like I said, no cast to fill it. I'm thinking of making up characters specifically for the graphic novel and just have the guild members make up the background characters since we couldn't decide on who to cast (many people didn't suit what we had in mind for the main cast).

I would like to get this going!

6-panel should be fine....

like...

1. shot of the teashop, patrons inside, shadowy in the dim gaslight.
2. Two people side by side from the back. both have tea. one has a large scarf of some kind.
Left figure (scarf): ...and that's when I found it! the wreckage of the Paladin's Gambit.
Right Figure: Mmmhmmm... You realize, sir, that I have neither heard of the skyship you've mentioned, nor have I cared for your tale...
3. Front view. to the right is Jad "madwing" skyseeker, with a grin that one wears when telling a tale, yet not listening. to the left is Myles Million, who appears to be incredibly bored by Madwing's tale of adventure.
Jad: But that's not all, then I was attacked by the Pirates of the purple blade!
Myles: I have never heard of them either...

that was my 3-panel opening... including one of the cast (they need to be bored by the excited Jad's tall tales...)

I think creating a cast to suit the story would work fine. I mean, it's hard taking other people's characters and fitting them in... so much easier to have the story and let 5 or 6 people make up the main characters. Maybe throw in a guild member, but we should have had the plot out earlier so people would know what kind of characters to make up... but oh well. This shall work.

Maybe we could use the guild characters as camio's?

SPI- good format. That works fine. I needa get back into script format mind anyway. We'd need more details for the characters, but if we have a character bible, it should work out okay. Outfits can be decided upon by the directors if need be.

Are we using chapters, or parts for this story? Maybe knowing how many pages we have for a storyline would be helpful. Like, between Jad and Myles, we have 5 pages to deal with their action, and then cut to someone else nearby that's important. Hm.... so much...

fyi... I just got my internets again! Gah, moving can be sucha chore, but oh well!

Well, as I am Jad... I rather want him to have a good deal of prominence. Myles is I think on the guest list, so he is a cameo at this point... (Jad just waltzed up to him and started talking to him for no reason at all, other than he wanted to talk...)

I can work around other characters pretty well, actually... it's just a matter of examples of their actions...

Only on the guest list? But the subplot is so great. The lone aviator entering the city of Anachronism only on some old tales and his father's notebook. (Said notebook containing research into old shipping logs to find a sample of the tainted ingredient that Jekyll originally used, and analysis of its composition.) Searching the city for Jekyll's lost journal. (Said journal containing the rest of the information needed to create the serum.) The creation of the serum, plans for animal tests interrupted by the incident of tripping and crushing the glass containers of serum, his own custom fuel additive, and the high-proof alcohol fuel for his autogyro, the broken glass wounding his arm and exposing him to the unpredictable mixture, resulting in the inadvertent creation of Sylvian Bruno. How could you pass that up? mrgreen

Well, Jad is the archnemesis of the pirates of the purple blade (whom nobody's heard of. in fact, nobody's heard of anything poor jad talks of...)

Hmm... I say that if someone with a character is going to be around for the drafting of the script and thereafter, then we can use them as a main character.

I'd like to make sure everything is authentic and played out according to character, and what better way then by having the character's creator being around.

Which means we need a... 'gasp'... character bible! =D

hmmm, yes indeed.

Mylian, it was the female version that really interested me...

does he actually turn into the lady, or is she separate?

I'd love to get more involved with this, if I may. I'm no colourist or artist, but I could give you a hand with the script element if you wish?
